Chapter 233 Let's Make a Bet First

The room was buzzing with low murmurs earlier, and honestly, the auction was pretty meh. It was just a bunch of celebrity knick-knacks. Besides the rich folks trying to impress some starlet or a few hardcore fans, nobody really cared about this stuff.

Most of the big donations from the super-rich were just going into their own charities anyway, a neat trick to dodge taxes. But then there was Kaelen, dropping a jaw-dropping 80 million dollars. That was why he was so sure Willow would snag the "Charity Star of the Brighter Futures Ball" title.

Then the current auction item came up, and the room went dead silent. A USB drive. Starting bid: 10 million dollars. Everyone was like, ‘What the heck?’ All eyes were glued to the stage, staring at this plain, almost cheap-looking USB drive.

"The Twin Group? Yeah, they’re big-time. But what’s Skyview doing, auctioning a USB drive for 10 million? Does it have some crazy valuable info on it?"

"If it had some top-secret tech, it wouldn’t be on a flimsy little drive like that! And it looks so cheap, I wouldn’t take it if it were free, let alone for 10 million! Has the Twin Group’s chairman lost it?"

Speculation spread like wildfire, everyone trying to figure out the deal with this ridiculous starting bid. Skyview was really trying to sell a USB drive for 10 million dollars.

"This Willow is something else. First Kaelen, a big shot from Skyscape City, and now Skyview, the chairman of the Twin Group, both donating in her name."

"I know her! She’s not just a pretty face; her family’s super powerful, full of high-ranking officials."

Willow became the center of attention, but her identity wasn’t a mystery. People quickly figured out who she was.

Kaelen, meanwhile, was glaring at the USB drive on stage, then at Skyview, his face twisted in disdain. With a mocking grin, he sneered, "Skyview, have you lost it? Selling a USB drive for 10 million dollars? Who’s gonna buy that?"

Skyview just smiled. "Oh, someone will buy it, alright. And that someone will pay 200 million dollars for it."

"Two hundred million for that piece of junk? Who’s this idiot?" Kaelen was practically choking with laughter, his contempt for Skyview clear. "I thought you were gonna auction something valuable, and you bring out this busted USB drive! You wanna sell it for 200 million? Unless you’re buying it yourself, no one would take it for even 100!"

Skyview stayed cool. "I brought this USB drive to auction because I’m confident. How about a bet? If someone other than me buys this USB drive for 200 million dollars, you will apologize for your arrogance. If not, I will. Deal?"

Kaelen pointed at Oliver. "If he buys it, it doesn’t count!"

"Oliver’s not an idiot," Skyview replied smoothly. "He wouldn’t spend 200 million on this. To be honest, I bought it for 20 bucks."

Kaelen’s voice hardened. "Fine, I accept your bet! If a stranger buys your 200 million dollar USB drive, I’ll do whatever you want!"

After the bet was made, Skyview stayed unnervingly calm, his confidence filling the room. It made Kaelen uneasy.

"Curious about the idiot who’ll spend 200 million on this USB drive, Kaelen?" Skyview asked, a sly smile on his face. "Let me tell you exactly who that idiot is."
