Chapter 279 Getting Something for Nothing
Every organization had its internal drama; that was just how it went. But Kaelen's current antics made it seem like he had a personal vendetta against money.
If Skyview had to sell Lakeview Express, Kaelen would take a hit too, which Erin just couldn't wrap her head around. She figured money ruled everything. Kaelen was a seasoned capitalist and should be all about his bottom line.
Seeing Erin's confusion, Kaelen started to explain. "I've got a serious beef with Skyview," Kaelen said quietly, "and it's not just about a woman."
"Is it really that bad?" Erin was taken aback. In the modern world, such profound hatred felt misplaced.
Kaelen continued, "Because of an accident, my assistant Thelonius died, and Skyview was directly responsible. Thelonius was like a brother to me, and I need to get justice for him."
Erin was shocked but then nodded. "I get it now, sort of."
Kaelen added, "Plus, there's something in it for me too."
Erin asked, "What's in it for you?"
Kaelen replied, "The biggest shareholder doesn't have to be the chairman. I want to be the chairman of the Twin Group, and taking down Skyview's business is the best way to do it!" Kaelen didn't hide his ambition because he knew Erin admired go-getters and couldn't stand rule-followers.
Sure enough, Erin looked at Kaelen with admiration and said, "You've got guts, going up against Skyview! Let's team up. I'll buy Lakeview Express, and you'll become the chairman!"
"Here's to our partnership," Kaelen said with a grin. He knew he had Erin on his side.
'I'm the second-largest shareholder now, and I've got the third on my team. The Davis family's got deep roots in the Twin Group – their influence is mine for the taking. And with Erin backing us up, Skyview, you're going down! This is just the beginning, we'll see how it plays out,' Kaelen thought, his eyes turning cold.
Three days later, in the Twin Group office, Skyview was lounging on a massage chair, with a professional masseuse working her magic to ease his stress. Skyview was feeling pretty good.
Lately, though, Skyview had been super bored. He wanted to hang out with Willow, but she was busy starting a business and doing market research, leaving no time for romance with Skyview.
Everything at Lakeview Express was running like a well-oiled machine. Since it became a big deal for the Twin Group, they threw all their resources at it. With everything on track, Skyview didn't have to lift a finger anymore.
As a true capitalist, Skyview knew the game: let the so-called social elites bust their butts to make him richer while he kicked back and enjoyed the perks. He cruised towards easy money, with his team laboring hard while he indulged in daily delights.
The joys of the rich? Something the poor could never even dream of!
Skyview just hung around the Twin Group, pretending to work but really just watching movies, playing games, getting massages, drinking, listening to music, taking walks, and shopping. Life was sweet. The only downside was that lately, Lily had been strict, and without Oliver around, Skyview's love life was on hold.
"Stop!" Skyview said to the masseuse.
"Is something wrong with my service?" she asked.
"Your massage is fantastic," Skyview said, flipping over and eyeing her long legs, "but your rates are too low. I'm bored. Got anything more expensive?"
"You must be kidding. Our prices are top-notch. But if you want something pricier, I can personally offer it!" she said, taking off her top and revealing her ample chest.
Skyview was stunned, thinking, 'Wow, she's got a huge chest!'
"Do you like what you see?" she asked.
"Absolutely!" Skyview exclaimed, "You've got an incredible body!"
"You're so rich and handsome," she said, moving closer to him, "let me give you a special service you'll never forget!"
Seeing Skyview's wealth, she was determined to offer him something extra special, no matter what. No one could stop her.
Skyview was tempted, but then he remembered this was Hekka's office, and he wasn't sure if there were cameras. Even if there weren't, it felt wrong to do this here.
With a serious face, Skyview said, "Don't try to seduce me. I'm a decent guy and won't fall for it!"
"You must be joking. No man can resist me!" she said, pressing herself against him, "Come on, don't hold back just because I'm beautiful!"
