Chapter 282 Changing Personnel
The board meeting was in full swing in the Twin Group's conference room. The company was running like a dream. Every department and subsidiary was doing alright, even the ones losing money were within acceptable limits. The group was thriving, and Skyview, the so-called chairman, was a bit of a slacker who didn't really dig board meetings. So, it had been a while since the last one.
But the chairman wasn't the only one who could call a meeting. If at least a third of the directors agreed, or if the second-largest shareholder proposed it, a meeting could happen. But when it did, both Skyview and Hekka, the acting chairman, had to be in the loop.
When Skyview and Hekka walked in, almost all the directors were already there. Most of them looked pretty serious and were dead silent, which made the whole vibe kinda creepy. Usually, board meetings weren't this tense.
Skyview and Hekka exchanged looks, both sensing something was off. They took their seats. "Alright, what's the deal with this emergency meeting? What's going on?" Hekka asked, breaking the silence. "Is something wrong with the Twin Group?"
No one answered. Everyone seemed a bit out of it. Hekka frowned.
"If no one has anything to say, I'm calling this meeting off," Skyview said, clearly annoyed. "I'm super busy and about to play some games. I don't have time for this." He was frustrated, seeing that the directors seemed to be plotting something but were now playing dumb.
"Actually, there is something," John finally spoke up, locking eyes with Skyview. They stared each other down for a moment. "I'm the one who called this emergency meeting. I wouldn't have done it if it wasn't important."
Skyview responded with a shrug. "So what's the big deal that made you call this emergency meeting?"
John smirked. "Everyone here basically knows about it, but you two, Skyview and Hekka, are so out of the loop you're clueless." He threw some shade at Skyview and Hekka for being out of touch.
Skyview couldn't be bothered to argue with John. Petty squabbles were a waste of time. "If you don't speak now, I'm outta here!" Skyview said coldly. "Just come out with it and stop pretending."
Skyview had zero respect for John at this point. The tension between them was at an all-time high, and they didn't care about keeping up appearances anymore.
John looked at Skyview calmly and said, "Since you put it that way, Mr. Scott, I'll get straight to the point. I've sold all my shares in Twin Group. So, even though I'm still the Vice President, I'm no longer the second-largest shareholder. That spot has changed hands!"
John's face lit up with a wide grin as he spoke, keeping his eyes locked on Hekka and Skyview, trying to catch every flicker of their reactions.
Skyview and Hekka exchanged surprised glances. They never thought John would sell his shares.
John valued his shares in the Twin Group more than anything. Those 7% shares were the bedrock for John and even the Davis family to survive in Golden Isle City. Now that he'd sold them, changing the second-largest shareholder in the company, the implications were huge and worth pondering.
"John, did you really sell your shares?" Hekka asked, eyeing him suspiciously.
"Of course," John replied, his smile turning a bit mischievous. "I just want to kick back now. Let someone else handle all this high-pressure stuff! From now on, I'm semi-retired!"
"John, who did you sell your shares to?" Skyview asked coldly. "We need to know who the new second-largest shareholder of the Twin Group is."
Skyview knew John hated him. If John sold his shares and replaced himself with someone else as the second-largest shareholder, there had to be some scheme. At the very least, this new shareholder would have bad intentions! Knowing the conflict between John and himself, this person still bought John's shares, which likely meant they were determined to oppose him!
Skyview felt a headache coming on. He hated internal strife, but some people just didn't get it. They didn't realize he was a good chairman who could work harmoniously with anyone. Instead, they insisted on fighting tooth and nail with him over petty interests.
"John, who is our new shareholder?" Hekka also asked.
The change of the second-largest shareholder was a big deal for the Twin Group. Hekka was eager to know who the new player was. It was crucial. If the new shareholder decided to oppose Hekka and Skyview, it would be a major problem. Skyview had worked hard to keep the Davis family in check. Now, if an even stronger person emerged, it would create a real issue.
Hekka also admired John's boldness. He'd given up a lot! Trading those 7% shares for someone to take his place, and this person was definitely no ordinary player.
John was just about to introduce the new second-largest shareholder when a voice cut him off. "No need for introductions. I know Skyview very well. Skyview, whether you like it or not, we're going to be competing in the same company now! Let's see who comes out on top!"
Hearing this voice, Skyview's eyes widened as he stared at the door. Sure enough, a very familiar figure walked in. It was Kaelen!
