Chapter 30
A thought struck me, a fleeting fantasy. If I could ever win her affection, I would make a point to capture her voice. It was a melody that could set a man's heart aflame.
Her attire, a professional ensemble of a skirt and trousers, was made of a slick material. As I attempted to assist her, she kept slipping from my grasp, which was exasperating. "You need to help yourself up," I grumbled, "I can't do this alone."
She remained silent, but after each slide, she would make an effort to ascend. This continuous cycle was testing my patience.
Especially when she moved upwards, I would lend a hand, almost reaching our shared goal.
Over time, I noticed a shift in her voice, from cries of pain to sounds of pleasure!
My heart pounded in my chest, and my hands began to wander, kneading as I asked, "Does your back feel any better?"
"Mm!"
She remained silent.
The temperature in the confined space of the elevator began to rise, and my throat felt increasingly dry.
My rationality was on the brink of being lost when suddenly, a voice echoed from outside, "Is anyone in there?"
The unexpected interruption shattered the charged atmosphere. Lily froze, and I hastily withdrew my hand, "Yes, we're in here, please help us!"
In such a situation, I couldn't let her speak. I needed to maintain a positive image in her mind.
"Stay put, I'm activating the backup power."
After a brief pause, the lights in the elevator flickered back to life, the sudden brightness momentarily blinding me.
Instantly, Lily moved away from my thigh, and a wave of numbness washed over my leg; I collapsed onto the floor.
Maintaining the same position for so long had taken its toll.
Seeing me on the floor, Lily gasped, "What's wrong with you?"
"Lily, my legs are numb!"
I managed a smile, "Don't worry, I'll be fine in a moment!"
Her face was flushed, her eyes glazed, but her expression was conflicted, as if she was debating whether to help me up.
In moments like these, it was best to remain silent. Whether male or female, everyone possessed a protective instinct!
I wanted her to feel indebted to me; only with a sense of debt could I proceed with my plan.
Once the numbness subsided, I stood up and called out, "What's taking so long?"
"Just a bit more time, it'll be ready soon!"
I didn't rush them.
I also subtly distanced myself from Lily. She frowned slightly, then relaxed, "Remember, I don't want anyone else to know about what happened, understand?"
"Mm, it's our secret!"
I grinned, intentionally using the word 'secret.'
This would help bridge the gap between us. From now on, whenever Lily took the elevator, she would be reminded of our shared experience, gradually deepening the impression in her heart.
If you threw a frog into boiling water, it would struggle to escape. But what if you started with lukewarm water?
By the time the water boiled, it would be too late for the frog.
To win over Lily, I had to employ the same strategy, slowly altering and reversing the image she had of me.
Her face flushed, "What secret, don't talk nonsense."
I just smiled and said nothing.
A few minutes later, the elevator door creaked open, but it was suspended awkwardly in mid-air, over a meter from the ground.
Lily, dressed in her professional attire and high heels, would find it challenging to descend.
I quickly stepped forward and suggested, "Lily, let me go down first to catch you!"
"Mm!"
Lily nodded, reverting to her usual composed demeanor.
I jumped down and then removed my work jacket, offering it to her. She seemed taken aback at first, but quickly grasped my intention.
Accepting my jacket, she used it to cover her thighs, much to the disappointment of the nearby elevator technician.
"Lily, you should take off your high heels. It will be easier to get down that way."
