Chapter 9: Money Can Do Whatever It Wants
"When we were at the club, I didn't know your true identity, so I gave you a chance to leave. But now, if you keep acting arrogant with me, you will regret it," Jack threatened.
Jack stood up angrily, kicked over the chair in front of him, and said fiercely, "Skyview, just wait. I'll make you kneel at my feet and beg me!"
"I think it will be you kneeling and begging me to spare you." Skyview showed a fearless smile.
Jack stormed out, leaving Jordan anxiously sitting alone. "Mr. Scott, you shouldn't provoke Jack."
"It's okay, I will handle it," Skyview said.
"Mr. Scott, there have been others like you before, confident as you are, but what happened? Jack's associates smashed the factory to pieces, and the boss ended up in the hospital."
Jordan seemed to realize something and quickly said, "I'm sure Jack will come causing trouble tonight. I need to go home and hide now."
"Jordan, if you leave now, don't come back again!" Skyview threatened.
Upon hearing this, Jordan silently stood up, hesitated for a while, sighed deeply, and said decisively, "I can only hope that Jack calms down."
Skyview sneered. He had seen through Jordan's character—bullying the weak, fearing the strong, greedy, and opportunistic.
But Jordan had some skills, and with proper guidance, he could be very influential in the future.
Skyview took Jordan to inspect the warehouse and meet with frontline employees.
As time passed by, it was around eleven o'clock at night, and almost all the Lakeview Express employees had left.
Skyview and Jordan were the last two remaining. Just as they were packing up to leave, they noticed a crowd of over a hundred people gathered outside the company's iron gate, with Jack at the forefront!
They came so soon!
To say he wasn't afraid would be a lie, but Skyview still gathered his courage. He walked boldly toward the iron gate and confronted Jack and his group.
"If you want to die, I don't want to die with you!" Jordan muttered quietly, discreetly distancing himself from Skyview, as if to tell Jack that they weren't on the same side.
"Where is your arrogant attitude now?" Jack glared coldly at Skyview.
With a hundred people, Jack was extremely arrogant. He wanted to give Skyview a lesson so badly.
"Skyview, come out and kiss Jack's ass!"
"If you want to leave standing today, kneel down and apologize to Jack!"
"Will you come out on your own and kneel down, or shall we rush in and break your legs? You choose!"
The group behind Jack shouted.
Facing so many people, Skyview felt nervous, his mouth dry, palms sweaty, but he bravely stood in front of Jack.
At that moment, there were only two steps between Skyview and Jack, with an iron gate separating them.
"I told you that I would make you kneel down and beg me for life, and I will keep my promise!" Jack pointed at Skyview's nose menacingly.
"I also said I would make you beg me to spare you!" Skyview retorted unyieldingly.
"Are you blind? Can't you see the current situation?" Jack laughed, completely disregarding Skyview's threats.
Skyview laughed along with Jack, then took out a stack of cash from his pocket and said casually, "Folks, I may not have much else, but I have plenty of money!"
"I don't care how much Jack offers you, as long as you stand by my side! I'll double whatever he's giving you!" Skyview grinned.
Upon hearing this, Jack became agitated and laughed, "These are my good friends who have been with me for years. Do you think they'll help you for such a small amount of money?"
As soon as Jack finished speaking, someone in the crowd asked, "How much can you give us?"
"The first ten people, ten thousand each!"
With that, Skyview took out a hundred thousand from his bag and placed it on the ground.
Ten thousand each!
Many in the crowd were tempted.
Many of them hadn't received much money from Jack before. If they were going to risk going to jail anyway, they'd rather take much more money from Skyview's side.
They all knew that Jack's few trusted associates were the only ones who truly benefited, and they were just sacrificial pawns!
"Twenty thousand each!" Seeing no one coming forward, Skyview smiled slightly and added another hundred thousand on top.
Seeing the thick stack of cash on the ground, more people were tempted.
Finally, a young man couldn't resist, pushed through the crowd, climbed over the iron gate, and stood behind Skyview.
Once one person did it, others followed!
Dozens of people scrambled to climb over the iron gate.
"Come back! Come back!" Jack was furious, trying to stop them.
But once they had made up their minds, how could they listen to Jack?
"This money is yours." Skyview smiled faintly, pointing at the cash on the ground.
"Thank you, Mr. Scott. From today on, we'll only follow Mr. Scott's orders." Over a dozen people spoke in unison, their voices firm and resolute.
They had witnessed Skyview's charm. Instead of getting nothing from Jack, they could at least make some money by following Skyview!
"The next twenty people! Ten thousand each!" Skyview provocatively glanced at Jack, then took out two hundred thousand from his bag and placed it on the ground.
Jack panicked, spreading his arms to block the entrance of the iron gate, not allowing anyone to climb over.
"Skyview, do you think you can do whatever you want with money? These remaining people are my loyal subordinates. Do you think they will..."
Before Jack could finish his sentence, twenty to thirty people pushed past him, scrambling to climb over the iron gate and stand behind Skyview.
Many of them didn't even earn three thousand a month, and now, by making a popular decision, they could get ten thousand. Of course, they were willing to do so.
Gradually, the number of people behind Skyview almost matched those behind Jack.
"Sorry, but money is all I want." With over fifty people standing by him, Skyview suddenly felt confident and no longer nervous.
"You should be ashamed of yourselves." Jack pointed at each of the fifty people behind Skyview, wishing he could eliminate them all.
Betrayal was unbearable, but being betrayed for Skyview? That's the most humiliating thing he ever faced.
"Skyview, this isn't over!" Jack said ominously.
"Of course, it's not over!" Skyview smiled mysteriously, then took out another hundred thousand from his bag. "Five thousand for anyone joins me!"
