Chapter 71 Pay Back Without Hesitation
Heavencrest Bank was clearly striking Skyview when they were down.
But that was just how the world worked—people tended to step on the down and flatter the up.
At the end of the day, Skyview's foundation was too unstable. He got rich overnight with his net worth terrifyingly high, but their actual network was far inferior to that of an old-money tycoon like John.
John could simply leverage his connections at Heavencrest Bank to cut off Skyview's precarious cash flow. That was the power of connections.
"Skyview, can't you pay back the money?" Hilda laughed. "As far as I know, you may have 10 billion dollars in wealth, but you can only access a mere 150 million dollars. And you've already spent a lot of that. It looks like you can't repay Heavencrest Bank's debt, and Lakeview Express is destined for bankruptcy!"
Hilda made no effort to hide his schadenfreude.
He was envious of Skyview!
'How could Skyview inherit $10 billion?
'How could Skyview get the chairman's position?
'Skyview was just a dropout, a lowly delivery person!
'Skyview has no reason to live better than me,' he exclaimed in his heart and pulled up a cold smile.
Seeing Lakeview Express on the brink of bankruptcy and Skyview in such a sorry state, Hilda was delighted and felt completely at ease.
Hilda felt extremely satisfied!
"Skyview, it looks like I've won this bet," John sneered, "If you're willing to give up the chairman position of the Twin Group, the company can help you repay the debt. If you do well, you might climb back to the position of the chairman again. Think about it!" John said with a decent manner but actually thought to himself, 'Once you're no longer the chairman, I'll make sure you never rise in the Twin Group again!'
Skyview smirked coldly.
John and Hilda were working together to force him to give up the chairman position. But Skyview wasn't stupid. He knew the importance of the title. As long as he held the title of chairman, even without real power, he could maintain the upper hand. With increasing strength, he would eventually become the real chairman.
Once he lost the title, climbing back up would be nearly impossible. If he could turn the tide, it would be nothing short of a miracle.
But in this situation, even Skyview didn't believe he could create a miracle!
He fully understood he was facing great adversity. If he stepped down as chairman, not only would he fail to turn the tide, but John would soon kick him out of the Twin Group entirely. If he was lucky, he might become an ordinary rich person; if not, John would seize his wealth, leaving him with nothing.
Skyview never intended to entrust his fate to the mercy of his enemies.
Moreover, Skyview wasn't at a dead end.
It was just John's wishful thinking that Skyview was at a dead end!
John and his crew thought they were clever, but they didn't know Skyview had already prepared countermeasures and wasn't afraid of Heavencrest Bank's actions.
"Your faces disgust me," Skyview said coldly, looking at the smug John and Hilda. "Do you really think I can't repay the debt?"
"You can't!" Hilda said. "People like you who get rich overnight tend to squander money. How much of that $15 million do you have left? Dylan was right about limiting your spending. I knew it. You can't come up with more money! In the short term, at least before Lakeview Express Company is seized by the bank, you have no way out! You've already lost!"
Skyview looked at Hilda as if he were an idiot.
Hilda remained unmoved, convinced he had won.
He thought Skyview's struggles were just the wails of a loser, not worth mentioning!
"Mr. Scott, please pay it right now!" Emily said, "If you don't pay, we'll see you in court, and the court always sides with us!"
Skyview sighed. "Emily, I'm a billionaire worth $10 billion. There's no need to be so ruthless for the sake of the Davis family only."
Emily coldly replied, "So, you're determined not to pay?"
"I'll pay!" Skyview suddenly said.
"What? You... you'll pay?" Emily was shocked.
John and Hilda also looked at Skyview in surprise.
They had believed that Skyview couldn't come up with the money.
Even if Hekka wanted to lend Skyview money, they could use Dylan's will and company policies to go against it. In their calculations, Skyview had no chance of repaying.
'Skyview seems able to afford the repayment! He looks very confident! This... this is impossible,' thought John and Hilda.
"For a billionaire like me, this debt is nothing," Skyview said proudly. "Lily, settle the account with Emily. We won't be cooperating with Heavencrest Bank anymore!"
"Emily, let's settle the loan," Lily said, holding a briefcase and approaching Emily.
Emily was dumbfounded. She had accepted a lot of money from the Davis family and heard from them that Skyview definitely couldn't repay the money, so she came to make things difficult for Skyview.
But if Skyview could easily repay, what did that mean? It meant Skyview was a very wealthy client! Offending such a big client was a huge mistake.
"Sign here!" After some processing, Lily pointed to a document and said to Emily, "We've transferred the exact amount of the money to your bank!"
"I... I'll confirm it!" Emily said, her voice trembling.
