Chapter 68

Lily frowned. "Explain what? How did John get this order? Everyone saw what happened. Don't tell me you weren't in the company that day!"

Brandon said, "Lily, I did see it, but the fact remains he intercepted it."

"Do I need to explain to you how I work? Mind your own business, and also, watch your status."

Deep down, Lily was a very proud person. Now, being questioned in front of so many people—it could be said that Brandon must have lost his mind.

"Brandon, what's your problem with me? This has nothing to do with Lily."

I turned around and firmly shielded her behind me. How could I miss such a good opportunity?

Brandon's face twisted in frustration. "Anyway, I just can't accept it. Even though I'm just an ordinary employee, what's the point if everyone is poaching orders from each other? We could just sit back and wait for colleagues to place orders every day."

His words struck a chord with some colleagues in the marketing department. One of them chimed in, "Exactly, the clients we worked so hard to find, are they just going to be taken away?"

"This is really unethical," another one added.

With the growing support, Brandon became more emboldened. "You're just a waste. Everyone in the company knows that, right? Poaching orders and feeling superior, huh? You're just trash, a person with a corrupt character!"

He continued, "Everyone, be careful, stay away from people like him. He might sneakily take away your clients without you even realizing."

As the words fell, I noticed one of the colleagues from the marketing department quickly close his phone, looking at me warily, saying, "Why are you eavesdropping on my conversations with clients? Are you trying to steal my clients?"

Before I could speak, Brandon interjected again, "Look, this scum is so audacious in poaching orders, daring to do such despicable things in front of everyone!"

I laughed in anger. Provocations and insults repeatedly, even with a good temper, I couldn't bear it anymore.

"You said I'm poaching orders. What would you say if I were to secure a big deal?"

Brandon smirked coldly, "Just you? Secure a big deal, how big of a deal?"

"A multimillion-dollar deal!" I replied.

Brandon burst into laughter, joined by others around him.

"Oh, this is hilarious. A poaching scum thinks he's the sales champion."

"He probably believes his own hype."

"Let's not rush to laugh. Are you willing to bet?" I asked.

"What's there not to dare."

Brandon looked at me disdainfully, "If you can really close deals worth tens of millions without any help, I'll kneel down and admit you're amazing!"

"Alright, you said it!"

"What if you don't secure the deal?" He asked.

"What do you suggest?"

"If you don't secure the deal, publicly kneel down and apologize, admitting you're trash!" Brandon said.

"Deal!" I nodded.

"But there's a condition to this bet. You must close the deal within a week. Otherwise, I'll consider you've lost!"

"Brandon, you've gone too far. John's project is still ongoing, so how could he possibly develop new clients in such a short time?" Grace was anxious.

"Grace, I'm not betting with you. Why are you in such a hurry?"

Brandon sneered, "John, do you dare to accept?"

"John, don't agree. He's setting you up," Grace said.

No matter how Grace teased me before, at least now she's on my side.

"Fine, I accept," I said.

Just as I finished speaking, the elevator stopped.

Brandon gave a sinister smile, and a group of people stepped out of the elevator.

Grace said, "John, why are you so reckless? Brandon is clearly provoking you!"

"Don't you trust me?" I asked.

"It's not about trust. It's about it being simply impossible!"

Grace looked annoyed and said, "I'm a project assistant now. We rise and fall together."

I was a bit taken aback. Grace becoming a project assistant was impressive!

At this moment, Lily stepped forward and harshly reprimanded, "Are you out of your mind? Why did you agree to the bet? It's clearly a trap!"

"Is it so easy to secure a multimillion-dollar deal? If you lose, it's not just your face that's lost, but mine too!"

With that, the woman left angrily.

Back in the office, Brandon started spreading the word about the bet.

Many people couldn't help but sneer.

"John, you're really showing off too much."

A man with short hair and an honest appearance said to me.

His name was Paul, and his personality and appearance were completely different. This guy had a lot of tricks up his sleeve, but he was okay with me, never badmouthing me behind my back.

We joined the company at the same time, and our relationship was decent. If there weren't anyone to talk to in the company, life would be too dull.

When I was punished for cleaning the toilets before, he was on a business trip. He must have just returned today.

"How's your project going?" I asked casually.

"Not great, just so-so. Barely managed to get half of the final payment, the other half, who knows when it'll come."

Marketing can be troublesome. Sometimes, you have to chase after the final payments, and if they can't pay, there are fines.

"But you did well. While I was away, you caused quite a stir in the company."

He lowered his voice, saying, "Even snatching Philip's deal, well done. I've had my eye on that guy for a while."

"Get out of here. It's not snatching. This deal wouldn't have happened without me."

I said that, but deep down, I knew it was just luck. So, I urgently needed a deal to prove my true abilities.

"Can't I admit when I'm wrong?"

He raised an eyebrow and asked, "I heard you and Grace are getting along well. So, does she have some skills? Got any pics?"

"Come on, she was just made a project assistant. What are you getting at?"

I do have the photos, but I prefer to keep them to myself. I'm not one to show off; making money quietly is the way to go.

"Sooner or later, you'll share."

He patted my shoulder and sighed, "I might be able to help you with other things, but this bet, I'm powerless. You shouldn't have boasted so much."

'Boasting? If I can make it happen, it's not boasting.'

I thought to myself.

Just then, Jenny walked out of the office, her voice cold, "Listen up, everyone. Mr. Foster is coming down to inspect the marketing department today. Show your best spirits, and if anyone falters at a critical moment, don't blame me for turning my back on you."

"Yes!"

Everyone responded in unison. This woman's expression wasn't good. Who had ticked her off so early in the morning?

Or maybe she's on her period!

At that moment, Linda walked in from outside, followed by an assistant, looking very dignified!

She stood on the platform, holding a microphone to speak.

Everyone listened quietly, but at that moment, a loud phone ringtone sounded, breaking the silence abruptly!

And interrupting her speech.

Damn, I forgot to put my phone on silent.
