Chapter 211 An Explanation
Skyview finally grinned and said, "Alright, I'll help you out. Any guy who tries to get close to you will have to deal with me first! Don't worry, with me around, you're gonna be single forever!"
Willow rolled her eyes. "Skyview, do you have to be so over the top? 'Single forever'? Seriously?"
He gave her a mock sympathetic look. "But if you're not lonely, how will I ever have you all to myself?"
"Oh, for crying out loud, stop being so cheesy!" Willow exclaimed, pretending to gag. "One more word and I'm done!"
Skyview laughed, raising his hands in surrender. "Okay, I'll behave. Now, about that little problem of yours... I'm gonna need an invite."
"An invite?"
"To the Brighter Futures Ball, duh. I can't just stroll in there uninvited. Security might think I'm crashing the party. Imagine the embarrassment!"
Willow raised an eyebrow, deciding to play along. "Are you saying that the great Mr. Scott, with all his connections, can't get a simple invite?"
Skyview puffed out his chest, pretending to be offended. "Of course I can! Just tell me when and where."
"Tonight, 8:00 PM to midnight," Willow replied. "On the Starlight Voyager. They went all out this year – rented the whole luxury cruise ship. Must've cost a fortune."
"Interesting," Skyview mused. "Consider it a date then. But tell me, Willow, shouldn't we deal with some unfinished business first?" His gaze shifted to John and Yosef, who both visibly cringed under his stare.
John, once the big boss of the Twin Group, now shook like a leaf. He knew he'd messed with the wrong people. Offending Willow was like poking a bear – even the entire Davis Family wouldn't dare. His mind raced, desperately searching for a way to fix this mess.
Yosef, on the other hand, felt only despair. Messing with Willow had been a huge, career-ending mistake.
Ms. Reyes, watching the power dynamics shift at lightning speed, felt a fresh wave of terror. If Skyview alone was a force to be reckoned with, then Skyview, the billionaire chairman of the Twin Group, was an unstoppable typhoon. And Willow, with the Link Family backing her, was a force of nature in her own right. One represented wealth, the other power – an untouchable alliance. John, despite his position, was completely outmatched, reduced to begging for mercy, let alone her, a lowly assistant.
"John," Willow let out a cold snort and said, "We need to settle this. I don't tolerate harassment, and I expect a proper resolution. Disappoint me, and you'll regret it."
John flinched. "Willow, I... I deeply regret it. I assure you, I had no idea about this employee's actions. On behalf of the Davis Family and the Twin Group, I sincerely apologize. Please, forgive us."
"Apologies are cheap, John," Willow shot back, her expression icy.
John, cornered, turned to Skyview with a desperate look. "Mr. Scott, you're our chairman. How do you suggest we handle this?"
Skyview, enjoying the twist in events, smirked. "John, you only remember my position when you're in trouble."
John hung his head, ashamed. "I was wrong. I admit it."
Skyview, sensing something fishy about John's sudden humility, decided to tread carefully. "Alright. Since you admit your mistake, I'll be generous. As chairman of the Twin Group, here's what I propose."
He paused, letting the silence hang before pointing at Yosef. "First, this guy who harassed a female employee has no place in our company. He'll be fired immediately and blacklisted from the industry. Plus, sexual harassment is a crime. He'll be reported to the authorities. What do you think, John?"
John, gritting his teeth, knew he had no choice. "Absolutely, Mr. Scott. His actions were despicable and deserve severe consequences. This punishment is too lenient, if anything!"
"John! You can't do this!" Yosef screamed, realizing he was being thrown under the bus. "I'm your loyal subordinate! Think of everything I've done for you! You can't just abandon me! What will people think?"
"I'm well aware of your 'contributions' to this company," John replied, his voice cold. "I've overlooked your mistakes before, but this is unforgivable. You dug your own grave, Yosef. Don't try to drag me down with you." To John, Yosef was just a pawn, expendable when needed.
"You... you snake!" Yosef shrieked, his face twisted with rage. "You think I don't know your dirty little secrets? Fine, let me rot. But I'm taking you down with me! I'll expose everything!"
