Chapter 255
The top members of the fifth group left one by one, and I knew I wouldn't be contributing there anymore.
A thought crossed my mind: 'If things go south, I'll take Lily with me!" The project and finance departments still need people. I'll make her a project director when the time comes; it's a perfect fit.'
"This client is the main distributor of DH Distillery in Silvercrest. They're pretty loaded. I've been negotiating with him for almost half a month, and he's eager to cooperate. He should invest two to three million dollars!"
Two to three million for promotion is a lot.
With Skyliho Group's channels to cut costs, a 40% pure profit is easy, and a commission of fifty to sixty thousand dollars for one deal is like an average person's annual salary.
"That's quite a generous budget," I said.
"This project is yours," Lily said.
"Mine?" I was surprised.
"Yes, it's yours." Lily blushed. "I don't like owing favors!"
I held her hand. "We're together, no need to worry."
"No, so you won't hold it over me later..." she muttered.
"Really petty," I said.
"In a relationship, there should be complete equality. Otherwise, I always feel like I owe you something," she said.
I touched her nose. "Alright, do as you wish."
Soon, we arrived at Silvercrest. Sevan City, a second-tier city, has ten districts and six county towns.
Silvercrest was the most economically developed of the six county towns, and there had been rumors of changes here in the past two years. The subway had extended to this area, so change was inevitable.
Following the route, we arrived at the bustling South City Commercial District of Silvercrest.
It was as prosperous as the downtown area.
DrySouth Spirits was our destination.
The storefront is grand, and as soon as we got out of the car, the owner, Nathan, greeted us warmly.
"Welcome!"
Lily reached out her hand, but he went straight for a hug.
I frowned, and my good impression of him vanished.
Lily tried to push him away, but Nathan held her tightly, his hands on her back, gently caressing. "Lily, I've been waiting for you!"
"Nathan, hello!" I stepped in to rescue Lily. When Nathan saw my displeasure, he let go. "Lily, I told you to come alone!"
Come alone?
I finally understood why Lily wanted me to come with her. He had bad intentions!
This kind of thing is common in marketing, especially for big projects.
It often involves a hint of seduction.
It's not just women who face this; some strong and handsome male colleagues have too.
For example, Paul accompanied a female client once, and then he became the top seller of the fifth group that month.
Later, he said he had no strength in his legs after getting out of bed.
"This is the deputy supervisor of our company, also my right-hand man, very strong in professional ability," Lily said, staying calm and distancing herself from him.
Nathan glanced at me impatiently, not even extending his hand. "Alright, come in."
The store had many wines, mostly from DH Distillery, with only a few other types.
I glanced around; there was quite a lot of inventory for the summer.
"Mr. Brooks, do you have more group purchases in the summer?" I asked.
But he ignored my question and said to Lily, "I brought some good coffee from Pinevale last time. You'll definitely like it."
"Really? Then I'll have a treat later," Lily said.
Upstairs, the office was quite grand.
The coffee set was a high-end item worth tens of thousands of dollars.
From the start, he seemed to dislike me. When he poured coffee, he let it overflow, as if telling me to get lost.
But I didn't budge. I sat aside, didn't touch the coffee, and just smiled, listening to their conversation.
He frowned and said, "I poured you coffee, and you're not drinking it. What does that mean? Do you look down on me?"
Provocation?
I smiled, "Mr. Brooks, you're joking. How could I look down on you? The coffee's just too hot. It's better to let it cool for a better taste."
"If you don't drink it, then you must be looking down on me," he said.
His face turned cold. "Lily, your deputy supervisor is quite pretentious. If that's the case, there's no need to discuss further."
Lily got anxious. "John, didn't you hear what Mr. Brooks said? Drink the coffee quickly!"
I glanced at her, then at Nathan. He looked smug, like he was playing a childish game.
I didn't say anything, gently poured a quarter of the coffee, blew on it, and drank it in one gulp. "Satisfied now?"
"Satisfied? Satisfied my foot!" Nathan snorted. "Do you think I didn't see it? Why did you pour the coffee? Are you expressing your dissatisfaction with me?"
I said, "Nathan, you misunderstood. The coffee cup was hot, my hand shook for a moment. Please don't be angry."
Lily chimed in, "Nathan, he didn't do it on purpose. Don't stoop to his level."
"Alright, since Lily has spoken, let's forget about it."
Nathan said, "Since you don't like my coffee, then don't drink it."
He used tweezers to turn the coffee cup in front of him upside down.
I was instantly furious. He was really pushing it too far!
Just then, Lily pulled my hand. I took a deep breath, suppressing my anger.
'Forget it, marketing is about seeking investment from others. Money is hard to earn; this is an eternal truth. Being treated unfairly is normal.'
"Mr. Brooks, we've communicated on the phone for a long time, and you're very satisfied with our services at Skyliho Group. As for this cooperation..."
Nathan interrupted, "I'm not satisfied with Skyliho Group; I'm satisfied with you."
He shamelessly looked Lily up and down. "There are many companies in Sevan City better than Skyliho Group. You should understand this."
Lily smiled, "It's my honor to gain your trust."
"Cooperation is not a problem, but the key is, why should I cooperate with you?" Nathan smiled. "I can't just cooperate with you because you're pretty, right? To be honest, in the past few days, at least eight out of ten salesmen have come to me, but I haven't agreed to any of them. Do you know why?"
"Why?" Lily asked.
"Because they don't have what I want!" Nathan said.
"Do I have what Nathan wants?" Lily asked.
"Yes! You indeed have what I want!" Nathan's eyes were full of wickedness. "If you want to get something, you must give. It's relative. I don't know if you agree with my words."
This pervert. Clearly, he wanted to have sex with Lily!
But Lily seemed not to have realized it yet. "Indeed, success is not simple; it is achieved through countless efforts."
"You said it well. It seems you already understand what I mean," Nathan smirked. "Alright, you let him go out first, and we'll talk about the specific details of cooperation."
He was being ambiguous, and Lily didn't think in that direction for a while. "Why do you want him to leave when discussing cooperation?"
"I think he's annoying." Nathan frowned at me, as if saying, "Kid, you better get out of here!"
"John, why don't you go out first and come back in after I finish talking?" Lily said.
