"John, how dare you!"
Nicole was furious. "You're insulting your leader. I'm firing you right now."
"Call Zack, and bring the surveillance footage from that day. Dare you?"
I smiled instead of getting angry. "Even if you want to fire me, you need solid evidence, and reporting requires real evidence. Otherwise, you're just settling personal scores. What qualifications do you have to be a deputy director?"

Nicole's face turned red, and I continued, "Go get someone to retrieve the surveillance footage. Otherwise, if you want to make a fuss about this, then do it completely. I turned to Philip. "You maliciously took photos, defamed and attacked me, causing significant damage to my personal reputation. I will file a lawsuit, so I hope you'd find a good lawyer!"
I looked at him coldly. He was such a scumbag. If I didn't ruin him directly, he would keep causing trouble to me. It was very disgusting.
Philip panicked. "John, stop slandering me!"

Grace covered her mouth and chuckled.

Lily breathed a sigh of relief and gave me a subtle glance.
At this point, Jenny spoke up, "Alright. Everyone, quiet."
"Ms. Cooper, this matter is undoubtedly a misunderstanding, orchestrated by some malicious individuals aiming to sow discord and tarnish the company's reputation. While your enforcement of rules is commendable, it is crucial to thoroughly investigate the truth next time to avoid fostering discord among colleagues."
Jenny, exuding her authority as the Executive Director, effortlessly silenced Nicole with a mere few words.
"But how can he openly defy me like that?"
Jenny cast a sidelong glance at her and turned to me, saying, "John, I must reprimand you. Even if you are not at fault, you should not defy authority. Therefore, I propose a deduction of three days' basic pay as a lesson. Will you to accept this?"
"Yes!"
I hastily replied, thinking to myself, 'Who cares? I have already received twenty thousand dollars.'

It wouldn't kill me if I apologized to Nicole.
Besides, it was evident that Jenny was on my side, so I must do as she said.

"Good!" Paul exclaimed, clapping vigorously, joined by Grace and Lily, their applause filling the room.

Nicole's face turned dark with anger.
"Alright. Everyone, silence!

First, Jenny expressed her warning and then asserted her authority as the head of the marketing department. Whoever dared to act out of line, then she wouldn't show mercy.

Nicole's first day in office not only didn't start well but also made herself a laughingstock.
She was hurting herself by her own doing. No one would take her seriously in the future.

With a ten-million-dollar project in hand, I thought even a fool wouldn't dare to trouble me. But Nicole, still reeling from the last incident, insisted on targeting me.
Jenny walked to the door. "John, come in."

I nodded as that was indeed true. The workplace was like a battlefield.

"Are you really going to sue Philip?"
"Yes."
"You better not."
