Chapter 272 Kaelen's Proposal

Kaelen glanced around the perfectly manicured yard, a hint of admiration in his eyes. "This place is stunning. The Davis family really knows how to make an impression. John is quite a capable person! As for persuading him, I'm only half confident.''

Next to him, Bridgette bit her lip, her voice tight with emotion. "We have to try. Thelonius can't die for nothing; Skyview has to pay for this."

Revenge was all she wanted now. She and Thelonius had always been close. Their bond had evolved as they grew up, but the love and loyalty never faded. When she heard he was killed, shot down at the Cascade Group hotel, it nearly broke her. But Bridgette wasn't one to fall apart. She wouldn't let grief paralyze her. She'd find strength in her mission, a mission now fueled by one burning desire: vengeance.

Her first thought was to hire a hitman, to give Skyview a taste of his own medicine. But Kaelen had warned against it.

"It's too risky. Skyview's already on high alert after the last attempt. Plus, he's got Blackwing Suzanne guarding him, one of the best out there. Taking him out won't be easy." Kaelen's voice was tinged with the bitterness of experience. "Besides, he's a billionaire. He's got the resources to make our lives hell. We can't fight fire with fire; he's one guy, we're a whole family."

His recent brush with death had been a harsh lesson. Taking down a billionaire wasn't as simple as taking out a rival. Money bought power, influence, and a kind of immunity. In a world driven by cash, a guy like Skyview could get anything he wanted, including revenge.

"So, we just let Thelonius's death go unpunished?" Bridgette's voice shook with barely contained rage. "He died for you, Kaelen!"

Pain flashed across Kaelen's face. "Thelonius was like a brother to me. His death got me really down as well. But if we're gonna avenge him, we need to be smart about it. Recklessness will only lead to more losses."

Bridgette, despite her grief, was practical at heart. She took a deep breath, forcing herself to think clearly. "What do you suggest we do then?"

"Skyview's power comes from his wealth," Kaelen said, his gaze distant. "To really hurt him, we need to strip him of it."

"You're saying we bankrupt him?" Bridgette's eyes widened. "But even if he wasted money, five billion dollars would last a lifetime."

"His wealth isn't all his to control," Kaelen countered. "He inherited it, but there are conditions, tests written into the agreement that even he might not know about. If he fails those tests, he might not lose everything, but he'd lose a big chunk of his fortune. I think his complete takeover of the Twin Group is the first of these tests."

"And you think we can make sure he fails?"

Kaelen nodded. "Exactly."

"That's gonna be tough."

"Which is why we need to talk to John," Kaelen said, his voice firm. "He's one of the original founders of the Twin Group, along with Dylan, and its second-largest shareholder. He's the key to our plan."

Bridgette didn't know the details of Kaelen's plan, but she trusted his judgment completely. If he thought this was the way to get justice for Thelonius, she'd follow him, no matter how rough the road ahead.

John watched as Kaelen approached, his wheelchair gliding silently across the polished floor.

"John, Hilda and I are classmates, your juniors," Kaelen said, flashing a charming smile. "Golden Valley tradition says I should offer you a formal greeting, but as you can see, I'm not quite up to it. Please forgive my lack of decorum."

"Don't worry about it, Kaelen. It's the 21st century; those old customs don't matter anymore." John gestured welcomingly. "You're one of Skyscape City's brightest stars. It's an honor to have you here. I've got coffee ready; please, come in."

They moved into the living room, Hilda trailing behind silently. He hadn't said a word to Kaelen, and Kaelen seemed to act like he wasn't even there, focusing all his attention on John. Hilda didn't mind being invisible, not today.

Once they were settled, John got straight to the point. "Kaelen, I'm guessing this visit isn't just a social call. You've got something specific in mind, right?"

Kaelen's smile widened, a hint of steel beneath it. "Yep, I do. I'm here with a proposal."
