Chapter 179 Make a Fool of Himself
Oliver glared at Hilda, whose arrogance fueled his anger.
Skyview commented nonchalantly, "The higher they rise, the harder they fall,
"Let Hilda have his moment of arrogance, his moment of conceit.
"It wouldn't last."
In his eyes, this time, Hilda was destined for a spectacular downfall, and Shark Live would crumble with him.
"That bastard!" Oliver spat, then turned to Skyview. "Can we proceed now?"
"Of course," Skyview replied, a chilling smile spreading across his face. "It's time he learned what real pain feels like."
With that, Skyview calmly retrieved his phone and made a call.
"Commence operation," he instructed.
Oliver, too, made a call, his voice low and menacing. "You can start now."
Their cryptic exchange did not escape Benjamin's notice. He couldn't help but feel a sense of foreboding.
However, his loyalty lay with Penguin Company's interests. Acquiring Shark Live for 800 million was the most beneficial course of action, and he had chosen accordingly. All his decisions were made for the company's gain.
Offending Skyview and Oliver was not ideal, but it wasn't a catastrophe either.
Skyview, as chairman of the Twin Group, wouldn't resort to violence, and Oliver, as Ken's son, wouldn't dare to retaliate directly against him.
No, the one person Benjamin truly feared offending was Adam.
And to avoid that, he had to prioritize Penguin Company's interests, which were, for the most part, aligned with Adam's own.
And, by extension, his own interests as well.
After all, Skyview and Oliver held significant positions within the Golden Valley business world.
But what truly mattered to Benjamin wasn't their current status but their potential. Their futures were undeniably bright, and it was unwise to make enemies of them.
"My apologies to both of you," Benjamin said to Skyview and Oliver. "Perhaps we'll have opportunities to collaborate in the future. However, this time, Penguin Company has chosen Shark Live."
"Choosing Shark Live is the smartest decision Penguin Company has made in the past five years," Hilda declared, his voice dripping with pride. He turned his gaze towards Skyview and Oliver, his tone laced with mockery. "As for certain losers who dare to compete with me, they're digging their own graves."
Skyview merely shrugged. "We understand Penguin Company's didn't choose us. However, choosing Shark Live might not be the wisest move." A knowing smirk played on his lips.
Hilda glared at him. "People like you are destined for mediocrity, Skyview. Competing with you is beneath me. Just keep admiring my success from afar." He then turned to Benjamin. "Let's sign the contract and not waste any more time on irrelevant distractions."
Hilda's disdain for Oliver and Skyview was palpable, which made Oliver's anger flare.
"Who are you calling irrelevant?" he growled.
"You, of course," Hilda replied with a mocking smile.
"You're asking for it!" Oliver snarled, his fists clenching. "I'll make you pay for this, Hilda."
"Empty threats from a sore loser," Hilda dismissed.
"Damn it!" Oliver fumed, turning to Skyview. "I can't stand this! How can you tolerate his arrogance?"
"Let him enjoy it while it lasts," Skyview said calmly.
"We have to retaliate," Oliver insisted. "He needs to be taught a lesson."
Hilda looked at them both with disgust. "Why are you still here? This is a contract signing between me and Penguin Company. You're not welcome."
He turned back to Benjamin.
Benjamin sighed inwardly, thinking, 'Hilda is truly a petty individual. However, I've made my choice, and I can't afford to offend Hilda now. I have to pick a side.'
"Oliver, Mr. Scott, I apologize," Benjamin said, choosing his words carefully. "However, this next part is a private matter between Penguin Company and Shark Live. It wouldn't be appropriate for outsiders to be present."
His words were polite, but the message was clear: he wanted Skyview and Oliver gone.
But they had no intention of leaving.
Skyview crossed his legs and fixed his gaze on Hilda, a cold smile playing on his lips.
Oliver mirrored Skyview's posture, his eyes locked on Hilda with chilling amusement.
Hilda felt a shiver run down his spine. An inexplicable sense of dread washed over him. "Why are you still here?" he demanded. "Didn't you understand what I just said?"
"What was that?" Skyview asked innocently.
"Get out!" Hilda roared.
Skyview turned to Benjamin. "Is that what you want, Benjamin?"
"Not exactly," Benjamin said, flustered. "It's just that I'm sure you both have busy schedules. There's no need to waste your time here."
"I meant what I said," Hilda interjected coldly. "Get out!"
"We're not leaving," Skyview stated, a hint of menace in his voice. "And do you know why, Benjamin?"
"Why?" Benjamin asked, bewildered.
"Because we want to see Hilda suffer," Skyview replied.
"It would be a shame to miss the show," Oliver added, his eyes gleaming with malicious anticipation.
