Chapter 286 Compromise

The Twin Group board members weren't dumb. They knew keeping Lakeview Express was in the group's best interest. Kaelen had bribed a third of the board, but the rest were mostly level-headed. They usually stayed quiet and only made decisions when it really mattered.

It was the votes from these directors that let Skyview win by a hair—just one vote. This showed just how powerful Kaelen and the Davis family were. For a moment, Skyview felt a murderous rage toward Kaelen. Kaelen was like a ticking time bomb, just waiting for the right moment to blow up and take over the Twin Group.

"Kaelen, looks like I won by one vote," Skyview said, glaring at Kaelen with a slight smirk. "You think you can crush my dream? Not that easy!"

"That's easy." Kaelen laughed. "You think the voting's over? Nope, there's still one person who hasn't voted! Mason, cast your vote!"

Skyview and Hekka were both stunned! Mason was the third-largest shareholder of the Twin Group. And not long ago, Mason had just teamed up with Skyview. The voting was done by pressing a button, so it was completely anonymous. Skyview had no clue Mason hadn't voted yet.

With Kaelen's statement, Skyview and Hekka realized that Mason, the traitor, had sided with Kaelen. Skyview was so mad at Mason he could've killed him.

And the scariest part was that the alliance between the second-largest shareholder Kaelen and the third-largest shareholder Mason seriously threatened Skyview's position.

Mason slowly pressed the "yes" button. This made it Kaelen 43 votes vs. Skyview 42 votes. Kaelen won by one vote. "Mason!" Skyview said coldly, "You really surprised me in a bad way."

Mason met Skyview's gaze, his expression calm. "Mr. Scott," he said, "there are no permanent friends, only permanent interests. You should know that." Skyview scoffed, too annoyed to even bother with Mason.

Kaelen loudly said, "The Twin Group is a big business with its own rules. Even the chairman has to respect the outcome of a vote. The results are in, Skyview. Do you accept them?" He fixed Skyview with a challenging stare.

Skyview, looking sullen, said, "Since it's the board's decision, even as the chairman, I can't go against it. I can only compromise. Fine, I'll sell Lakeview Express, but I want to sell it at a reasonable price. If the price is too low, it won't be in the Twin Group's interest either! I'll call for another vote!"

"Erin is extremely rich! Money is not an issue!" Kaelen, thinking he had won, was full of joy. "I'll contact Erin right now, and the financial, legal, and business managers of the ApexTech Group have already arrived at Twin Group and are waiting outside. I'll bring them in now. Let's try to get this done today."

Skyview said coldly, "Kaelen, looks like you came ready for a fight."

Kaelen replied in a low voice, "Skyview, last time you got lucky and made me take a big hit. But your luck's run out. I'm serious now. I'm gonna show you that you're nothing compared to me, Kaelen."

Skyview smirked and said, "You're an idiot."

Kaelen shook his head and said, "You're just mad at your own failure."

Kaelen thought Skyview was fuming over the loss, but Skyview was actually thrilled. He genuinely wanted to sell Lakeview Express, and Kaelen's actions were only going to drive the price up. Kaelen thought he'd won, but he was actually playing right into Skyview's hands.

Moments later, the business manager, financial personnel, and lawyers from ApexTech Group showed up. It was clear Erin was serious about this negotiation. The conference room screen flickered to life, connecting them to Erin remotely. She was on a train, clearly eager to negotiate with Skyview during her business trip. She was really busy.

"Skyview, we meet again," Erin said with a warm smile. "You must have decided to sell Lakeview Express, right?"

Skyview, a master of theatrics, forced a bitter smile. "I have no choice," he said, pretending to be helpless. "I'm being forced! It's out of my hands!" He looked utterly miserable, a picture of unwilling resignation.

Erin, understanding the charade, smiled warmly. "Look on the bright side. Sometimes being forced can lead to the best decisions. I've been in similar situations, and I learned that life isn't always about the worst moments." Erin, a natural teacher with a gift for words, began to comfort Skyview.

"I have to accept it," Skyview said, his voice heavy with resignation. "But Lakeview Express is my dream. I can't sell it cheap. If I'm going to sell, it has to be for a good price. Otherwise, I'd rather keep it. Besides, I believe the Twin Group has what it takes to dominate the market!" He still looked reluctant.

"Name your price," Erin said, her voice calm and businesslike.

Skyview held up a single finger, his eyes fixed on Erin. "Ten billion dollars!"

Erin almost let out a curse but quickly recovered and laughed. "Skyview, that's way too high! For that price, ApexTech Group might as well just build our own!" She made her dissatisfaction clear.

Ten billion dollars was indeed too high. Even though Erin was very wealthy, she didn't want to waste that much money.

Kaelen turned to Skyview, his expression serious. "Skyview, remember, you're representing the Twin Group now. We need to be rational in business. Let's keep personal feelings out of it."
