Chapter 59 Paying a Visit
The Everett Family Mansion.
A Porsche slowly arrived at the entrance of the Everett Family Mansion under the escort of several Audis.
Skyview stepped out of the car with an arrogant stride, heading loftily towards the Everett Family Mansion.
Behind Skyview, there was a group of burly men dressed uniformly. These men were escorting the barely conscious Andrew, each one exuding arrogance and swagger, perfectly matching Skyview's demeanor.
The two beautiful women behind Skyview were more reserved.
Suzanne maintained a cold image, vigilantly observing her surroundings.
Lily walked elegantly, resembling a Persian cat.
This group, led by Skyview, arrived in luxury cars, creating a grand entrance that immediately caught the attention of Skyler's henchmen.
Skyler had a history in the underworld and was involved in some illicit industries. Early on, in construction ventures, if one didn't have certain means, one wouldn't receive due payments. Meanwhile, Skyler had his own unique method of receiving payment. Skyler's methods prevented embezzlement of his construction funds, ensuring no unpaid wages for his workers, which attracted more laborers to work under him.
Gradually, Skyler transitioned from a subcontractor to the CEO of a real estate company, expanding smoothly and amassing a billion-dollar fortune to this day.
However, Skyler understood the need to distance himself from illegal activities in time to avoid legal problems. Six years ago, he decided to steer clear of such industries. Despite exiting the underworld, Skyler retained the former members of the underworld under his company's name, providing them with jobs and salaries. This was a way to win their loyalty!
Due to these methods, while Skyler might not have an abundance of money in the city, his influence was significant. He had strong ties with both the underworld and the police. Though not on par with conglomerates like Twin Group, ordinary individuals were no match for Skyler.
Skyler's former henchmen, many of whom were well-educated, now wore suits as his bodyguards. In the vast Everett Family Mansion, Skyler had stationed over a dozen bodyguards to ensure its security without any flaws.
When Skyler's bodyguards saw Skyview and his entourage approaching, they hesitated, unsure whether to intervene or not.
Intervene? This group arrived in grandeur, driving luxury cars, clearly wealthy and influential. It was not easy to stop them!
Not intervene? This group clearly didn't come with good intentions!
What to do?
The bodyguards were very hesitant.
Finally, the head bodyguard hesitated for a moment and stood in front of Skyview, politely asking, "Sir, may I ask who you are?"
"I am the Chairman of Twin Group and the Regional Manager of Lakeview Express, Skyview," Skyview said arrogantly. "You are not qualified to speak to me. I want to talk to Mr. Everett!"
"Alright, I will go inform him!" The head bodyguard was taken aback by Skyview's arrogance but understood that Skyview's identity was not to be trifled with. He went to inform Skyler.
Skyview did not intrude directly. Although his visit this time was not friendly, he had no intention of completely offending Skyler. Skyview understood that competition was essential in business and politics but without burning bridges. Reality was not a fantasy novel where one could casually resort to violence. In reality, conflicts required strategy, compromise, and the exchange of interests. As a graduate of Maplebrook Institute of Technology, Skyview was well-versed in these matters.
"Mr. Scott... you..." Skyler came out to greet Skyview shortly after, visibly stunned by the large crowd behind Skyview. He then smiled and said some polite words. "Welcome! I'm so happy to see you!"
Skyview chuckled, "You're joking, It's my honor to visit you. So, Mr. Everett, won't you invite me in for a sit?"
"Please!" Although uncomfortable, Skyler invited Skyview inside.
Once inside the mansion, Skyview lounged on a leather sofa.
A servant promptly served coffee, a premium coffee.
"I don't drink coffee," Skyview said, "Do you have any soda?"
Skyler, puzzled, asked, "What's soda?"
Skyview clarified, "A coke is fine."
"Get Mr. Scott a coke," Skyler instructed the servant.
The servant quickly brought a coke, and Skyview enjoyed it contentedly, crossing his legs and eyeing Skyler.
"Mr. Scott, with such a grand entourage, what brings you here?" Skyler, annoyed by Skyview's nonchalant attitude, asked knowingly.
Skyview smirked. "Why I'm here, Mr. Everett, you surely know in your heart. Why pretend you don't know it?"
"But is it for Jack?" Since Skyview had seen through him, Skyler couldn't feign ignorance and asked directly.
Skyview nodded. "Indeed, I'm here for Jack."
"Have you found evidence, Mr. Scott?" Skyler inquired.
"Concrete evidence!" Skyview declared.
With a wave of his hand, Skyview ordered his men, "Bring him here!"
The barely conscious Andrew was brought before Skyview and Skyler.
Looking at Andrew, Skyler asked, "Who is this?"
"This is Andrew, known as the elite thief, the main culprit behind the recent thefts at our Lakeview Express Company. Unfortunately, he was caught by us!" Skyview stated.
Having a background in the underworld, Skyler had heard of Andrew's reputation and couldn't help but be surprised. "Is he really Andrew?"
"Absolutely!" Skyview affirmed.
Skyler sighed, "I've heard that Andrew has never failed since he started his career. The title of elite thief is well-deserved. Yet, this time, he failed. Mr. Scott. It seems you have some capable subordinates under you!" Skyler glanced at the elite members surrounding Skyview, but it was Suzanne who puzzled him the most. This beautiful woman exuded a dangerous aura that made Skyler uneasy.
Skyview said softly, "Well, that's undeniable. While Andrew, as a renowned thief, couldn't have stolen our cheap deliveries without reason. There's someone behind him, and Andrew, it's time for you to speak up!"
