Chapter 13: Conspiracy and Kidnapping
During his time at the Extraterrestrial Club, Jack discovered that Skyview was protecting Alice. After some inquiries, Jack learned that Skyview was Alice's ex-boyfriend, so he sought out Alice.
Jack, a regular customer of Alice at the Extraterrestrial Club, knew where Alice lived and easily found her. Alice also knew Jack's capabilities. While Skyview had the money and power to easily deal with Jack, Alice lacked that ability and had to act submissive in front of Jack.
From Alice, Jack learned that Skyview was actually a billionaire. This sparked the idea of kidnapping Skyview to extort money. However, kidnapping was a serious crime. Alice suggested first exploring the possibility of her reconciling with Skyview. If they could get back, Skyview would naturally become Alice's stable source of wealth, ensuring a steady flow of money.
Even if getting back together wasn't possible, they could try to get a breakup fee from Jack, which was a much safer option than kidnapping.
As expected, Skyview rejected all of Alice's requests, refusing to give her any money. Feeling humiliated by Skyview's rejection, Alice's anger grew.
"I've always said it's useless. When men have money, they turn bad. Now, you are nothing to him!" Jack sneered. "Let's do it my way. Find a reason to lure Skyview out, and we'll kidnap him directly! He's a billionaire, and we can extort billions from him. We'll be rich overnight!"
"Alright, let's kidnap Skyview!" Alice, now without any moral sense, said coldly. "I know him. I know his feelings for me won't die easily. I'll change my attitude, lure him out, and then we'll kidnap him! I'll even kill him!"
Watching the sinister side of Alice, Jack sighed, "Women can be quite vicious, indeed."
Meanwhile, without Jack's extortion, Lakeview Express saved a lot of money in terms of costs. Through Skyview's effective strategies, the arrogant Jack was dealt with, earning Jordan's respect.
Jordan, despite his cunning nature, acknowledged Skyview's leadership.
Skyview's primary objective was to save five billion, but he couldn't tolerate the contemptuous attitudes of the shareholders. Thus, Skyview was resolute in proving himself.
Men should have dignity!
To many, Skyview was just a lucky delivery man who stumbled upon immense wealth without the ability to lead the Twin Group forward.
Despite his outstanding performance at Maplebrook Institute of Technology, Skyview lacked opportunities for development, leading to his current situation.
However, the sudden wealth presented a new opportunity for Skyview.
Seizing this chance would lead Skyview to success!
With a three-year commitment in place, Skyview would give his best shot.
Even if he failed, Skyview wouldn't regret it.
"Competition in the courier industry is fierce, isn't it?" Skyview asked Jordan as he inspected the warehouse.
Jordan replied, "Not just fierce, it's extremely tough. Apart from well-known courier companies, various others emerge every year. Profits are already low in this industry, and with such competition, revenues are dwindling!"
"What do you think is the biggest issue?" Skyview inquired. While he had some ideas for Lakeview Express's operations, he wanted to hear Jordan's thoughts.
"The main problem is the low efficiency!" Jordan pondered. "Courier services rely on volume for profits! And low efficiency means fewer deliveries and less profit! Moreover, with profits decreasing, we can't afford to lower prices further!"
"Why do you think efficiency is low?" Skyview asked again.
Jordan thought for a moment and replied, "On one hand, there are too many individual customers living in various locations—some in bungalows, some in basements, some in high-rise buildings. Delivering to such diverse locations poses a challenge for the delivery men. Additionally, some customers may not be available when you deliver."
"In that case, perhaps we should consider renting some public land," Skyview already had a plan in mind.
"Rent public land?" Jordan couldn't quite follow Skyview's train of thought.
Skyview smiled faintly but didn't explain further to Jordan. It was a business secret that he wasn't willing to share with Jordan now, who hadn't earned his complete trust.
Suddenly, Skyview's phone rang.
Glancing at the caller's number, he saw it was Alice.
Initially unwilling to answer, Skyview eventually picked up the call after some deliberation.
He decided that if Alice asked for money again, he will block her. It was time to bury the past.
"Are you begging for money again?" Skyview asked.
"Skyview, I've realized my mistakes. I've wronged you in the past! Our relationship just wasn't meant to end. I don't want to be the villain in your eyes. It's not my fault for acting like a gold digger; it's society's fault," Alice said with a touch of sadness. "I'm not worthy of your love."
Skyview was surprised by her words and replied, "It's good that you've realized this."
Alice continued, "Skyview, these days, I've been reminiscing about our past. You truly loved me, but I failed to appreciate that love.
"I won't say I'll love you forever because God won't give me another chance. I'm just regretful of my past actions. I hurt you, and I want to say sorry," Alice's tone was sincere and heartfelt.
Skyview said, "Alright, I forgive you. From now on, let's not contact each other."
Alice pleaded, "Skyview, I still have some gifts you gave me. I want to return them to you in person and end our relationship. Cherry Blossom Park is where we first met. I hope you can come to the park. I'm waiting for you, okay?"
Skyview thought for a moment and asked, "What time?"
"Tonight at 8 o'clock, how does that sound?" Alice replied.
"I'll be there," Skyview said before ending the call.
With a bitter smile, Skyview continued to work, concealing his complicated emotions.
