Chapter 8: Starting from the Grassroots

The atmosphere suddenly became tense, as if even the air had become heavy.
"Get lost!" Skyview said coldly.
Jack was shocked by the sudden rebuke, instantly sobering up.
He squinted at Skyview. Those who could come to the Alien Club were from wealthy families. Even though there were a few families richer than his, he was not someone anyone dared to offend.
In his view, Skyview was either from a noble family or a fool visiting the club for the first time. Only these two types of people would dare to shout at him, and tell him to get lost!
"Fine! You're tough!" After careful consideration, Jack gritted his teeth and released Alice.
'Once I know who you are, I will meet you again!'
Jack turned to leave.
"Take your trash out with you!" Skyview disdainfully said, stepping on the scattered money on the floor.
Jack glanced back and saw cash on the ground.
He had acted impulsively and thoughtlessly earlier, being under the influence of alcohol. Now, with a clearer mind, he bent down to pick up the money.
"Don't pretend to be rich when you're broke," Skyview sneered, walking away, with Alice following closely behind.
"Skyview!" Alice called out.
Skyview didn't stop, instead quickening his pace, leaving the club and Alice behind.
Thinking back on the two years they were together, Skyview felt disgusted. He couldn't believe he had genuinely cared for Alice!
"Skyview." Suddenly, a familiar voice sounded.
Skyview turned to see Willow on an electric bike, stopping by the Alien Club.
"You're here... at a club?" Willow hesitated, a strong look of disdain evident on her face. "I heard men really turn bad when they have money; that's not wrong, after all."
"Willow, I'm not that kind of person at all!" Skyview hurriedly approached, wanting to explain.
But Willow didn't listen, stopping him. "Skyview, you don't need to explain to me. I'm leaving."
Willow rode off on her electric bike.
In Willow's mind, she had already labeled Skyview as lecherous.
"Willow, I really didn't do anything!" Skyview said with a pained expression, wishing he could show Willow the surveillance footage to prove his innocence.
Lily, who was in the car, witnessed the scene and couldn't help but chuckle. After Willow left, she drove the car up to Skyview.
"Mr. Scott, Hekka just called, saying that your every move is under the board's surveillance. Hekka hopes you can go back to the company and learn how to do business as soon as possible," Lily said.
"I have three years to fulfill my commitment; why should I go back to the company now?" Skyview replied nonchalantly.
Lily explained, "The board has now split into three factions, with Skyler leading the opposition. Hekka is working tirelessly to stabilize the situation for you.
"If you don't strive for it, in three years, someone else will take the chairman position. If that happens, it would disappoint Hekka and Mr. Scott Senior's expectations of you, wouldn't it?"
Skyview fell silent. "Fine, then arrange it."
Actually, Skyview didn't care much about becoming chairman because, in his view, having Hekka as chairman was also acceptable.
The main thing was for Skyview to inherit the remaining four billion and nine hundred ninety-nine million!
That evening, concealing his identity, Skyview officially joined Lakeview Express as the regional manager for the Southern District, with Jordan becoming his subordinate.
With a background from Maplebrook Institute of Technology and experience as a courier, Skyview understood why Lakeview Express was growing slowly.
"Mr. Scott, I misunderstood before. If I offended you in any way, please forgive me," Jordan said, placing a cup of hot coffee on Skyview's desk, trying to please him.
Skyview smiled faintly, "I didn't take it to heart. After all, I'll need your help in the future."
"Mr. Scott, you are so generous and magnanimous. I truly admire you," Jordan thought to himself, relieved that he wouldn't be harassed by Skyview in the future.
"At the end of the month, should we have a chat, Mr. Scott?" a familiar voice came from outside the office.
Immediately after, Jack pushed the door open without hesitation, making himself at home, taking a seat as if it were his own place.
Jordan's expression changed, turning to look at Skyview.
Previously, Lakeview Express had to pay a big amount of money to Jack every month, or else they would face harassment from Jack and his associates.
Now, as the new regional manager from the Twin Group, Skyview would decide whether to continue or stop paying Jack money.
"It's you!" Jack turned his head, seeing the nameplate on Skyview's desk, reading, "Lakeview Express, Southern District Manager!"
'A mere regional manager dared to challenge me? You have no idea how formidable I am,' Jack thought.
Crossing his legs, Jack glanced at Jordan, then at Skyview, asking, "Who calls the shots here?"
'Oh no, Skyview has offended Jack. It seems this situation won't end well today,' Jack thought.
"This is our new regional manager, Skyview," Jordan immediately pointed the finger at Skyview.
Jack grinned, "Since we've met each other before, let's cut to the chase!"
"In the past, Lakeview Express needed to pay a protection fee of a hundred thousand each month. But given our 'good' relationship, it should be tripled. You owe me three hundred thousand!" Jack declared.
Three hundred thousand!
Jordan was shocked and quickly observed Skyview's reaction.
"What if I don't pay?" Skyview's response was unexpected.
Neither Jack nor Jordan had anticipated Skyview's question.
"If you don't pay, I'll make sure Lakeview Express can't operate in Swallowford City!" Jack asserted dominantly.
"Is that true?" Skyview's confidence rose, meeting Jack's gaze fearlessly.
Seeing the situation turning sour, Jordan hurriedly approached Skyview, whispering, "Mr. Scott, you can't easily provoke him. Jack is a prominent underground figure in Swallowford. He has over a thousand men under him. If you offend him, our courier service will break down.
"And Jack has a mysterious godfather, rumored to be a big shot in Swallowford City. In any case, it's best not to offend him. Stay on good terms with him!"
Upon hearing this, Skyview slammed the table in anger. "It's your cowardice that has allowed Jack to become increasingly arrogant. You willingly paid protection money for no reason! But I'm different!
"I want to make achievements at Lakeview Express, gain recognition from the board, and then inherit the remaining four billion and nine hundred ninety-nine million!" Skyview said loudly.
"Your name is Jack?" Skyview inquired.
"Yes," Jack looked at Skyview playfully, deliberately raising the price to make Skyview uncomfortable and restore the club's lost reputation.
"Three hundred thousand? You're out of your mind! If you want to fight, I'm willing to oblige!" Skyview said sternly.
