Chapter 142 A Bizarre Incident
Oliver was pissed, really pissed. He'd never been this mad in his life because his beloved car had been totaled by a shirtless, buzz-cut, muscle-bound dude, named Kai Valor. And Kai was still going at it with two steel pipes!
This was a $4 million luxury car!
Oliver was heartbroken.
Skyview couldn't believe it and shouted, "Who just smashes a car like that? Is this guy's family loaded or what?"
The surrounding diners freaked out, causing a commotion. Some of the more timid ones bolted immediately.
As a party involved, Oliver naturally couldn't run away! He wasn't scared either.
Sure, Kai looked tough, but Oliver didn't care. His dad, Ken, was an ex-soldier, and his bodyguards were retired special forces, packing stun batons. In a place like Golden Valley, where gun control was tight, they feared nothing.
Oliver was the one who bullied, not the other way around.
"Get him!" Oliver exclaimed in frustration, "Don't let him get away! He dares to smash my car? I'll make him pay for everything and throw him in jail!"
This was Oliver's favorite car, but Kai had already wrecked it. Even factory repairs would be tough because it was so badly damaged.
Even if Oliver was rich, losing over $4 million and having his favorite sports car smashed made he can't stand it.
Oliver's bodyguard was about to act, but before he could, Kai started walking toward Oliver, steel pipe in hand.
Oliver's bodyguards felt the danger instinctively. They didn't dare act rashly and shielded Oliver behind them.
Oliver suddenly got it; his bodyguards were scared.
He was well aware of their exceptional combat skills, comparable to those of martial artists at the state level, capable of effortlessly handling multiple opponents simultaneously. However, at this moment, these two bodyguards were visibly intimidated by Kai.
Oliver couldn't believe it. "What's going on? Is this guy really that tough?"
One bodyguard gave a wry smile and said, "No, it's because he has weapons."
The bodyguard didn't finish his sentence.
Oliver looked at his smashed car and imagined Kai swinging the steel pipe at him. Panic set in. He was in big trouble now.
But Kai didn't get too close. He stopped about thirty feet in front of Oliver.
"Oliver, you don't need to catch me!" Kai said, his face full of hatred. "I'm here for you! I won't run!"
Kai stood there, shirtless, without a shirt, his muscles impressively well-built.He had eight-pack abs like steel and exaggerated lats that formed an inverted triangle, like bat wings. His hands were covered in calluses. This guy looked like a total beast.
"Who are you?" Oliver was baffled. He didn't know Kai at all. "Why'd you smash my car?"
Kai's voice was cold. "Listen up, my name's Kai! And why did I smash your car? Do you remember Elara Sterling?"
"Elara?" Oliver was stunned, trying to recall. "Who's Elara?"
Kai's voice deepened. "Elara. Don't tell me you don't know her. I know all about your relationship with her."
Suddenly, it clicked for Oliver. That morning, he had recently ended his relationship with an internet celebrity. As a parting gesture, he presented her with a million dollars as a breakup settlement. She took the money and left, no questions asked. Her name was Elara.
"What's your relationship with Elara?" Oliver asked.
"I'm her boyfriend!" Kai snapped. "I've been training abroad to reach a higher level of martial arts. I came back yesterday to surprise Elara, but I found a video on her phone. A video of you and her!"
Oliver immediately knew what video Kai was talking about. He wasn't into recording stuff himself, but he hadn't expected Elara to have done it.
Oliver cursed Elara in his mind. "I believe there has been a misunderstanding. I was unaware that Elara had a boyfriend; she never disclosed such information during our time together. This is truly a misunderstanding on my part. Although I'm a scoundrel, I wouldn't mess with someone else's girl!"
"You're still talking!" Kai's eyes were red, veins bulging, and he gritted his teeth. "I was cheated on, and now I'm furious!"
Oliver's face darkened. "So what do you want to do? This is all Elara's fault; I'm innocent too!"
"Simple!" Kai said, "Not only will I smash your car, but I'll also smash you. I want you to be a vegetable for the rest of your life, then I'll feel better! Understand? Prepare to die!"
Kai swung the steel pipes and shouted, "Everyone else, get out of the way, or don't blame me if you get hurt!"
"Take care! This is too much!" Skyview patted Oliver's shoulder. "I'll go get help, wait a bit!"
"No waiting! I need to run too!" Oliver cursed, "I'm not taking any risks!"
Immediately, Skyview bolted!
Oliver ran, too!
Isn't running the only option to avoid certain death?
