Chapter 281 Emergency Meeting
If he was still broke, no matter how sharp Skyview was, he wouldn't have noticed Erin's strengths and weaknesses. But now, with Skyview rolling in dough, he could see Erin was itching to invest. Skyview's situation had flipped, and he had a ton of cash. Sure, it wasn't as much as Erin's, but Skyview could now get a read on what Erin was up to.
Hekka thought about it and realized it made sense. In this world, money just kept stacking up. Most folks couldn't even scrape together enough to open a small shop, but when they threw their cash into WealthWave, Erin ended up swimming in it. As long as there wasn't a war, that money would keep pouring in. But money lost value over time, and it lost value fast.
Capital couldn't just sit idle; it needed to grow, or those holding it wouldn't make it. Erin had a mountain of money, which was a double-edged sword. It could make her successful and respected, even by the government. But it also trapped her. It wasn't really her money in the end. If she didn't use it wisely, it would just slip away.
Erin had said in public speeches that when money hit astronomical figures, it no longer belonged to a person. It was society's trust in them to use it well. If they couldn't handle it and betrayed that trust, they'd end up with nothing.
Erin had to prove she could use this capital wisely, and for it to grow, it needed to be invested. When they thought someone was blocking their capital growth, they'd turn into devils and take them down without a second thought.
So, in this business era, one had to not only create projects but also engage in power struggles to keep their voice in the game of capital. Erin was obviously smart and capable. Despite many people investing in her and her shares continually getting diluted, Erin remained unique and irreplaceable to the ApexTech Group.
And Erin, now loaded with cash, had to keep investing. Movies, new media, online books, shared bikes, food delivery, TripLink... Erin's money was everywhere. Unless it was a business she couldn't touch, she invested. Even though a lot of her investments flopped, it didn't really matter.
If Erin wanted to invest, Lakeview Express and the shared container business were very tempting to her. For Erin, anything that could be solved with money wasn't a problem. But Skyview didn't want to dump too much into businesses with unclear profits; he preferred to make money fast.
Erin was interested in buying, and Skyview was ready to sell. This was something Kaelen didn't see coming. He had no idea Skyview didn't care much about Lakeview Express. If someone offered a high price, Skyview would be more than happy to sell.
"How much are you planning to sell it for?" After piecing everything together, Hekka couldn't help but admire Skyview's foresight. She also didn't plan to stop Skyview from selling Lakeview Express.
"I own 51% of Lakeview Express, making me the controlling shareholder. My minimum price is $5 billion. If I can sell it for that, I'll make a profit of $2.5 billion!" Skyview paused for a moment and said, "Anything less, and it's not worth selling!"
Lakeview Express wasn't initially a favorite within the Twin Group, so Dylan held most of the shares. Skyview had also transferred some shares to Mason. Even so, Skyview still owned 51% of the shares. It was safe to say that Lakeview Express was almost entirely controlled by Dylan before.
"I'll find a way to contact Erin. She has plenty of money, so I'll ask her for more. $8 billion might be a suitable price." Hekka also planned to sell Lakeview Express. However, Hekka wanted more than Skyview; she was aiming for $8 billion.
"Take your time negotiating!" Skyview said, "I'm not in a hurry."
At that moment, Hekka's phone buzzed. She answered the call, exchanged a few words, and then hung up, looking very puzzled.
"What's up?" Skyview asked curiously. From Hekka's expression, Skyview knew something big had happened.
Hekka frowned and said, "The board wants to hold an emergency meeting, and we all have to attend. I have a bad feeling about this. I wasn't notified in advance about this emergency meeting, and it's out of my control."
"I bet it's John organizing it again. I sent Hilda to prison, so he naturally hates me," Skyview said with a faint smile. "But I'm not scared of him."
Skyview was full of confidence. The situation was different now. After all, Skyview had significantly weakened the Davis family's power within the Twin Group. The Davis family was no longer a threat!
