I asked, "What's the name?"
Connie replied, "Visionary Media Group!"
"Wait, what?!" I was floored. "Are you serious? You invested in Visionary Media Group?"
Connie looked at me, wide-eyed. "Why are you so shocked? Do you know the owner or something?"
I gave a half-smile. "Yeah, you could say that. I own forty-nine percent of the company."
"What?" Connie was just as stunned. "So I ended up investing in your company? Why didn't you tell me sooner?"
"How was I supposed to know you'd invest in Visionary Media Group?" I shrugged. Katherine had just handed over the shares to me the day before yesterday, and I barely knew anything about the company. I couldn't exactly show the share agreement to Jenny.
Connie smirked. "So, in the end, you still got me to invest, huh?" She grabbed my chin and said in a sultry voice, "Now I'm your investor, and it's gonna be even harder for you to escape from my grasp."
I kept caressing her. "I never said I wanted to escape."
She let out a soft moan, her body going limp. "John, stop it, give me a break."
I flipped over and looked down at her. "You're leaving tomorrow, so tonight I've got to show you my enthusiasm."
"It's already too much, I can't take it anymore," She pleaded softly, but I started having sex with her again. Later, she began to curse, "You jerk. In my next life, I want to be a man and make you feel what I feel!"
I got cocky. "I don't know if I'll be a man or a woman in the next life, but this life is already set in stone!"
"John, if you have the guts, don't stop tonight. I'll be impressed!"
"John, I won't dare to come back again if you keep this up!"
The next day, I got up super early. Last night, I had thoroughly worn Connie out, and she even cried and begged for mercy. She was really exhausted. After I washed up and got dressed, she was still sound asleep. I left her a note and went downstairs.
Ava had been waiting in the car downstairs for a while. I said, "Let's go, to my parents' place."
At the hotel, Piper and Eryx, and the couple Cara and Samuel were ready to leave. I tried to convince them to stay, "You don't come here often, why not stay a few more days and enjoy yourselves?"
"No, this hotel is so expensive, it hurts just to stay one night.. Staying a few days could buy a house outright," Eryx said. "I'd rather go back early to save you from spending money recklessly."
Cara and Samuel nodded in agreement. I said, "A few hundred thousand dollars is just a small amount; I can earn it back quickly."
Eryx walked over and patted my shoulder. "Now you have money, but you should also remember the times when you didn't. We're old and can't keep up with your pace. Now that we know you're doing well in Sevan City, Piper and I are relieved. Sevan City is great, but it's not as comfortable as our hometown."
"Eryx is right," Cara said. "It's because of you that I got to stay in a hotel I never dreamed of and bought so much prestigious goods. But we don't fancy that. These pricey clothes and shoes aren't meant for the fields, are they?"
I nodded. They had spent their whole lives in the countryside and weren't used to city life. Or rather, they preferred the leisurely life in the countryside.
I didn't push them to stay. As they were leaving, I handed Eryx a card. "There's a million dollars on this. Use it to rebuild the house back home. Don't bother buying a place in the county; my company plans to sell land and build houses in Joyville County. I'll set aside two houses for Aurora and Cillian. If you don't want to rebuild the old house, use the money for yourselves. Don't skimp on anything. Take Mom on a trip; you both deserve to enjoy life after all the hard work."
Eryx nodded. "Alright!"
Piper came over. "When Lucy has time, bring her home, okay?"
"Okay!" I nodded.
Watching them leave, I promised myself that I must succeed to protect this simple happiness and ensure Piper and Eryx spend their remaining years in peace.
"You guys can head back now," I said to Aurora and Daniel.
As soon as I got back to the company, Marry walked over, looking surprised. "We've settled things with Betsy!"
"So quickly?" I was thrilled but also surprised. Betsy had such skills; we had lunch yesterday, and by this morning, it was settled.
"Alright, I'll let our company's representative explain the details to you."
I looked at the capable girl beside Marry. She was Marry's assistant and had represented the company at the Sevan City Rental Association meeting.
"Mr. Cena, here's what happened..." She explained everything in great detail, even recounting the conversations during the meeting.
Even though I wasn't there, I could feel the tension through her words. Luckily, we were well-prepared. The plan that crushed Stellar Media Network was the key! Well done!
"All employees in the new media department will have their bonuses doubled this month, and those who participated in the plan will have their bonuses tripled!" This was my victory, and theirs too.
When the news reached the new media department, I could hear their cheers from my office!
"The relevant person in charge of the city bus company also called today to inform us that the cooperation can proceed as normal." I hugged Marry and gave her a heavy kiss on the lips. "You're the biggest hero."
"Helping you is helping myself," she said with a smile.
I clenched my fist and said, "Now let's see who dares to oppose me! Fight back, hit them hard!"
"Don't forget, there's still Skyliho Group!"
I frowned. "Don't worry about Skyliho Group; they won't last long."
Marry asked, "Do you know some inside information?"
I pinched her chin and smiled. "Don't forget, I'm now the acting vice president of Skyliho Group!"
I didn't delve further into that topic and instead asked, "How's Ms. Evangeline doing?"
"The money is being spent quickly. In just three days, she's used thirty million dollars!"
I thought, 'So, ten million dollars a day? That rate is shocking.' Then I asked, "And the results?"
"Acquired five logistics companies, added eighteen delivery trucks, and incurred a debt of fifteen million dollars! But we've opened up transportation routes in four states. Even if shipping from Sevan City to Greenvale City, it will only take thirty-six hours at the fastest. Including manual delivery, it will definitely be delivered within forty-eight hours!"
I said, "That's too slow; it must be delivered within twenty-four hours! Otherwise, what's the point of spending so much money and effort on logistics?"
Although we didn't have planes or passenger transport, we could rent several warehouses at key locations as transfer stations.
