Chapter 26
Her fingers traced a gentle path along my cheek, the other hand tentatively exploring my waistband...
"What are you trying to do?" I questioned, my voice steady.
Catching her wandering hand, I halted her further advances. "If you have something to communicate, use your words. There's no need for physicality."
"John, do you find me attractive?" she asked, her voice barely a whisper.
Her breath, sweet and intoxicating, washed over my face.
'This woman,' I thought, 'she knows the art of seduction all too well.'
"There's no one else here, don't fret. I promise to make this comfortable for you..."
I pushed her away gently, my gaze critically assessing her. "Mia, this isn't right."
Her lips formed a small pout, her eyes reflecting a sense of hurt. "I know my reputation isn't the best, but I'm not what you accused me of being. I'm not the woman who spends three nights with a client. Those are all false allegations."
"I admit, I've employed some questionable tactics, but I swear, I've never shared a bed with anyone!"
I regarded her with an unwavering gaze. If she hadn't been with anyone, then what was she attempting just now?
Was she trying to gauge my physical development?
I observed her theatrics in silence, my phone discreetly recording the entire encounter.
She leaned into me once more. "John, you're attracted to me, aren't you? I remember when you first joined the company, you couldn't take your eyes off me. I'm a woman, after all. Those repugnant men only desire my body. If I accompany a client, they're bound to get inappropriate, so I've shifted my focus to colleagues."
"So, you're implying you're being coerced into this?" I asked, a hint of laughter in my voice. If this had been earlier, I might have entertained her advances, but now, I found it repulsive!
"Tell me, what do you truly want from me? A position as a project assistant, or are you aiming to snatch my orders?"
A six-million-dollar project, undoubtedly the company's most significant single project in recent years. If she could secure the role of project assistant, even without a bonus, she'd certainly receive an excellent rating at the year-end evaluations. Naturally, this would lead to a more substantial year-end bonus.
The critical factor was the additional benefits. Jenny mentioned a net profit of forty percent, and I was sure that was calculated after deducting these benefits.
Mia's face registered a moment of surprise, but it vanished quickly. She leaned in, her voice a soft whisper in my ear, "Just being a project assistant is enough. If you agree, I'll be your personal assistant from now on! No one can interfere."
"Fine, I have no objections, but whether Jenny and Lily agree, I can't say."
Having Mia as a project assistant wasn't an impossible idea. For the project assistant role, Lily would undoubtedly want to install her own confidante, making it easier for me to be framed.
"So, you're agreeing?" Mia's face brightened with surprise. "As long as you give the go-ahead, I'll handle the rest!"
I offered a small smile. "Can you guarantee you'll obey me?"
"I can!" she declared, her lips brushing my cheek. "If you don't trust me, you can give me orders now, anything goes."
'This woman,' I thought, 'she has no shame, her hands daring to venture into my pants...'
In that moment, my worries evaporated. The video on my phone was evidence enough. If Mia decided to stir up trouble, it would spell disaster for both of us, and she was too cunning to risk that.
But to degrade herself for a mere project assistant position?
This woman undoubtedly had more intricate plans. I needed to remain vigilant.
I grasped her chin, a smirk playing on my lips. "Then bark for me, remember, like a little dog!"
She shot me a seductive glance, her lower lip caught between her teeth. "Can I purr like a cat instead?"
"No, bark like a little dog!" I commanded, giving her a playful slap on her behind. She let out a surprised yelp, her mouth slightly agape, her gaze enticing!
"Didn't you promise to obey my orders, no matter what they were? Are you refusing the first request?"
I watched her, my expression a mix of amusement and challenge.
