Chapter 163 Fake

"Impossible! Adam's not insane!" Benjamin laughed as if Skyview had told a particularly funny joke. "It would take him days to even make two hundred million! The man's notoriously frugal, always packing leftovers. Two hundred million to streamers? Preposterous!"

Skyview pressed on. "I hear Adam has a lovely daughter."

"What are you implying?" Benjamin interrupted, fixing Skyview with a sharp glare. "Don't even go there!"

Skyview chuckled. "Relax, Benjamin, my thoughts are perfectly innocent! I'm merely posing a hypothetical. Imagine if Adam's daughter gifted a streamer two hundred million. How would he react?"

"Firstly," Benjamin retorted, "his daughter would never do such a thing. She received a top-notch education, including financial management. Reckless spending isn't in her vocabulary! And transferring that kind of money would definitely raise flags. Adam would have to authorize it. Even if she somehow managed it, he'd probably ground her for life! It's not about the money itself; two hundred million is a drop in the bucket for him. It's about the principle. The sheer stupidity of it! Tossing away a fortune like that? Unthinkable!"

Skyview shifted uncomfortably in his seat.

He, of all people, knew it wasn't unthinkable. He'd done it himself.

After an awkward chuckle, he continued. "Adam's the twentieth richest person on the planet. Do you think Bill Gates, the wealthiest, or his children, would ever tip a streamer two hundred million?"

"Absolutely not," Benjamin stated. "No one earns that kind of money to throw it away on such frivolous things!"

Skyview's tone turned serious. "Exactly. Neither the first nor the twentieth richest person would do it. And someone capable of such a donation wouldn't be an unknown entity; they wouldn't have the means. The logic is simple: this 'Boring' character probably doesn't exist!"

Benjamin turned a suspicious gaze towards Hilda.

He, too, found it hard to believe anyone would be so extravagant.

Hilda's confidence had initially convinced him, but now doubts clouded his judgment.

He pondered, "200 million isn't just something you stumble upon; it definitely belongs to someone. Those fools who throw all their assets at streamers couldn't possibly be worth 200 million themselves. And someone who casually throws around 200 million must not consider it a big deal! Anyone with that kind of money must be at least in the top 100 of the Forbes list! But even among the top 100, there's no one that foolish! So who on earth is this Boring?"

"Are you questioning his existence?" Hilda challenged, addressing both Skyview and Benjamin. "He is truly rich; not everyone values money the same way you do!"

Skyview laughed. "Hilda, that's a weak explanation, even for you."

"Are you or questioning 'Boring'?" he pressed, his voice laced with ice.

"Yes, Hilda, I am," Skyview stated plainly.

"You're just jealous!"

"Believe what you want," Skyview shrugged. "But I think this 'Boring' is a figment of your imagination. And even if he is real, it's all a charade. He won't elevate Shark Live; he'll make you a laughingstock."

"That's enough, Skyview!" Hilda snapped. "Do I need to show you our financial records?"

"By all means," Skyview challenged. "He made the deposit two mornings ago. Even with processing delays, the two hundred million should be in your account by now. Show us the bank statement."

"And if I do?" Hilda asked quietly.

"Then LiveWave will withdraw from this competition," Skyview declared.

"Fine! Get ready to admit defeat!" Hilda's confidence in Boring remained unshaken.

Just yesterday, he'd had Kevin confirm with Golden Valley Bank. The transaction was recorded and being processed. He thought the funds should be available by now.

However, Kevin managed Shark Live's finances, so he needed Kevin to fax the statement.

Without hesitation, Hilda dialed Kevin's number, putting the call on speakerphone for all to hear.

"Kevin, the two hundred million from 'Boring' should be in the account, correct? I need you to fax me the bank statement immediately!"

A beat of silence followed, then Kevin's voice, unusually hesitant. "Hilda, there's a problem."

"What is it?" Hilda's heart skipped a beat. "Tell me what's going on!"

"The money hasn't arrived," Kevin confessed.

"What?" Hilda was stunned. "What happened? Is the bank transfer taking longer than usual?"

"I've been contacting them," Kevin said, his voice strained. "But Golden Valley Bank... well, they discovered a potential system breach. They've frozen all transactions while they investigate. The money's on hold."

"What?" Hilda was speechless.

He thought, 'Just as Boring's two hundred million is about to clear, the bank conveniently discovered a security breach and froze everything?

"The coincidence is too much to bear."

"Don't worry, Hilda," Kevin reassured him, "I'm heading to the bank personally to sort it out."

"Please do," Hilda breathed, hanging up the phone. A sense of dread washed over him.

The entire conversation, broadcast through the speakerphone, hung heavy in the air.
