Chapter 274 Stock Swap

John listened closely, taking in Kaelen's words. The guy made some solid points, sparking a bit of hope in him.The Davis family's tough exterior was hiding some serious cracks. They were always on the back foot, reacting to Skyview's every move. If this kept up, they were toast. Maybe teaming up with someone as driven and clever as Kaelen was the way to go.

"You've made a strong case, Kaelen," John said, a hint of respect in his voice. "But I need more. One last push to seal the deal."

"I've got one more reason, John," Kaelen said, his eyes shining with confidence. "Before we met, I thought I had a fifty-fifty shot. But after seeing your determination to take down Skyview, I'm sure we can win."

He let the silence hang for a moment. "My fifth and final reason: Mason is now on our side."

John's eyes widened. "What? Are you serious? Mason's with us?"

Mason, the third-largest shareholder in Twin Group, had been a pain ever since he teamed up with Skyview. His five percent stake, combined with Skyview's, gave them a big edge.

"It's true," Kaelen said, a hint of amusement in his voice. "And Skyview has no clue. With Mason on our side, our chances skyrocket."

"But how?" John asked, still trying to wrap his head around it. "Mason and Skyview had a good thing going. Why would he switch?"

"Loyalty is a tricky thing, John, easily swayed by a better offer," Kaelen explained. "Mason's always been about looking out for himself. He was with you, then Skyview, and now me. It's just smart business."

John leaned back, a slow smile spreading across his face. "You've convinced me, Kaelen. Your five reasons did the trick. But I still have some concerns."

"Go ahead, John," Kaelen said, staying cool.

"This plan, this revenge... it's a big deal," John said, his gaze sharp. "Why go this far? What's driving you?"

"Revenge is a strong motivator," Kaelen said, his voice hardening. "Skyview almost killed me, and my assistant, Thelonius, died because of him. Some sacrifices are worth it for that kind of loss."

Behind him, Bridgette spoke, her voice filled with barely controlled anger. "Thelonius was my brother. His death won't go unpunished. I'd give up everything to see Skyview fall." Her beautiful face was twisted with hatred.

John looked at Hilda for confirmation. "Thelonius was more than just an assistant to Kaelen," Hilda said, looking grim. "He was a close friend, a confidant. His death changed everything. It's reasonable that Kaelen chose to seek revenge."

"Skyview is a tough enemy," John said, turning back to Kaelen. "But I can't believe revenge is your only reason."

Kaelen's lips twisted into a sly grin. "Of course not. There's also the loot. With Skyview out of the picture, his assets and influence are up for grabs. It's a chance to tilt the game in our favor."

John threw his head back and laughed, a deep, genuine sound. "Well said, Kaelen! This world belongs to the bold, to those who dare to seize their destiny. I'm too old for these battles. I'll leave the fight against Skyview to you."

"So, we have a deal?" Kaelen asked, extending his hand.

"Deal," John confirmed, shaking Kaelen's hand firmly. "Let's get the contracts ready."

Bridgette pulled the documents from her briefcase, and John called in his lawyer to check them over. After a thorough review, the lawyer nodded. "Everything looks good. You can proceed."

With a flourish, John signed his name, followed by his official seal and fingerprint. Kaelen did the same, and just like that, the deal was done. Kaelen was now the second-largest shareholder in Twin Group.

"Pleasure doing business with you, John," Kaelen said, a triumphant glint in his eyes.

"The pleasure's all mine, Kaelen," John replied, a genuine smile on his face.

But their smiles didn't last long. The sound of sirens cut through the air, killing the celebratory mood. Everyone froze in confusion.

In no time, a group of uniformed officers burst into the Davis family living room, led by a familiar face: Skyview.

Skyview, flanked by a bunch of prosecutors, took in the scene with a look of calculated surprise. "Kaelen," he drawled, his voice dripping with fake concern. "I thought you were on death's door at Radiant Care. And here you are, cozying up with the Davis family. How interesting. Smell that, gentlemen? The stench of conspiracy is thick in the air."

Before Kaelen could respond, Bridgette rounded on Skyview, her eyes blazing with fury. "You! You're Skyview!" she spat, her voice shaking with anger.

"Yes," Skyview replied, a smug grin on his face.

"Do you even recognize me?" Bridgette pressed, her voice low and dangerous.

Skyview glanced at Kaelen, then back at Bridgette, a cruel smile playing on his lips. "Let me guess... Kaelen's latest conquest?"

"My name is Bridgette!" she hissed, her voice dripping with venom. "Remember it well!"

"Oh, I will," Skyview purred, clearly enjoying her distress.

"Thelonius is my brother," Bridgette said, each word hitting like a hammer.

The realization hit Skyview, and his smile faltered for just a moment. He knew why she was here, why she looked at him with such burning hatred. He'd had Thelonius killed. But he felt no remorse, only a cold satisfaction. Anyone who dared to threaten him deserved their fate.

"How touching," Skyview remarked, his voice flat. "A devoted assistant, a loving sister. Kaelen, you sure know how to pick your loyal followers."
