Chapter 205 My Woman
"Come on, hit me if you dare!" John taunted. "Don't be a pussy, you..."
Skyview promptly approached and struck John hard before his words were completed.
Everyone was in disbelief at the scene.
"Jesus, John is the second-largest shareholder of the Twin Group, the leader of the Twin Group! How could..." Someone exclaimed.
None would dare humiliate John.
"You all heard him! John asked me to hit him. Honestly, it's the first time I've ever gotten such a request," Skyview said, looking at the shocked onlookers with a helpless smile and a shrug.
"I even double-checked, and he insisted! How could I refuse such a gracious invitation? So I obliged!"
Skyview played the part of a helpless innocent as if he'd been forced into slapping John.
"Mr. Scott, you shouldn't have done that. The consequences are going to be severe!" Lily said, pinching the bridge of her nose in frustration. Skyview was acting recklessly.
Hitting John, regardless of the justification, was a serious matter with serious consequences. It was enough to give anyone a migraine, let alone Lily.
Skyview could face legal repercussions, and the other shareholders were sure to question his fitness to lead. After all, assaulting the second-largest shareholder, an elder no less, didn't exactly scream "stable leadership." John was no insignificant Yosef.
Lily experienced a overwhelming sense of exhaustion; the situation was becoming a disaster.
John himself was reeling from the slap. Skyview's audacity was simply unbelievable!
Never in a million years did he think Skyview would dare to lay a hand on him, a senior member of the Twin Group!
Even Dylan, back in the day, treated John with respect. A gentle reprimand was the harshest Dylan ever got, even when John messed up. John was old, experienced, respected, powerful, and capable. He might not have been the chairman, but he was still a leader.
But Skyview, this young upstart, dared to strike him. The audacity! The sheer gall stunned everyone.
"You...you actually hit me, Skyview, you've got some nerve!" John sputtered, his words laced with barely suppressed fury. "You're the first person who's ever dared to do that!"
John rubbed his face, the sting a constant reminder of the blow. It wasn't a light slap, either. He turned to his assistant, "Did you get that? Did you record the whole thing?"
The assistant stammered, "Y-yes, sir. I recorded everything. It's all there, clear as day. More than enough for evidence."
John nodded curtly, a grim satisfaction settling on his face. "Good. Since Skyview wants to play dirty, we'll bury him with it."
He turned back to Skyview, his voice dripping with venom. "You're finished, Skyview! I have you dead to rights. Assault and battery, clear as day. I'll get a medical examination, and then you can kiss your freedom goodbye!"
Skyview merely sneered. "Is that a threat?"
"Skyview, I thought you were smarter than this," John said, his voice a low growl. "Two little victories and you let it go to your head. Resorting to violence? How pathetically foolish. You've handed me the weapon to destroy you. You've lost your mind!"
He leaned closer, his voice laced with chilling certainty. "The heavens want to destroy a man, they first drive him mad. You've gone mad, Skyview. Your destruction is inevitable."
Skyview threw his head back and laughed in a cold, unsettling voice. "John, you honestly think I hit you out of arrogance?"
"What else could it be?" John spat.
"You're wrong," Skyview said, his voice as cold and hard as ice.
"Then enlighten me," John challenged, "If it wasn't arrogance, then what drove you to such irrational violence?"
"I hit you because you deserved it," Skyview stated, his voice flat and devoid of emotion. "And why did you deserve it? Because you dared to insult my woman. You insulted Willow. You think I'd let that slide? I'm a man of simple principles, John. I protect what's mine. Any problem with that?"
His voice rose, filled with righteous anger.
"You're a vile piece of work, Yosef. I was willing to let things go, but you crossed the line when you called Willow a slut. You had the audacity to insult her, to even think those thoughts about her, and then you have the gall to slander her? You disgust me!"
Skyview stood tall, his voice booming with authority.
"Let me make this crystal clear. Willow is my woman. Anyone, and I mean anyone, who dares to disrespect her will answer to me."
"Do, you, understand?"
Skyview's words, though harsh, resonated with a powerful, unwavering conviction.
Willow was overwhelmingly touched. She'd initially thought Skyview had lashed out in arrogance, but now she realized he'd done it for her. He'd risked everything to defend her honor. Though his words about her being "his woman" sparked a flicker of unease, she couldn't help but be deeply touched by his actions.
What woman wouldn't want a man willing to fight for her, to stand up for her against the world?
It seemed Willow had found that man.
And in that moment, her heart leaned dangerously towards love.
"Interesting, very interesting," John chuckled humorlessly, "So the noble chairman of the Twin Group is nothing but a lovesick fool."
He jabbed a finger at Skyview, his eyes burning with cold fury.
"Mark my words, Skyview, this stunt will be your downfall."
