Chapter 153 For Justice
Skyview returned to the Twin Group headquarters, a sense of accomplishment buoying his steps. He found Hekka in her office, her brow furrowed over a stack of documents.
"Didn't expect you to team up with Oliver," Hekka chuckled, setting aside her work. "The rich kids' alliance, quite a sight, isn't it? You're full of surprises, Skyview.
"Exceeding expectations left and right. At this rate, it won't be long before you're calling the shots at Twin Group. Then I can finally relax a little, take a well-deserved break."
"Hekka, you'll always be my number one," Skyview stated firmly, his expression brooking no argument. "You're my agent, my right hand. No matter what the future holds, you're with me. No breaks, got it?"
Hekka's heart warmed at his words. It wasn't just about the job; it was the implicit promise in Skyview's voice. Whether he was a rising star or the chairman of Twin Group, she had a place by his side.
"Thank you, Skyview," she murmured, genuinely touched.
He laughed, waving away her gratitude. "Come on, we're past formalities, right?"
"Right," Hekka agreed, a smile gracing her lips. Then, her expression turned serious. "Are you sure about this plan with Shark? It's a risky move."
"Alone? Maybe not," Skyview admitted. "But with Oliver on my side? We've got this."
He was being honest.
Even though Skyview was now a restrained billionaire and Oliver hadn't yet inherited his father Ken's empire, and they might be relatively new players in the grand scheme of Golden Valley's business world, their combined influence was more than enough to crush a platform like Shark.
Skyview thought, making up his mind, 'Justice demands it. The Shark has to fall.'
"Shark is Hilda's lifeblood," Hekka pointed out, her brow furrowing again. "And it's a valuable asset for the entire Davis family. If it falls, the repercussions will be severe. What if they retaliate?"
Skyview's laugh boomed through the office. "Let them try! This is a country with laws. Any retaliation just gives me more ammunition. Besides, Ken Parker owes me a favor. If the Davis family wants to play dirty, I'll happily wipe them off the map with Ken's help."
Hekka looked at him, a flicker of admiration in her eyes. "You've thought this through. I'm impressed."
"Always a step ahead," Skyview said with a wink. "Now, about that… I have another task for you."
"Let me guess," Hekka sighed dramatically. "Another opportunity for you to exploit your poor, overworked agent?"
"Think of it as a noble pursuit," Skyview countered, his tone righteous. "I need you to dig up dirt on these streamers, especially the ones on Shark. We're exposing them all. Time to clean up this industry and stop them from poisoning society with their materialistic garbage."
"Alright, alright," Hekka said, already pulling up a file on her computer. "Consider it done. I can't stand the state of things either."
"You're the best, Hekka. I'm going to grab a few hours of sleep. Need to be at my best for the battle ahead."
Six hours later, as dawn painted the sky with hues of rose and gold, Lily gently woke Skyview. He'd given her strict instructions: as soon as Hekka finished compiling the information, he needed to be up and ready.
"How long was I out?" Skyview mumbled, rubbing the sleepiness from his eyes.
"Six hours, sir. It's 5:42 AM," Lily reported.
"Red wine. Need to get the gears turning," Skyview instructed.
Lily didn't bat an eyelid. As his assistant, her job description encompassed a wide range of tasks, catering to his personal needs included. As long as his requests were reasonable, she was at his disposal. He paid her generously, after all, far exceeding the salary of an average employee.
But it wasn't just about the money. Skyview was on the fast track to becoming the chairman of Twin Group. Being in his good graces meant being at the heart of power. If his ventures expanded, she, his trusted confidante, would be in a prime position to advance.
From a purely career-driven perspective, hitching her wagon to Skyview's star was a smart move.
As Skyview savored the wine, feeling his mind sharpen with each sip, he turned to Lily. "Six hours passed, and Hekka's already got the files?"
"Yes, sir," Lily confirmed. "She's always incredibly efficient. And with Twin Group's resources at her disposal, digging up information on a few small-time streamers is child's play."
"She deserves a raise," Skyview chuckled. "And so do you, Lily."
Lily pouted playfully. "Words are cheap, boss."
"Alright, how about this? Once we take down Hilda, we will have a shopping spree. Anything you want, on me. Deal?"
Skyview knew how to motivate people. In his eyes, what woman didn't love a good shopping spree? Designer bags, luxurious clothes, sparkling jewelry… it was the ultimate temptation in this day and age. The modern "I love you" wasn't a phrase whispered in the dark but a credit card handed over with a wink.
Lily's eyes lit up. "Really?"
"Scout's honor," Skyview grinned. "When have I ever lied to you?"
"Thank you, boss!" Lily beamed, her earlier fatigue forgotten.
Suzanne, who'd been dozing lightly on the couch, cracked open an eyelid. "Honestly, so easily bought?" she muttered with a hint of disdain.
Skyview chuckled. "Don't worry, Suzanne. You were instrumental in all of this. You get to go shopping too. Unless, of course, you're above such frivolous things?"
"I want to go shopping!" Suzanne declared, all pretense of disinterest gone. "Especially if you're paying."
"That's the spirit!" Skyview laughed, shaking his head. "You drive a hard bargain, Suzanne."
With a sigh, he opened the laptop Lily handed him and began to delve into the files Hekka had compiled. The first one was Lucas'.
The most damning piece of evidence was a video of Lucas inciting his fans to harass someone offline, a blatant disregard for the law and a serious breach of privacy. Skyview had heard whispers of this incident, but Shark's PR team had done a decent job of suppressing the information.
So, the video hadn't made it to many platforms.
