Chapter 204 Tension Rising

Yosef was incredibly arrogant, daring to challenge Skyview.

This may have appeared foolish, yet it was a manifestation of his cunning. He'd figured out that Skyview and John were enemies.

The two were likely the ones in control at that moment in the Twin Group. They were locked in a bitter rivalry, a fact Yosef understood all too well.

Every organization had its factions, each vying for power and influence. When the interests of different groups aligned, they cooperated.

But within the Twin Group, John's ambitions clashed violently with Skyview's, making them sworn enemies. With their power balanced so precariously, every move was a contest, and anyone caught in the crossfire was bound to get hurt.

Those lower down the ladder had to choose a side: Skyview or John. Yosef had thrown his lot in with John, hence his brazen defiance of Skyview. The more he antagonized Skyview, the more John would trust him.

"Very good!" Skyview suddenly stepped forward, slapping Yosef across the face again. This time, the blow landed with full force, leaving Yosef dazed and disoriented.

"Just a worthless nobody, daring to show off in front of me," Skyview said dismissively, ignoring the gasps of the onlookers.

Willow let out a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding. Skyview's slaps were well-deserved, a satisfying revenge for her humiliation.

A warmth spread through her chest; she couldn't deny a certain fondness for Skyview was growing.

"Skyview just inherited the Twin Group; he's still finding his feet. Nobody in the business department even knows him," she mused. "And yet, he's willing to offend John, one of the most powerful figures in the company, for me. He even hit someone for me! He was angry on my behalf! Could it be… that he truly cares? Should I give him a chance?"

Willow gazed at the towering Skyview, her eyes reflecting a peculiar meaning as she drifted into contemplation. A woman's heart is a labyrinth, its paths winding and unpredictable, even to herself.

"Skyview!!!" Yosef sputtered, his hand flying to his cheek, now bearing the imprint of Skyview's hand. "You dare hit me? You dare hit me in front of John? You've got some nerve!"

His words tumbled out incoherently. Without John's backing, he would have been forced to endure the humiliation in silence. Now, with John beside him, Skyview still dared to attack him. Was there no justice? Yosef felt utterly wronged.

"You dare hit someone in front of me?" John's face darkened. "Do you think being chairman gives you the right to act with impunity?"

Skyview threw back his head and laughed. "Why not?"

"You're insane! Violence solves nothing, and assaulting someone is a crime!" John was exasperated by Skyview's unreasonable behavior. He prided himself on his shrewdness and his ability to navigate complex situations. But Skyview seemed to operate outside the established rules, leaving John floundering for a response.

John and Yosef had twisted the truth, but Skyview refused to play their game. It was unsettling, deeply so.

"I'm well aware that assault is illegal," Skyview said quietly. "But isn't sexual harassment also a crime? Yosef, as head of the business department, should be focused on his work, not preying on his female subordinates. Someone has to hold him accountable. In fact," Skyview cracked his knuckles, "I'm tempted to hit you too."

"Fine!" John exploded, his voice laced with anger. "I've never met anyone as arrogant as you. Go on, hit me! I dare you! I want to see you try!" He turned to his assistant. "Record this. I want to see him hit me. If he lays a finger on me, this video will be his downfall. I'll see him rot in jail!"

"Are you sure you want me to hit you?" Skyview asked, a dangerous glint in his eyes.

"Absolutely!" John stepped closer, pointing to his face. "Right here. You like resorting to violence? Then do it! Hit me!"

He didn't believe for a second that Skyview would dare.

Yosef was expendable, but John was a leader within the Twin Group. Striking him would be a grave mistake.

With his connections, John could crush Skyview and ensure he never saw the light of day outside a prison cell.

"Don't tempt me," Skyview murmured, rolling up his sleeves, a predatory look in his eyes.
