Chapter 5: Three-Year Agreement
Pancay felt daunted, his expression extremely uncomfortable. He was unwilling to believe that Skyview had become a billionaire.
"Skyview, Skyview!" Alice let go of Pancay's arm and shouted at Skyview's back.
Alice really wanted to rush up and hug Skyview from behind.
He was the chairman of the Twin Group, a billionaire. Even if she only became Skyview's secret lover, Alice was willing to do so.
"What are you shouting? you just call the chairman's name like that?" The interviewer glared fiercely at Alice, then turned to Willow with a flattering smile. "Willow, it's your turn."
Willow was still immersed in the shock from earlier and hadn't snapped out of it.
"Willow, it's your turn for the interview," the interviewer repeated gently.
"Oh! Is it my turn?" Willow, as if waking from a dream, adjusted her appearance slightly and followed the interviewer into the interview room.
On the other side, under Lily's guidance, Skyview entered the top-floor conference room.
The conference room was spacious, with a high-quality mahogany conference table in the center, surrounded by eighteen chairs.
In front of each seat, there was a laptop and a bottle of mineral water.
A projector was embedded in the wall, and the right side was all tempered glass, offering a view of the Swallow River below.
"The conference room of the Twin Group! It is indeed grand!" Skyview sighed and sat down, crossing his legs, enjoying the moment.
Gradually, a group of middle-aged men in suits entered.
Skyview counted carefully and found a total of seventeen people, the seventeen major shareholders of the Twin Group.
In addition to them, there was Hekka. As Hekka was currently acting as the interim CEO for Skyview, she sat beside Skyview.
Skyview's gaze swept over everyone present, realizing that no one was looking at him.
No one paid any attention to Skyview, the chairman! But thinking about it, it was understandable. Skyview, a delivery man, suddenly became the chairman of the Twin Group. It would be hard for anyone to accept.
"Hello, everyone, I'm Skyview." Skyview had never conversed with well-known figures before and was nervous about how to start.
Silence filled the room, with no one responding, making the atmosphere extremely awkward.
Suddenly, Hekka tapped the table, drawing everyone's attention. "Let me say a few words.
"Skyview is the designated successor to Chairman Mr. Scott Senior, inheriting the majority of Twin Group's shares. No matter what you think, Skyview is now the chairman of the Twin Group!" Hekka's words were domineering and her gaze sharp, instantly dispelling any doubts in the minds of the group.
"Hekka, we don't doubt Mr. Scott Senior's choice, but Skyview was just a delivery man before. How can he qualify to be the chairman of the Twin Group?"
"A delivery man becoming the chairman of the Twin Group, in my opinion, will cause the decline of the Twin Group within two years. I believe this is not the situation Mr. Scott Senior wants to see."
"Yes, and if this news gets out to the media, how will the Twin Group be seen by other companies?"
Many shareholders voiced their opposition.
Their message was clear, and Skyview understood. They wanted to dismiss him and select a new chairman.
Skyview felt uncomfortable but didn't know how to refute them, so he sat awkwardly, feeling pressure pressed on his chest.
"We must believe in Mr. Scott Senior's choice and also believe in Skyview. As long as we give him time, he can surely lead the Twin Group successfully!" Hekka asserted without a doubt.
As Hekka's spoke, people whispered among themselves, many shareholders casting doubtful glances at Skyview, full of skepticism.
Suddenly, one elderly man with a white beard and glasses turned to Skyview, his voice weary but filled with hostility. "How much time do you need?"
With this statement, everyone, including Hekka, turned to stare at Skyview.
If Skyview only let Hekka manage affairs and avoided making mistakes himself, he might still be able to keep his position. But once he made a commitment, the outcome would be different.
Skyview fell silent.
"How many years do you need to become a real leader and make the Twin Group prosperous?" the elderly man with the white beard pressed.
'These cunning old folks, they all want me gone!' Skyview thought furiously.
After careful consideration, Skyview answered seriously, "100 years!"
The shareholders almost burst into laughter. Even the usually expressionless Hekka couldn't help but show a hint of a smile at this moment.
"How could someone be so shameless!" they thought.
"We can only give you three years at most!" the elderly man with the white beard said sternly.
"Three years is too short," Skyview shook his head.
"You have only three years. If you fail to gain the board's approval within that time, you must leave!" the elderly man with the white beard insisted.
"And what if I do gain the board's approval?" Skyview countered.
"What do you have in mind?" the elderly man with the white beard asked indifferently.
"If I succeed, I will fire you all!" Skyview slammed the table, his sharp gaze fixed on the elderly man with a white beard.
Skyview had always respected others, but the elderly man with the white beard was being pushy from the start, eager to kick Skyview out of the Twin Group. Skyview had to prove to everyone that he wasn't someone to be easily pushed around!
"Alright! Everyone, the decision is made, we'll give this young man three years!" the elderly man with the white beard said contentedly, expressing a satisfied smile.
For an ordinary person who used to deliver packages, leading the Twin Group to glory within three years was nothing short of a dream.
Even the most elite businessman couldn't guarantee the company to be more prosperous within three years. In fact, if Skyview could maintain the Twin Group's present status and prevent its decline, it would already be a remarkable success.
Hekka looked at Skyview with a complex expression, sighing deeply.
"Why are you so anxious?" Skyview was stunned.
"They just wanted to force you to make a commitment. You shouldn't have fallen for it." Hekka shook her head.
Skyview smiled casually. "If I can't lead the Twin Group to glory, then what's the point of holding the position of chairman? It's better to give it to someone truly capable!"
Hekka was taken aback by Skyview's words.
Countless people within the group coveted the position of chairman, but Hekka had never seen anyone who willingly resigned after becoming chairman.
The board meeting ended, and everyone left the conference room.
As Skyview walked out of the Twin Towers' entrance, he saw Alice and Willow approaching him from a distance at the same time.
"I passed the interview, but don't think I will thank you. I will definitely use my abilities to prove my own worth!" After saying this, Willow left without looking back.
"Let's have dinner together tonight..." Skyview was about to invite Willow for dinner, but Alice shamelessly approached.
Upon learning Skyview's true identity, Alice, who had previously shown cold disdain, now wore a face full of fake smiles.
"Skyview, I'm keeping my word. Tonight, you can do whatever you want with me," Alice said meaningfully.
