Chapter 68 A Victory in the Bag

Seeing Skyview so confident, John was filled with worry. However, John was a well-experienced person. He remained expressionless and said calmly, "Have you already resolved the crisis at Lakeview Express?"

Skyview chuckled lightly. "Of course, solving such a small issue is too easy for me!"

"But as far as I know, that doesn't seem to be the case!" John said, "Skyview, we are not so easily fooled!"

Skyview replied, "I have no intention of fooling you. I've prepared a slide presentation on how I resolved the crisis at Lakeview Express. If you need it, I can show it to you. Of course, everyone else can watch it as well."

"What? Has the crisis at Lakeview Express been resolved so quickly? It's only been two days!"

"That's Impossible! Just reversing public opinion is not enough to solve the problem, let alone the fact that Lakeview Express paid out so much money this time. It was almost on the brink of bankruptcy. It can't be turned around so easily!"

"Could it be that this Skyview is truly a remarkable talent, and he did resolve such a severe crisis at Lakeview Express in just two days?"

The board members were shocked and started discussing among themselves.

In fact, for the Twin Group, Lakeview Express was not an important business.

Lakeview Express was just a subsidiary business relying on the Twin Group's online shopping operations. In today's increasingly competitive courier industry, the Twin Group had even considered cutting off the poorly performing Lakeview Express.

This was why John tried every means to send Skyview to Lakeview Express. Lakeview Express was performing poorly and had too many problems. Without strong capabilities, it was impossible to turn around the situation at Lakeview Express.

Lakeview Express was already in a precarious position within the Twin Group, and it was considered one of the assets to be disposed of. Now, with the recent negative events, it was even less favored by everyone.

Even if Lakeview Express really went bankrupt, it wouldn't affect the Twin Group much. The Twin Group could easily outsource their business to other courier companies, as there were many courier companies, and outsourcing wouldn't cost much.

The board members of the Twin Group initially didn't care about Lakeview Express until Skyview took over Lakeview Express.

Now, the situation had made Lakeview Express a key point in the game between Skyview and John, so the board members started paying attention to Lakeview Express. They concluded that the problems at Lakeview Express were unsolvable. Even the most talented person managing Lakeview Express could only delay its inevitable collapse. Once a major crisis occurred at Lakeview Express, its collapse was certain.

Externally, Lakeview Express faced pressure from large courier companies, which limited its survival space and bled its development prospects.

Internally, Lakeview Express had long been plagued by chaotic management and severe issues, making it difficult to save with general structural reforms.

The Twin Group had no intention of investing more in Lakeview Express.

In short, Lakeview Express was a trap!

It was a trap that John had arranged for Skyview!

Once Skyview fell into this trap, it would be hard to get out!

The board members were ready to watch Skyview's downfall when he and John made their bet.

They believed that unless Skyview could mobilize the Twin Group's resources, it was impossible to save Lakeview Express. With John's pressure on Hekka, it was almost impossible for Skyview to mobilize the Twin Group's resources.

Skyview's failure was almost inevitable.

If Skyview failed, he would find it hard to continue as chairman, even though he never really had the chairman's real power.

Many board members had already secretly sided with John.

But they never expected Skyview to confidently claim that he had resolved the crisis at Lakeview Express.

Everyone was in disbelief!

However, when Skyview proposed presenting the results using a slide, they could only wait to see the result.

"Have you really resolved the crisis at Lakeview Express?" John asked Skyview. "You can't fool me!"

Skyview replied, "You're not worth fooling. I've prepared a slide show. If you don't believe me, let me demonstrate it."

John said coldly, "Then let me see how you did it."

Skyview smiled faintly and opened the player, and a few images and some text appeared on the presentation screen in the conference room.

"These are the negative news reports from various major media outlets about Lakeview Express over the past few days. I must say, these negative reports have had a very negative impact on Lakeview Express!" Skyview said, "Since the rise of social media, many companies have gone bankrupt due to negative news.

"I understand the importance of public opinion, so I used some special methods to reverse it quickly! After a few days of media bombardment, the negative news about Lakeview Express has completely disappeared. Now, all the media are reporting positive news about Lakeview Express! The impact of the negative news from the previous day has been minimized!

"In terms of public opinion, I have completely turned the situation around!"

As Skyview spoke, he flipped through the slides, showing more images.

All of them were positive news about Lakeview Express.

"60 Minutes" and "Urban Express" were all influential media outlets.

The board members nodded in agreement.

"In terms of reversing public opinion, Mr. Scott has done a good job!"

"Now, the public opinion has been turned around!"

"It seems the crisis at Lakeview Express has been resolved?"

"Reversing public opinion is useless," John sneered. "As far as I know, Lakeview Express's packages are still being lost. If the packages continue losing, the problem will resurface! Losing packages not only costs money but also erodes customer trust! That's the key issue!"

Skyview smiled confidently. "John, you've underestimated me again. I've already addressed the root cause of the lost packages."

John raised an eyebrow. "Oh, really? How?"

Skyview continued, "I identified that the root cause of the package losses was internal sabotage. Some employees were leaking information and mishandling deliveries on purpose. I conducted a thorough investigation and have taken corrective action. Several key employees have been fired, and new security measures have been implemented to ensure that such issues don't occur again. Additionally, we've upgraded our tracking system to provide real-time updates to customers and improve overall efficiency."

The board members started murmuring among themselves, clearly impressed.

"Improving security and upgrading the tracking system? That sounds quite effective."

"Maybe Skyview really has turned things around."

John still looked skeptical. "Firing employees and implementing new security measures might help, but it won't solve the problems overnight."

Skyview replied, "It's not just about firing employees, John. It's about rebuilding our customers' trust. We've already seen a significant decrease in lost packages and an increase in customer satisfaction. Here are the latest performance metrics."

Skyview clicked to the next slide, displaying graphs and charts showing improved performance indicators, increased customer satisfaction scores, and reduced lost packages.

The board members couldn't help but be impressed.

"These numbers are quite convincing."

"Looks like Skyview has really made a difference."

John clenched his fists under the table, trying to maintain his composure.

"Very well, Skyview. If what you say is true, then I must acknowledge your efforts. But this doesn't mean you have fully resolved the issue. Time will tell if these improvements are sustainable."

Skyview smiled. "I'm confident they are. And as for our bet, I expect you to keep your word."

John's expression darkened, but he nodded. "Of course, a bet is a bet. I will transfer the 15 million dollars as agreed."

Skyview's victory was clear, and the board members were visibly swayed by his confident presentation and tangible results.

Skyview had successfully turned the tide in his favor, and even John had to acknowledge his success grudgingly.

Sitting beside Skyview, Hekka couldn't help but feel proud of him.

'His ability to handle such a complex situation with such finesse was indeed remarkable,' thought she.

As the board meeting concluded, Skyview knew he had not only won the bet but also solidified his position within the Twin Group.

But the battle was far from over. He knew John and his grandson Hilda would continue to plot against him. However, with the support of Hekka and his growing confidence, Skyview was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

For now, Skyview had bought himself some time and earned the board's respect.

The future looked promising, and he was determined to keep pushing forward, no matter what obstacles stood in his way.
