Chapter 283 Momentum

Kaelen and Skyview went way back, but calling them "acquaintances" was putting it lightly. They were old enemies, plain and simple.

Even though Skyview had beaten him before, Kaelen was no lightweight. He was a serious threat, someone Skyview couldn't just brush off.

Kaelen was from the Darkmoon family, one of the top four families in Skyscape City. He was a partner at ApexTech Group, the future Prime Minister of Skyscape City, and engaged to someone from the Link family in Golden Isle City.

This guy wore a lot of hats, each one showing just how important he was. Right now, Kaelen had a new title—the second-largest shareholder of the Twin Group. He was definitely someone who turned heads.

For a moment, everyone in the room was staring at him. Today, his usual charm was cranked up a notch, and he looked even more commanding. He was undeniably handsome, and even Skyview had to admit Kaelen was almost as good-looking as he was.

But Kaelen wasn't walking. He was still recovering and was in a wheelchair, pushed by Bridgette. Despite being in a wheelchair, his presence was even more intimidating. Sure, Skyview had given him some trouble before, but Kaelen shrugged it off. He figured it was because he hadn't taken Skyview seriously enough, hadn't been fully prepared. He didn't really get Skyview before, but those setbacks were just bumps in the road.

Now that he was serious, Skyview was just a small hurdle on his way to the top. Kaelen planned to step over Skyview's dead body, climb to the peak, and laugh at his old enemy. This time, Kaelen was ready.

The wheelchair rolled closer to Skyview. Kaelen waved his hand, and the wheelchair stopped. He looked Skyview straight in the eye, his gaze full of challenge.

"Well, well, well," Skyview chuckled. "I thought I was done with strong opponents in the Twin Group, but here you are! Welcome, Kaelen, and congrats on becoming our second-largest shareholder! As the largest shareholder and chairman, I'm thrilled to work with you!"

"Welcome, Mr. Darkmoon," the board members chimed in, their voices full of excitement.

"With Mr. Darkmoon on board, the Twin Group is bound to hit new heights!"

"Mr. Darkmoon is a young business genius. Having him as our second-largest shareholder is a huge win for us!" The board members were way more enthusiastic about Kaelen than they had been about Skyview.

To the board, Skyview was just some guy who got lucky and struck it rich out of nowhere—a rags-to-riches story they didn't think qualified him to lead the Twin Group. Even now, a lot of them still saw him that way.

Changing people's minds was one of the hardest things ever. No matter what a person achieved or how hard they worked, some folks just wouldn't give them the credit they deserved. They ignored their efforts, downplayed their successes, and focused on their flaws, completely undervaluing them. For people like that, the only way to win them over was with overwhelming strength.

However, their views on Kaelen were different. Kaelen came from one of the top four families in Skyscape City, a real prodigy. Even the Prime Minister saw him as a future leader. In the business world, Kaelen was already a big deal, with a reputation that commanded respect. The board members started sucking up to Kaelen, showering him with praise.

Skyview's face darkened. Kaelen was a pro at winning people over. Skyview couldn't believe how quickly the board members were switching sides. No way Kaelen hadn't greased their palms beforehand! This was a smart move, directly challenging Skyview within the same company—a head-to-head battle for control. Skyview was now on the back foot.

"Looks like Mr. Darkmoon is quite the hit with the board!" John said, grinning.

John thought his plan was genius. Helping Kaelen become the Twin Group's second-largest shareholder was paying off big time. His only worry was that Kaelen might overshadow him in the future. But he wasn't too concerned. As long as Skyview was out of the picture, there'd be plenty of the Twin Group pie to go around. Keeping Kaelen happy wouldn't be a problem.

Skyview shot back sarcastically, "Kaelen sure is charming. Not only does he have the board members eating out of his hand, but he's also popular with men in other places!"

"Skyview," Kaelen said calmly, "talking about people's private lives like that is pretty low. Spreading rumors is even worse."

Skyview rolled his eyes, looked around the room, and said, "So, this emergency meeting is just to show me you're now the second-largest shareholder and have the board on your side? Great. Have fun, guys. I'm busy. Gotta go home and play some games. If there's nothing else, I'm outta here. Hekka, let's roll!"

Skyview wasn't in the mood to appreciate Kaelen's show-off. It was clear Kaelen had come prepared, and Skyview had no interest in playing along. He was in a hurry to leave, not to play games—he wasn't really into gaming anyway.
