Chapter 126
The woman's aggressive and condescending demeanor did not sit well with me.
"Ms. White, this is my classmate, John, in..."
"We are colleagues!" I chimed in and reached out my hand.
Naturally, I couldn't disclose the name of the company I represented. Such high-value deals were prone to leakage.
If Skyliho's people find out I'm flying solo, it's going to be a mess.
The company strictly forbids flying solo; being caught results in immediate termination without any room for negotiation.
"Oh? Colleagues?"
Ms. White was a bit surprised. "Which department are you from?"
"The marketing department," I replied.
"Management?"
"Exactly!" I nodded, thinking to myself, 'Even though it's a deputy position, it's still a supervisor!'
Just then, Tony was surprised. "John, are you boasting? You're more than just a regular marketer..."
Before he could finish his sentence, he stopped himself as he realized he was belittling me.
In that moment, Ms. White, who had just extended her hand, withdrew it. "Young man, it's best to be practical.”
Damn, that's too realistic!
Feeling a bit embarrassed, I noticed Tony scratching his head; this kid was so outspoken in college, and he's still the same now in workplace.
"Hehe, just got promoted these days."
I tried to explain it, but Ms. White didn't believe me at all. She then turned to Tony and said, "Tony, we're going upstairs first. You hurry up and don't waste time on idle people.”
Damn, she's practically cursing me to my face.
Tony's face didn't look good either; he awkwardly smiled. "Okay, I'll be up in a moment."
"Okay." Ms. White nodded and led a group of people away, swaying their hips.
"John, Ms. White is like this, don't argue with her."
Ms. White?
I looked at him with a half-smile, "Has Ms. White exploited you a lot?"
He scratched his head. "Let's not talk about this. Come on, where should we sit?"
At the nearby cafe, I ordered two lattes. "Not to offend you, but you're really not considerate enough."
"Don't be angry. I know your life isn't easy ," Tony said. "Am I the kind of person who tricks his friends?"
He said that, and I really couldn't argue; after all, my life was really tight before, and he wasn't wrong.
I smiled helplessly, changed the subject, and saw his badge, "TT Media."
"Which department are you in?" I asked.
"I only joined the marketing department two months ago, so it doesn't feel like a permanent position for me," he expressed. "The constant back-and-forth demands are pushing me to the brink of madness; I haven't been able to secure any deals successfully yet. If this continues, I may consider quietly returning to my hometown.."
I patted his shoulder and comforted him, "I was the same before; you'll get used to it."
I passed him a cigarette. Since this cafe is located in a commercial building where smoking is allowed and many people come here for business meetings, it felt awkward to enjoy coffee without smoking.
Is having a high profile more important than making money?
I asked, "If life is hard; why don't you come to me?"
He chuckled, "In this state, what would I come to you for? I have no face! I don't even want to go to the class reunion next month."
"Some people are still living off their parents; why not go?"
I exhaled smoke slowly. "Don't you want to see your Violet?"
"Come on. She's beautiful and comes from a good family. I heard her family arranged for her to enter the municipal uni. What do I have to pursue her?" He said somewhat dejectedly. "Let's forget it; She and I are from two different worlds."
"Don’t say that, where there's a will, there's a way!" With a chuckle, I quipped, "Why don’t you have a try? You have nothing to lose anyway."
"Go away. I just want to become permanent now, and I want to strive based on my own abilities."
Seeing Tony's resolute expression, I couldn't help but feel a wave of emotion. If I hadn't encountered so many wealthy women before, I might have shared the same belief as you.
"If you want to become permanent, that's simple. I can help you."
"You?"
He looked me up and down. "Don't joke, do you have a deal to give me?"
In reality, there are not many secrets in the Sevan business district, particularly when it comes to competition among peers; everyone's strategies are well-known. Most individuals did not operate independently, which is why Ms. White made the comment she did earlier.
"What if there is?"
"What do you mean 'what if'? Either there is or there isn't."
He scoffed, "Don't tease me, but if there really is, I'll treat you to a meal, even if it's just a deal worth a few thousand dollars.”
"A deal worth a few thousand dollars? You're underestimating me. Even Skyliho doesn't entertain deals less than ten thousand," I remarked. "There may not be deals worth a few thousand, but there is a ten million dollar deal on the table. Are you interested?"
"What? A ten million deal?"
Tony stood up, his face filled with excitement, but it quickly faded. "Damn, you still enjoy teasing people like this. Are you really offering me a ten million deal? Do you realize how much commission that is? Let me tell you, nobody in our company has ever closed a deal of that magnitude!”
Upon hearing this, I realized it was precisely what I had been seeking.
"Just say if you want it or not!" I said with a light smile.
"Damn, are you serious?"
"Why would I tease you for no reason?" I extinguished the cigarette butt. "If you don't want it, I'll offer it to someone else."
"Wow, do you really have a multimillion-dollar deal?" He suddenly became excited, his eyes gleaming with hopeful anticipation. .
"I wouldn't joke about something like this, but if you want it, I have a request."
Seeing my serious expression, he partially believed me. While I enjoy joking around, I never joke about serious issues.
"As long as you give me the deal, even if you want to sleep with me, I'm willing!" Tony replied.
