Chapter 298
"I'm done washing!"
She knelt on the blanket, her face slightly red. I grinned and leaned on her chest. "Can we continue what we didn't finish in the car just now?"
Mya shoved my head and feigned annoyance.
Her pretty face blushed, and her eyes filled with seductiveness. I couldn't resist any longer! I kissed her directly on the lips.
Her fragrance and sweetness, like the richest wine, I kept savoring the sweetness. No wonder she was a dance major; her body was just too attractive. The smooth, tender, elastic skin and the collagen-rich, pretty face all made my heart race.
My fingertips roamed on her milky smooth skin; she softly whimpered; that sound was like a spark falling into a gasoline tank; I felt like I was about to explode.
After a bit of teasing, a thought flickered in my mind.
What if Scarlett suddenly came back?
I suddenly snapped back to reality. I didn't dare continue; just getting a taste was enough.
Mya got dressed, pointing at the kiss marks. "Look at what you've done. What if my mom sees them?"
I wickedly smiled. "Your mom will just realize you have grown up."
She looked at me disdainfully and cursed. "Pervert!"
I lazily lay on the cushion, and she snuggled up beside me, chin resting on her hands. "My break is coming up soon," she murmured. "We'll have plenty of time then."
I glanced at her. "Don't forget, work keeps me pretty busy. I can't promise to free up every single day for you." It wasn't that I was trying to shirk responsibility; I genuinely didn't have the time.
She hummed in acknowledgment. "Okay, but you have to make time for me every week!"
I considered it for a moment. "Alright, no problem."
Her smile finally returned. "And you still owe me a date, remember? Just the two of us!"
"I do, but that'll have to wait until after your break."
Just as we were getting comfortable, the sound of the front door opening reached us, followed by Scarlett's voice. "Mya, do we have company?"
My blood ran cold. "Didn't you say your mom wouldn't be back so soon?" I hissed.
Panic flashed across Mya's face. "I'm not sure what's going on!"
Footsteps approached, stopping just outside the room. "Mya, are you in there?"
I scrambled under the bed just as the door opened and Scarlett walked in. "What's wrong, honey? Why is your face so red?"
"I, uh, just got back. It's so hot outside!" Mya stammered.
"Whose shoes are those by the door?"
"John's!"
"John's here? Where is he?" Scarlett sounded almost pleased.
"He's in the bathroom."
"Alright then."
Scarlett added quickly, "Aren't you at the Cyber Academy? How did you run into John?"
"He happened to be there doing some summer recruitment, so we bumped into each other. He just gave me a ride home." Mya replied.
I breathed a sigh of relief. That was a good save; it sounded believable.
"Okay, I'm going to change in my room." With that, Scarlett entered the master bedroom and closed the door.
I quickly emerged from under the bed and stealthily made my way out of the room. I could hear the rustle of fabric coming from the master bedroom and couldn't help but picture Scarlett changing. Suppressing the heat that flared within me, I checked the time and then opened the bathroom door, clearing my throat. "Mya, is Mrs. Foster back?"
"Yes, Mom's changing in her room," Mya replied, giving me a playful, knowing look. It was adorable.
Soon, Scarlett emerged, wearing a summery off-the-shoulder floral dress. Her hair was swept up in a loose bun, and light makeup accentuated her features.
Scarlett possessed an aura that Mya couldn't yet match, the undeniable allure of a mature woman. The combination was intoxicating, her very fragrance enough to make my heart race.
"John, it's been a while!" she greeted me with a warm smile.
"It has, Mrs. Foster. You're looking even more beautiful than I remember," I said, meaning every word.
Scarlett's smile widened, clearly pleased by the compliment. "By the way, John, I have to rush back to the academy for a meeting, so I won't be able to keep you company. Mya will entertain you, and please, stay for dinner!"
"Mrs. Foster, I have some things to take care of at the company later. How about I treat you and Mya to dinner another time?"
Scarlett wasn't one for pretenses. "Alright," she said, slipping on her shoes. "I'll be off then. Mya, be a good hostess to John!"
The door closed behind her, and both Mya and I let out relieved sighs.
Checking the time, I saw it was already four in the afternoon. I spent a little more time with Mya before taking my leave of the Foster residence.
Back at my rented apartment, I freshened up and changed clothes, making sure there wasn't a trace of a woman's perfume clinging to me before hailing a taxi to Walker Company.
"You little rascal! Where have you been hiding?" Marry exclaimed, launching herself at me as soon as I reached the entrance. She had become much more openly affectionate, especially after her family found out about our relationship. Edward already treated me like a future brother-in-law.
She pulled me into a kiss. "Come on, let's go to my office!"
"Don't you want to say hi to your brother first?"
"Is he more interesting than me?" she retorted playfully.
I was rendered speechless. She definitely was.
Once we were in her office, another passionate kiss ensued. At this rate, my lips were going to be seriously chapped. Not that I was complaining, exactly.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, and Edward walked in. "Oh, sorry, carry on!" he said with a smirk.
As he turned to leave, I quickly pushed Marry away. "Edward, it's not what it looks like!"
Edward stopped in his tracks, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "Really? Because it looks a lot like something."
Marry, still perched on my lap, wrapped her arms around my neck and raised an eyebrow at me. I swallowed nervously. "It's just a figure of speech!"
"How long has it been since you've graced us with your presence?" Edward asked, his tone teasing.
I scratched my head awkwardly. "Things have been hectic at the company."
"Right, well, get ready. We're going home!"
Returning to the Walker residence this time felt even more nerve-wracking than the first. Before, it had been a friendly visit; now, it felt like meeting the in-laws.
As I pushed open the door, their parents greeted us at the entrance. "Hello, Mr. Walker." I said.
"Come in, come in! Why all the gifts?"
"John, remember to take care of yourself. Don't let work consume you," Declan said, his tone kind.
"You're absolutely right. I'll make sure to find a better balance."
Chatting with him, I could tell he genuinely liked me. He looked at me like a father-in-law would look at his future son-in-law.
That night, over dinner, I found myself drinking a little more than usual.
After the meal, I couldn't help but ask, "Mr. Walker, do you happen to know Vincent?"
Declan set down his coffee cup. "Are you referring to Vincent, the head of the Investment Corporation?"
I nodded. Vincent was Joseph's father, and if I wanted to take down Joseph, I needed to find a different angle.
"I do. We've had a few dealings over the years."
"What's he like?"
Declan considered for a moment. "He's a shrewd businessman, very capable, and well-respected. Why do you ask? Are you hoping for an introduction?"
I hesitated for a moment before nodding.
Declan paused, a thoughtful expression on his face. "While I can certainly make the introduction, I wouldn't advise getting too deeply involved with him at the moment."
I frowned, confused. "Mr. Walker, what do you mean?"
"There are rumors of a leadership shakeup in Sevan City. Vincent is over fifty; if he doesn't secure a promotion soon, he'll be forced into retirement. However, the situation is complicated. Just this month, he managed to secure a massive foreign investment, claiming it will bring three hundred billion dollars into the city. It's by far the biggest investment attraction Sevan City has seen all year."
