Chapter 401

After dropping Edward off at the hotel, I rushed back to the office.

Marlow went to Sevan City with Lauren for training this morning.

Now, it was just Calliope at the office.

Even though we hired folks from the media industry, knocking out an $800 million order was still gonna take a while.

"Call a management meeting right now," I told the receptionist.

Soon enough, Calliope and the management team were in the conference room. I checked my watch. "The meeting starts in five minutes, and I expect you all to be here within three minutes."

"Yes, Mr. Cena!" Calliope responded quickly.

"Right now, we've got fewer than fifty employees. It's unrealistic to handle all these orders. To keep our customers happy, I'm gonna send half of these orders to Sevan City."

Calliope looked surprised but kept quiet, which was good. I hate being interrupted.

"Calliope, what do you think?"

She nodded. "It's a necessary move. We need the parent company's resources to get this done. But don't worry, Mr. Cena, I'll catch up with the headquarters quickly."

"Don't give me fluff. Set a goal."

Calliope thought for a moment before saying, "One month: ten online channels, ten offline channels, ten advertising partners, one million followers on our channels, and a reach of over four million people."

I nodded, thinking, 'Greenvale City has over twenty million people, so four million isn't much. With the Sevan City headquarters and the ten million dollars I've set aside for development, if they can't grow with that, Calliope might as well quit.'

"HR needs to speed up too. We need to hire at least a hundred people."

The HR manager stood up. "Yes, Mr. Cena!"

"Alright, you can all get back to work. Wait, hold on!"

They sat back down, looking at me. "In future meetings, cut the useless chatter. I don't like it. If I catch it, I'll deal with it right away. That goes for everyone!"

New companies needed rules from the get-go.

I'd stick around until the Greenvale City branch was running smoothly.

After a busy day of coordinating work, Marry called, super excited, "John, you're amazing!"

I laughed. "This is nothing. There's more to come. By the way, how's VelocityMart doing?"

Marry said, "The one-month trial in Sevan City went great. We did surveys at the universities there and got awesome reviews and high expectations. Right now, daily revenue is steady at around five million dollars, with about five million users."

Sevan City has a population of about fourteen million, so a third have downloaded the VelocityMart app.

"What's the profit?"

"After labor and costs, the profit is about a quarter."

I thought, 'Second-hand luxury goods are definitely profitable. With five million dollars in daily revenue, that's 150 million a month. Even if we average it to 120 million, a quarter of that is still over 30 million in profit.'

Marry added, "But we're burning through money fast, mainly on hiring staff, warehouses, and trucks. Your plan is similar to other big companies, so it needs a lot of cash."

"No problem, use it for now. Make the numbers look good, and then we'll seek funding. This industry has a lot of potential. Also, I plan to turn the WY Media Company project into WY Media Company Real Estate. Help Lauren pick a piece of land; we'll start small."

"Aren't you rushing it? Funds are tight."

"Don't sweat it. These projects will cover both the real estate and VelocityMart."

"Alright, I'll follow your lead."

After chatting with Marry for a bit, I hung up.

I thought for a moment and called Lucy. She sounded surprised, "What's up?"

"Nothing, just miss you."

"I miss you too," Lucy said softly.

"Got enough money?"

"I haven't even spent the million you gave me last time."

"Don't be too frugal. Make sure to spend, and don't deprive yourself."

"I know. I'm running between three stores every day, so I don't have much time to spend money," Lucy said. "I just feel empty without you in Sevan City."

"I'll be back in Sevan City once the Greenvale branch is stable." I continued, "By the way, how's the task I gave you coming along?" I thought, 'Dance Fusion Hall and the modeling class are crucial. They can incubate the entertainment industry, which has great potential now.'

"I talked to Ruby, and she's on board!"

"Great. Which city are you heading to next?"

"Moonstone City!"

I thought, 'Moonstone City? It's a lot like Sevan City. The economy there is booming.'

"Alright, it's up to you."

After hanging up, I felt good, like my business plans were slowly coming together.

But there were still two big issues in Sevan City that needed fixing.

I hoped to sort them out when I got back.

Time flew by, and three days later, Marlow returned from training in Sevan City.

"Mr. Cena, the headquarters is amazing!" Marlow couldn't stop gushing as soon as he walked in.

I asked, "What's so amazing about the headquarters?"

He scratched his head. "The company is in so many industries, and each one is killing it. It's incredible. Every project is profitable."

"Alright, save the compliments. Calliope is heading to Sevan City for training. It's time to show me what you've got. Three days have already passed, and you don't have much time left."

Marlow looked a bit anxious. "Don't worry, Mr. Cena. I won't let you down."

Watching Marlow's back, I thought about who to transfer from Sevan City to supervise.

I must keep a tight grip on finance.

While I was pondering how to solve this problem, Abigail called, "John, are you free today?"

"I'm busy, no time for lunch." I refused without thinking.

"I made a bento. You don't have to come over; I'll bring it to you, okay?"

I felt helpless and thought, 'Does she have to be so humble? She's from The Kingsley Family.'

But I needed to cut off unnecessary contact with her, "It's too far. The food will be cold by the time you get here. Let's forget it."

"It won't be. I have it in a lunch box. It won't get cold, don't worry."

I frowned. "Alright, come over then."

After hanging up, I thought, 'This is a good opportunity. I'll say the food is terrible and tell her not to come again. She'll be very sad and disappointed in me. Yes, that's the plan! I'm so clever!'

Twenty minutes later, Abigail arrived.

She walked over, slightly out of breath, her face flushed and sweaty, "John, I made some Sevan City specialty dishes. Try them!"

I opened the box, and sure enough, it was filled with Sevan City specialties.

The colors were vibrant, and the aroma wafted out as soon as I opened the box, making it look delicious.

What surprised me even more was that I found it hard to resist.

Abigail said, "Here are your utensils."
