Chapter 298 First Meeting
Sensing Leah's distrust, Skyview kept it cool. Talk was cheap, and bragging just made one look like a fraud. Actions spoke louder than words.
Skyview planned to win over the FutureTech Games crew with real actions, showing them that working for Skyview was the way to go. "Where's Frederick?" Skyview asked.
"In his office," Leah replied. "It's on the left. I don't have time to show you; I've got work to do." With that, Leah went back to her 3D modeling.
On the way, Skyview noticed FutureTech Games was down to about thirty employees, but they were all working like crazy. Even though they could only afford cheap food, their faith was still strong.
"Mr. Scott, you're right," Lily said, starting to feel more confident about the company. "The remaining employees are truly elite!"
"These folks work really hard," Skyview said softly. "They deserve better treatment."
Soon, Skyview and the others were outside Frederick's office. The door was a transparent glass one, not fully closed, so they could see and hear everything inside.
Skyview saw two people. One was a middle-aged guy in a casual suit who looked worn out. Despite his neat hair and well-groomed beard, his square face had a gloomy look. His bloodshot eyes and anxious expressions showed he was in a bad state. A guy under too much pressure and about to break down usually looked like this. Skyview recognized this middle-aged man as Frederick.
Sitting opposite Frederick was a chubby guy with a friendly and prosperous look, but his eyes occasionally flashed with shrewdness. He was a typical sharp businessman.
"Frederick, you can't even buy a house in that location with money now. Selling it would be a loss," Vincent said to Frederick. "This is your last asset. If you sell this house, you'll have nothing left!"
Frederick gave a bitter smile and said, "I bought this house a long time ago. Selling it now, I've already made a profit."
Vincent said, "We're friends, so I'll be straight with you. Property prices in primary and secondary cities will continue to rise. By the end of this year, there will probably be a small increase. If you wait a bit longer, you could make an extra million dollars!"
"No need to wait!" Frederick said firmly. "If I don't sell the house now, my company won't make it. I've only got twenty grand in my bank account, and that's not enough to cover daily expenses. I know this house is my last asset, but I don't have a choice."
"Alright." Vincent sighed. "If you're ready to part with your assets to save the company, I'll help you find a buyer. After all, I'm a well-known real estate agent here in Golden Isle City."
"Thanks, Vincent," Frederick said.
"No big deal," Vincent said as he stood up. "You have guests outside; I'll head out now!"
"I'll see you out!" Frederick said, standing up to walk Vincent out.
The two walked out of the office. Vincent looked at Skyview carefully and said, "You must be loaded!"
Skyview replied calmly, "Probably richer than you."
Vincent said, "If you can invest in Frederick, that would be great. I really don't want to help him sell his house. He's worked his whole life for that place, and selling it means starting over."
Skyview said, "If he's willing to work with me, there's no need to sell the house, and the funds will be more than he can imagine."
"Let's hope so," Vincent said, turning to Frederick. "Frederick, goodbye. You should entertain your important guest first!" With that, Vincent left gracefully.
Skyview and Frederick exchanged glances. Skyview smiled and said, "Frederick, your friend is good to you and genuinely cares about you."
"I owe Vincent a lot of money, and he's never asked me for it!" Frederick said, watching Vincent's departing figure. "When I have money, I'll pay him back with interest! Mr. Scott, please come in!"
Skyview wasn't surprised that Frederick recognized him. It would be normal for a leader of a subsidiary to recognize the chairman of the parent company.
In Frederick's office, Skyview and the others took their seats. "I'm not one for beating around the bush," Skyview began. "I'm here to take over FutureTech Games. The reason? It stems from some high-level disputes within the parent company. Frederick, whether you're aware of it or not doesn't matter."
"I am aware," Frederick replied. "Mr. Scott, you're vying for the chairman position against Kaelen, the new second-largest shareholder of the parent company. Both FutureTech Games and Stellar Gaming Studios are pawns in your contest."
Skyview said calmly, "But this is also an opportunity, isn't it?"
Frederick sighed. "It is an opportunity. We've pleaded with the parent company for help, but they abandoned us, viewing us as dead weight. Now, on the verge of bankruptcy, you appear out of nowhere. Perhaps you're our last hope!"
Skyview laughed. "You really know how to flatter! I am indeed your savior!"
