Chapter 280 Intentionally Selling
Just as Skyview was about to get seduced, the office door swung open, and there stood Hekka, Suzanne, and Lily, all looking totally shocked.
"What the hell is going on?" Hekka snapped.
The gorgeous masseuse jumped up and backed away from Skyview. She was trying to win Skyview over, but now that Hekka had busted in, that plan was toast.
"I gotta go, bye," the masseuse stammered, grabbing her stuff and bolting out of there. The intense glares from Hekka and the others had her freaking out.
Skyview let out a sigh of relief. "Good thing you showed up just in time."
Hekka frowned. "Is this what you call a massage?"
"Pervert!" Lily yelled. "Big pervert!"
Suzanne chimed in, "I leave for five minutes to use the restroom, and you can't keep it together? You even promised Willow you'd love her forever. Men are all the same!"
All three of them looked at Skyview with pure disdain. Feeling wronged, Skyview shouted, "You've got it all wrong! It's not what you think!"
Hekka smirked. "Oh really? Then what's the real story?"
Skyview explained, "She was giving me a legit massage, and then out of nowhere, she started coming onto me. I was just about to push her away when you guys walked in! She's just shallow and couldn't resist my good looks."
"You're disgusting!" Hekka shot back. "Enough with the boasting!"
Lily rolled her eyes. "Even if she did come onto you, I bet you were all for it."
Suzanne added, "You really love to brag."
Skyview shook his head. "I can't explain it to you. I'm really helpless here!"
Hekka walked over, sat in the office chair, and said, "Enough with the nonsense. Are you planning to keep slacking off like this?"
"Living the good life is my duty," Skyview said, all self-righteous. "I want to live in luxury without lifting a finger!"
Hekka sighed. "You're such a scoundrel!"
Skyview sat down across from Hekka. "Thanks for the compliment."
Hekka said, "By the way, there's something I need to talk to you about."
"Go ahead," Skyview replied.
Hekka said, "Erin plans to fully acquire Lakeview Express."
Skyview shrugged. "No big deal."
Hekka slammed the table, furious. "Can you be serious for once?"
Skyview straightened up. "Okay, I can."
Hekka calmed down. "So, what do you think about Erin's plan to fully acquire Lakeview Express?"
Skyview wanted to joke, but seeing Hekka's serious face, he knew better. "As long as the price is right, sell it to Erin."
Hekka looked surprised. "Why? The valuable part of Lakeview Express is the shared locker business model, which was your brilliant idea!"
Skyview shrugged. "When I came up with that business model, it was just to handle the crisis back then. Now that the crisis is over, those shared lockers aren't a big deal to me. I always planned to sell it, but I was worried the Davis family on the board would make a fuss, so I kept quiet."
Hekka looked confused. "Why sell it? The project has so much potential!"
"If it didn't have potential, it wouldn't fetch a good price," Skyview said. "But Lakeview Express has its issues, and the shared lockers have a major flaw. Selling it to someone with deep pockets and getting a big payout is the best move."
Hekka asked, "What flaws does Lakeview Express have?"
"Look, the courier business is brutal these days," Skyview said, leaning back. "There are too many competitors, and suppliers are driving down our prices. We're barely making a profit, and keeping warehouses, trucks, and employees is expensive. Lakeview Express has been a money pit from the start, one of the worst investments Twin Group ever made. So, selling it for a good price? That's a win-win."
Skyview continued, "And a courier company needs a supporting e-commerce website, which we don't have. We only serve other shopping sites. A courier company without its own shopping site lacks a solid foundation. This industry isn't that profitable!"
Hekka thought for a moment. "So, what's the flaw in the shared lockers?"
"Those shared lockers look cool, but they're basically just a fancier version of shared bikes," Skyview said with a smirk. "They need a ton of cash upfront, and after that, it's a struggle to make money. Remember those shared bike companies? They got a bunch of money, then the founders took off with it. Same thing with these lockers. You need someone else to take over and run them. Making money on them? Forget it! At least the bike companies could collect deposits. We can't even do that. If we don't sell them off soon, what are we waiting for?"
After Skyview's explanation, Hekka got it. The shared lockers, despite looking promising, didn't have much practical use.
"But Erin's not dumb, right? Why would he buy something that's a money loser?" Hekka asked.
Skyview grinned. "Because Erin's got money to burn!"
"What do you mean?" Hekka asked, puzzled.
Skyview said, "Erin's loaded, you know? She's got more money than she knows what to do with. Isn't that a little scary? Other people worry about having enough to invest, but her problem is having too much money and not enough places to put it. She's investing in everything because she's got so much cash! If money isn’t invested, it depreciates. She has to invest!"
He added, "So, projects like those shared lockers, even if they're not that great, as long as they look promising, Erin will throw money at them!"
