Chapter 189 Settle Down

In fact, the Penguin Company might seem impressive, but it was not as formidable as it appeared.

Although the Penguin Company tended to plagiarize other companies' products, it didn't always result in success.

Previously, Penguin Company failed to copy popular software from other companies, resulting in significant losses and some damage to its reputation. This led to substantial financial losses, so now they were cautious about their imitative moves.

While the Penguin Company faced difficulties in replicating products, it demonstrated adaptability by considering alternative strategies, such as acquisition.

"Let's not forget, Benjamin," Skyview interjected, fixing Benjamin with a steall gaze, "Oliver and I are worth considerably more than 1.5 billion dollars, even individually. Hilda was desperate for your investment, but we? We have options. We have the capital to weather this storm, to capitalize on the restructuring of Shark Live and LiveSync. We can seize the market share, and we can do it without Penguin Company."

Oliver nodded in agreement. "And let's not forget the potential of an IPO down the line. Our value will only increase. Partnering with Penguin Company would be mutually beneficial, of course, but it's not make-or-break for us. 1.5 billion is a fair price, Benjamin. More than fair, considering what you're getting."

Unlike Hilda, who had been utterly dependent on Penguin Company's goodwill, Skyview and Oliver held all the cards. They had leverage, and they weren't afraid to use it.

"Very well," Benjamin conceded, feeling a bead of sweat trickle down his temple. "I need to consult with Adam. If you'll excuse me for a moment."

Skyview waved his hand dismissively. "Take your time, Benjamin. Oliver and I will indulge in a little game while we wait."

Benjamin retreated to his office, his mind racing. He quickly dialed Adam's number.

"No need to explain, Benjamin. I'm fully aware of the situation," Adam's voice boomed through the receiver. He had been monitoring the negotiations closely. The live streaming industry was a gold mine, and Adam was not about to let it slip through his fingers.

The moment the news report aired, Adam knew that Shark Live and LiveSync were finished. LiveWave was the future.

A shiver ran down Benjamin's spine.

He thought, 'Adam know it! Every move I made and every word i uttered were scrutinized. He is unnervingly perceptive.'

"Adam, what should we do?" Benjamin asked, his voice tight with tension. "Should we agree to their terms? 1.5 billion..."

"Accept it, Benjamin," Adam stated, his voice firm and unwavering. "1.5 billion is a pittance compared to what we stand to gain. Skyview and Oliver are ruthless, but they're smart. They know their worth. Consider this a bargain."

"Very well," Benjamin said, a wave of relief washing over him. "I'll inform them immediately. I just hope this is the right decision."

"Trust me, Benjamin," Adam reassured him. "This is the right decision. You have my word."

Moments later, Benjamin re-entered the conference room, a triumphant smile plastered on his face.

"Mr. Scott, Oliver, I'm pleased to inform you that Penguin Company has decided to invest in LiveWave," he announced, his voice brimming with false enthusiasm. "We agree to your terms: 1.5 billion for a 25% stake in your company. I believe this partnership will revolutionize the live streaming landscape."

"Excellent," Skyview said, extending his hand. "A pleasure doing business with you."

"The pleasure is all ours," Oliver echoed, shaking Benjamin's hand.

"I have the contract right here," Benjamin said, producing a thick sheaf of papers. "If you'll just give it a quick once-over..."

Oliver accepted the document and passed it to his lawyer, who meticulously scanned each page.

"Everything seems to be in order, Oliver," the lawyer confirmed.

"Perfect," Oliver said, signing his name on the dotted line.

And with that, LiveWave officially became a subsidiary of Penguin Company.
