Chapter 299 Facing Doubts

Frederick frowned. "You might not be our savior; you might be the one who drives us into bankruptcy."

Skyview shot back, "I thought you were good with words, but it turns out you're not. I'm your boss; can't you at least give me some compliments?"

Frederick sighed. "I get it, you can pump a lot of cash into FutureTech Games and help our finances. But the real danger isn't being broke; it's when clueless people start bossing around those who know what they're doing."

Skyview nodded, locking eyes with Frederick.

"Let me tell you a story," Frederick began. "There was this super patient programmer working on an app. The product manager kept piling on crazy demands, and the programmer just kept grinding away. But one day, the manager asked for something ridiculous—he wanted the app to change the color of the user's phone case in sync. The programmer finally snapped and punched the manager. I mean, who wouldn't be pissed at such a dumb request?"

Skyview, quick on the uptake, laughed. "So, you're saying you don't want to be led by someone clueless?"

"Exactly," Frederick said. "I can't stand it; I've been burned by it before."

Skyview asked, "So you think I'm that kind of guy?"

Frederick replied, "I've done my homework on you. Some folks say you're just a lucky guy who inherited a $50 billion fortune. But I know you're not just some rich kid; you're talented."

Skyview chuckled. "You've got a good eye. Not many people recognize my skills."

Frederick added, "You got into Maplebrook Institute of Technology, which is ranked fourth in the world. Anyone who gets in there has to be top-notch."

Skyview said with a hint of self-deprecation, "Yeah, but I never graduated from Maplebrook. Otherwise, I wouldn't have ended up delivering packages."

Skyview had given up his studies for Alice. Back then, he didn't care about money or material things. But that lifestyle drove Alice away, making him realize that this world revolved around money. Without it, happiness was hard to come by. Sure, wealthy people weren't always happy, but they were generally happier than those who were poor.

If Skyview had finished his degree at Maplebrook, he might not be a billionaire, but he could've easily made it to the middle class. A degree from Maplebrook was worth its weight in gold. Sadly, once a choice was made, there was no going back. But now, Skyview had something even more powerful than a degree—capital.

Frederick wasn't one to shy away from flattery; he was just straightforward. Now, he praised sincerely, "A degree is important for most people, but for a few, it's just a piece of paper! You're one of those few!"

Skyview laughed heartily. "I thought you couldn't praise me, but you're really good at it."

Skyview was just another rich guy in Golden Valley, not recognized by the elite universities. If he could rise to Erin's level, the Maplebrook Institute of Technology would probably hand him a degree on a silver platter.

Frederick continued, "Getting into Maplebrook Institute of Technology itself is a testament to your capabilities. Inheriting your fortune and then making smart moves, like selling Lakeview Express to Erin at a premium or setting up Oliver's partnership between LiveWave and Penguin Company, are impressive business feats," Frederick remarked. "I don't question your business smarts."

Skyview responded calmly, "You doubt my abilities in the gaming industry, don't you?"

Frederick replied, "I am worried about your lack of experience in the gaming industry. If someone unfamiliar with it runs a gaming company, failure seems inevitable."

Skyview said, "But experience isn't everything!"

"Times have changed," Frederick said. "The gaming industry isn't what it once was, when a good idea could effortlessly transform into a successful product and company. It's matured, and the competition is fierce. Nowadays, someone without a deep understanding of games has little chance of steering a gaming company to success."

"You've said quite a bit," Skyview responded coldly. "It seems you're reluctant to accept my leadership?"

Frederick replied carefully, "It's not that I don't want to accept your leadership. With the Twin Group holding the majority of the company's shares, it's clear I must. But surely you don't want FutureTech Games to fail, right? I simply propose that I manage the gaming side while you oversee the business aspects. What do you think?"

"No way!" Skyview said firmly, "I want to manage everything! The business, the games—every single aspect. I want to control it all!"

Frederick's face grew somber. His worst fear had come true. Mystery Island, a game into which he had poured his heart and soul, was at risk of being ruined by Skyview's potential mismanagement.
