Chapter 210 A Small Request
Regarding Skyview's talent for cursing, Willow even felt a bit of admiration.
Her family had pressured her to attend the Brighter Futures Ball specifically to meet Kaelen, a business tycoon from the prestigious Darkmoon Family of Skyscape City. He was everything they wanted for her: wealthy, ambitious, and well-connected. But Willow felt nothing but revulsion towards him.
Initially, she was lost on how to handle the situation, but Skyview's arrival sparked an idea.
'Who better to deal with an unwanted suitor than a man who could curse him into oblivion?' She made up her mind.
The prospect of Kaelen seething and spluttering beneath a relentless torrent of Skyview's invectives elicited a malevolent satisfaction within her.
"Kaelen, you will regret ever setting your sights on me," she thought, a sly smile playing on her lips.
Skyview, no fool, saw right through her innocent facade. "You want me to curse someone for you, don't you?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
Willow pouted, feigning helplessness. "What else can I do? Kaelen is a formidable man. If it were anyone else, I wouldn't ask. But you, Skyview... You're different. You can handle him."
Flattery, she knew, was the key to unlocking Skyview's ego.
Her words had the desired effect. Skyview puffed up like a preening peacock. "Of course I can handle him," he declared, his voice dripping with arrogance. "No man alive can compare to me. This Kaelen... Tell me more about him. How formidable are we talking?"
"Well," Willow began, drawing out the word for dramatic effect. "You've heard of Skyscape City, right?"
"Naturally," Skyview replied as if any fool would know about it.
"Kaelen hails from the Darkmoon Family, one of the four most powerful families in Skyscape City," Willow explained. "He's ambitious, ruthless, constantly vying for power with the Smith Family. Rumor has it he has his sights set on becoming the Prime Minister of Skyscape City."
Skyview scoffed. "Prime Minister of a tiny city-state? Please. Your father, the mayor of Golden Isle City, outranks him by far."
It was clear that Skyview held little regard for anyone outside his immediate sphere of influence.
"True," Willow conceded, though she secretly shared his sentiment. "But Skyscape City, while small, is a sovereign nation recognized by the United Nations. They have a voice on the world stage."
"He's not even Prime Minister yet," Skyview pointed out, waving a dismissive hand.
"But his business acumen is undeniable," Willow countered. "He's a shrewd investor, a financial titan. He was instrumental in bringing WealthWave to Skyscape City, invested heavily in TripLink, and has ties to Erin's Southern Club and SparkLoom. He's a force to be reckoned with."
"Sounds utterly unremarkable," Skyview declared, his arrogance reaching new heights. "Bringing WealthWave to Skyscape City likely involved more connections than actual skill. Kaelen... He's nothing special. Certainly no match for me."
Willow stifled a laugh. Skyview's ego was truly a thing of wonder. "Alright, alright," she said, holding up her hands in mock surrender. "You're the best, Skyview. Invincible. Now, about getting Kaelen to back off... I'm counting on you. Do this for me, and I promise, you'll be handsomely rewarded."
"Oh?" Skyview's eyes lit up, his interest piqued. "And what kind of reward are we talking about?"
"What could be more rewarding than being my escort tonight?" Willow purred, leaning closer to him. "Imagine the rumors, the speculation. Everyone at the ball will be talking about us. And who knows, Skyview... Maybe, just maybe, if you play your cards right, you might even get to be my official boyfriend."
"Now that," Skyview said, a predatory gleam in his eyes, "is a reward worth fighting for. But I have one small condition."
"Don't push your luck, Skyview," Willow warned, though her tone held a hint of amusement. "What is it?"
"After I've dealt with this Kaelen character," Skyview said, his voice dropping to a husky whisper, "I want a kiss. A real one."
Willow hesitated and then sighed dramatically.
"Fine," she agreed, rolling her eyes. "One kiss. But that's all you're getting."
She couldn't hide a hint of excitement; Skyview's kisses, though unexpected, were thrilling.
