Chapter 31: Hostile Takeover
Skyview dialed Willow's phone.
"Willow," Skyview cut to the chase. "Is Connor still bothering you?"
"Yes, I've had enough. How can there be such a man in this world?" Willow said with bitterness. "What can we do now? He just keeps sticking to me! When a person is this shameless, I just don’t know what to do."
Although Skyview was much wealthier than Connor, he didn't want to use dirty tactics to harm Connor, which gave Connor a chance to keep harassing Willow. If Skyview was willing to play dirty, he could clear out Connor easily.
But it wasn't worth it for someone like Connor!
Understanding this, Willow felt bitter and troubled.
"Does he think he can be so arrogant just because he's shameless? Don't worry, I'll take care of him!" Skyview boldly declared. "You are my girlfriend, and no one can harass you!"
"Don't break the law, it's not worth it!" Willow said, her expression changing. She was afraid Skyview might do something irrational.
"Don't worry, I won't break the law!" Skyview reassured her. "Sometimes, economic sanctions are more terrifying than crime."
With that, Skyview hung up the phone.
At the same time, a ruthless determination appeared in Skyview's heart. 'Connor, if I don't let you regret what you have done, you won't know how formidable I am!'
"Lily, do some investigation for me!" Skyview went straight to Lily.
Behind Lily, there were forces from both the underworld and the police. It would be a waste not to utilize them.
"Who do you want me to investigate?" Lily asked.
"Connor's father, Brandon Mitchell, the real head of HealthPro Medical Devices Company!" Skyview stated his intentions.
"What do you plan to do?" Lily was surprised.
"Acquire HealthPro Medical Devices Company in a hostile takeover!" Skyview revealed his goal.
Acquisition is a common economic activity.
It means buying a company.
Normally, to acquire a company, one must seek the support of the company's legal owners, shareholders, and leadership through layers of negotiation.
However, these were just normal methods.
Sometimes, even if the company's leadership, shareholders, or legal persons are unwilling, the company can still be acquired by force, known as a hostile takeover.
A hostile takeover can involve manipulating stocks, exposing scandals, exploiting weaknesses, or using power to pressure the target company into selling.
It was not a particularly honorable act, but it was not uncommon in the capital market. Once, a tycoon represented the famous game "Legend" and became the richest person in Golden Valley overnight. When other game companies tried to extort money from this tycoon, he directly acquired the game company through a hostile takeover.
In a capitalistic world, money is king!
With capital in hand, one can prey on smaller capitalists and manipulate them at will. Therefore, Skyview decided to become the big boss of HealthPro Medical Devices Company. When that happened, Connor would be useless, and Skyview could easily make Connor disappear, relieving Willow of his harassment.
"This will be difficult!" Lily remarked. "As far as I know, Brandon's company has no competitors, and its performance is good. He won't sell the company to you!"
"That's why I need you to investigate everything about him!" Skyview said softly, "Everyone in this world has a dark side or vulnerabilities. No one is perfect!"
"I finally understand," Lily looked at Skyview and said solemnly.
"What do you understand?" Skyview inquired.
"I finally understand why Dylan left his inheritance to you. I thought you were just a lucky man, but it turns out you are..." Lily hesitated.
"I am what?" Skyview asked curiously.
"You are—" Lily sighed, "truly capable!"
"You have a keen eye!" Skyview laughed heartily.
Brandon's business was doing well.
As a worker with limited education, Brandon had built his company from scratch and become a successful businessman with tens of millions in assets.
However, life always has its ups and downs.
Although Brandon was wealthy, he had a very domineering wife at home.
Her name was Eleanor Walsh. In the early days of Brandon's entrepreneurship, he relied heavily on his wife's family's influence. In recent years, Eleanor's brother, Zoe Walsh, had risen to become the deputy director of the local public security bureau, wielding significant power.
Eleanor became increasingly overbearing at home, while Brandon had to endure and become the kind of man who feared his wife.
But the more oppressive Eleanor was, the more Brandon sought solace for his soul or body.
And for Brandon, this solace naturally came from young girls.
At some point, Brandon met a young beauty named Jenna Lee. This young lady was barely in her twenties, young enough to be Brandon's daughter. Not only was she young and beautiful, but she was also gentle and charming, much better than Eleanor at home.
For these reasons, Brandon was attracted to Jenna's youth and beauty, while Jenna was drawn to Brandon's wealth. Thus, they developed feelings for each other. Jenna became Brandon's mistress, a source of comfort for Brandon when he faced troubles at home.
Without Jenna as an outlet, Brandon would have collapsed long ago.
At a villa in a secluded area, Brandon, dressed as a plumber, entered in an inconspicuous Audi, Brandon.
To prevent Eleanor from suspecting anything, Brandon was extremely cautious and always disguised himself as a service worker.
Upon entering the room, Brandon embraced Jenna.
"My honey, I've missed you so much!" Brandon grabbed Jenna and kissed her.
"Brandon, you're always in such a hurry," Jenna complained.
