Chapter 238 The Star of Charity
"Skyview!" Nicholas spat, his face twisted with rage. "This is all your fault! You single-handedly wrecked the alliance between the Link and Darkmoon families!"
Skyview raised an eyebrow. "You should be thanking me. If I hadn't exposed Kaelen for the fraud he is, Willow would be stuck in a miserable marriage with that creep."
Nicholas's voice dripped with disdain. "This isn't about happiness; it's about what's best for our families. Marriage is a business deal, nothing more."
Willow stared at Nicholas, her heart sinking. 'How could he be so heartless?' A wave of despair washed over her.
Sensing her distress, Skyview placed a comforting hand on her back. "Easy there, it's alright." Willow sighed, exhaustion settling in her bones.
Skyview stood up and looked down at Nicholas. "Are you dense?"
"What did you just say?" Nicholas sputtered, incredulous. "How dare you talk to me like that!"
Skyview scoffed. "I should knock your teeth in. You're nothing without the Link name. Do you think you could even breathe the same air as me if it weren't for Willow?"
"You're asking for trouble!" Nicholas roared. "You're making an enemy of the entire Link family!"
Skyview let out a humorless laugh. "If they're anything like you, then I'll gladly be their enemy. You grew up with Willow, didn't you? A decent brother would protect her, not sell her off like a prized cow. You knew Kaelen was a walking disaster, yet you still pushed for this marriage. You disgust me."
Nicholas's face flushed crimson with fury. "You little punk!" he snarled, jabbing a finger at Skyview.
"At least I know I'm a punk, unlike you," Skyview shot back, his voice icy. "And let me make something perfectly clear: Willow is my girlfriend now. Try to use her for your own gain again, and you'll regret it. I'll make sure you suffer ten times worse than Kaelen ever could."
"This isn't over, Skyview," Nicholas hissed, clutching his chest. "The Link family will have its revenge."
"I'll be waiting," Skyview said, his voice dripping with disdain. "Now get out of my sight. You have ten seconds."
"Or what?" Nicholas challenged.
Skyview's fist connected with Nicholas's chest with a sickening thud. Nicholas doubled over, gasping for air.
"Or I'll keep hitting you until you learn some manners," Skyview growled.
"You hit me!" Nicholas choked out, struggling to stand.
"You're lucky that's all I did," Skyview said coldly.
Nicholas, defeated and seething, chose discretion over valor and stormed out.
Skyview turned to Willow, a reassuring smile on his face. "Don't worry about him. He'll come around eventually."
"Skyview, you didn't have to do that," Willow said, her voice filled with concern. "The Link family is powerful. It's not worth making an enemy of them over me."
Skyview chuckled. "Willow, you're worth everything to me. I'll fight a thousand Nicholases if it means keeping you safe."
Willow's heart swelled with gratitude. "Thank you, Skyview."
She admired his unwavering courage. He was fearless, facing down anyone who dared to hurt her. This was true love, she realized, a love worth fighting for.
The auction had ended, and it was time to announce the Charity Star.
"And the winners of the 2023 Brighter Futures Ball Charity Star award are Mr. Scott and Ms. Link! Please join us on stage."
"Let's go claim our prize," Skyview said, taking Willow's hand. "Tonight, the spotlight is all ours."Willow blushed, her heart fluttering with happiness. As they walked towards the stage, hand in hand, the room erupted in applause. They were the epitome of a power couple, beautiful and compassionate.
Someone in the crowd shouted, "Mr. Scott, why did you donate so much?"
Skyview smiled, his gaze fixed on Willow. "My girlfriend is an angel. She has a heart of gold and cares deeply about children who don't have access to education. Donating in her name and helping these children brings her joy, and her happiness is all that matters to me."
The crowd erupted in laughter and applause, touched by his heartfelt words. Their love was truly something special.
The Charity Star award, a stunning platinum and diamond watch, was a symbol of their generosity and love.
