Chapter 176 Shark's Advantage
"None of that matters," Oliver stated, meeting Benjamin's gaze head-on. His voice remained calm. "The funding and I are just minor assets. LiveWave's true strength lies with the Cascade Group."
"I'm aware the Cascade Group is your family's business, a very impressive and large-scale enterprise," Benjamin replied smoothly. "On par with our Penguin Company, ApexTech Group, and the Twin Group. But what does the Cascade Group have to do with LiveWave?"
Oliver chuckled. "Benjamin, you're asking the obvious. Everyone knows I'm my father Ken's, sole heir. And while I haven't fully inherited the Cascade Group yet, I can still leverage many of its resources through him."
"I see. Adam is also looking to expand into the film industry."
Oliver continued, "Live streaming platforms are essentially another form of entertainment. Adam's acquisition of one is likely not just to integrate with your Penguin Company games, but also to link with your entertainment projects.
"And our Cascade Group is thriving in the entertainment industry. Not only do we have our own film company and theaters in Golden Valley, but we've also acquired a film company in Hollywood. We're clearly developing faster in entertainment than your Penguin Company.
"However, your Penguin Company is a social media titan, something our Cascade Group can never match. Not just us, even the ApexTech Group can't successfully challenge your position in that field.
"If your Penguin Company acquires LiveWave, you can collaborate with our Cascade Group's entertainment branch through LiveWave and me! LiveWave can be a stepping stone. In the future, the movies and shows produced by your Penguin Company can get priority in our Cascade Group's theaters."
Oliver finished speaking and calmly observed Benjamin, awaiting his response.
Hilda already sensed things were going south. Oliver bringing up the Cascade Group was a power play, and Hilda felt threatened.
Skyview, ever direct, cheered Oliver on. "Oliver, that's a tempting offer! You must be interested, Benjamin."
"Interested?" Benjamin echoed, looking at Oliver with newfound admiration. "Oliver, you're impressive. I initially considered LiveWave a backup plan, but after what you've said, I have to prioritize it! The Cascade Group's strength in the entertainment industry makes them a great partner for our Penguin Company. We could truly complement each other's strengths."
"Actually, there's another advantage Oliver didn't mention!" Skyview laughed. "Benjamin, you shouldn't overlook me and the Twin Group! I'm also a shareholder of LiveWave, and the Twin Group's power can also be leveraged for LiveWave in the future. If Penguin Company acquires LiveWave, it would be a collaboration between Penguin Company, Cascade Group, and the Twin Group."
"I admit, I'm tempted." Benjamin conceded. "Name your price. I'll consider it."
"Twenty-five percent of the shares for a billion dollars," Oliver stated. "Tied with Mr. Scott, it's priced at the level of Shark Live, which is fair."
"Understood," Benjamin replied. "But I still want to hear Hilda's terms." He then turned to Hilda. "Hilda, both of you have equal opportunities. Oliver has almost convinced me; now it's your turn."
Hilda looked at Oliver and Skyview with disdain and sneered. "Benjamin, these two talk a big game, but they can't change the fact that Shark Live has always been the industry leader!
"In people's eyes, only first place matters. Anything below that is irrelevant and unimportant!"
"We are the industry leader with Shark Live. Our overall strength is stronger than LiveSync and LiveWave combined! Does Penguin Company need to consider anything else? No need to consider other irrelevant options! Choosing Shark Live means choosing the leader, choosing a bright future!"
At that moment, Hilda's Wharton School pedigree shone through. His eloquence, honed through countless speeches in Evalia, was evident in his casual yet impactful words.
Oliver and Skyview exchanged glances, both realizing that Hilda was a formidable debater.
"Yes, Shark Live is the leader," Benjamin acknowledged. "But as Oliver mentioned, Shark Live has yet to turn a profit. Your funding chain is very fragile and unhealthy. Such a leader is not very attractive."
"Please note, Benjamin, that while Shark Live hasn't turned a profit, neither has LiveWave!" Hilda retorted proudly. "As far as I know, LiveWave hasn't turned a profit either! If using one's own money to cover company losses is considered a brilliant business strategy, then I can do that too, but I don't because it's meaningless! I have to admit, Oliver made some valid points, like the difficulty of making a profit through ads on live streaming platforms, and how subscriptions, gifts, and lotteries aren't enough to be fully profitable. These issues do exist!
"However, Oliver is short-sighted. He doesn't realize that in this highly developed capital era, making money through hard work is less effective than entering the stock market! The profitability of live streaming platforms lies in making money through the stock market!"
