Chapter 270

I was floored to hear even Luke was getting punished.

Piecing together everything I knew, I came up with a bold theory.

Joseph's thing with Linda was probably a setup to frame me and Katherine, with Alex pulling the strings!

Only he had the power to control everything like that.

Plus, as VP, if Luke stepped down, Alex would have the best shot at taking over.

That obvious loophole? Totally intentional!

But I had no proof, just a hunch, and digging into it would just make things awkward.

When the boss got mad, Luke got punished even quicker.

Such deep schemes, such ruthless tactics!

But they didn't count on me having Patrick and Charles backing me up!

Otherwise, I'd be in serious trouble.

"This isn't over, and I'm not letting the mastermind off the hook," Patrick said coldly. "Messing with my buddy and trying to drag me down? They're asking for it!"

Charles nodded, "Exactly. Once the wine tasting event is over, none of them will get away."

George chimed in, "Especially those security guards, they need to be punished."

I said, "George, leave the security guards to me. I want to handle them personally."

Now that I was a multimillionaire, they probably didn't realize the consequences of messing with me.

Joseph, Linda, just wait! We would settle this score.

The wine tasting competition went on as usual. Everyone ignored the earlier drama to protect Sevan City's image.

By 5 PM, out of over 500 wine brands, they picked ten gold, fifty silver, and a hundred bronze awards.

Sevan City beer did great, even snagging a gold award!

DH Distillery got a silver, which was expected given the tough competition.

Eternal Life Wine also got a silver, so everyone was happy!

With official recognition, Sevan City beer was on its way to fame.

At 6 PM, all the brand reps gathered at Whispering Pines Manor, the swankiest place in Sevan City. The owner, the richest person in town, had been abroad for years, so the manor was rented out for high-end events.

Whispering Pines Manor was stunning, with a two-acre fountain at the entrance, a flying goddess statue in the middle, and a palace-like building.

Soft music, cool breeze, lush grass, everyone in suits and gowns, looking sharp.

The award-winning brand reps were the stars, especially the gold winners. I kept a low profile, not wanting the spotlight.

Even though I was a major shareholder of Sevan City beer!

Standing next to Patrick, and thanks to his help, lots of people came over to chat with me. This event really boosted my Facebook contacts, with the worst being multimillionaires.

But my mind wasn't on the event; I was scanning the crowd for Katherine.

I was worried. Steven wasn't a good guy, and I had no idea how he'd treat her.

"Sorry, I need to use the restroom," I said.

Before I got there, someone approached me, blowing cigar smoke in my face. "Today was just an appetizer; hope you can handle the main course!" It was Joseph.

I knew this jerk wouldn't let things slide; he's too vengeful.

"I was wrong last time," I said.

Joseph smirked, "Too late to admit mistakes now; opposing me has serious consequences."

I shook my head, smiling. "I just regret not hitting you harder that day, you scoundrel."

Joseph's eyes narrowed, a cold glint in them. "Want a beating? Don't think that woman can protect you; I can crush you like an ant."

"Then come at me, I'm ready!" I walked right up to him, bumping his shoulder hard enough to make him stumble and drop his cigar.

"I'll make you kneel and lick my shoes!" Joseph yelled behind me.

When two paths meet, the brave prevail. Apologizing wouldn't save me; Joseph would just humiliate me more.

In the restroom, I was surprised to find Steven there.

He looked pained but quickly composed himself when he saw me.

It seemed like he had some physical issues, struggling like a clogged drain.

I felt awkward, unsure if I should greet him.

After some thought, I said, "Mr. Walton, today's incident was a misunderstanding. Ms. Wilson approached me just to discuss work."

Steven squinted, his face calm and unreadable. "I know," he said.

"Then I can rest assured," I replied.

After using the restroom, Steven spoke again, "I didn't expect someone as capable as you in my company. Your relationship with Patrick and Charles must be good."

What did he mean? I couldn't quite grasp his intentions. "It was a chance encounter, and we hit it off. Slowly, we became familiar."

"You're wasted as a driver. Become my assistant instead!" he said.

What?

I was genuinely shocked!

"Mr. Walton, I lack knowledge and experience; I can't help you," I replied.

He shook, then sighed comfortably. Adjusting his pants, he walked over and patted my shoulder. "Whether you're capable isn't for you to decide; I decide, and you have no choice!"

I was stunned. "Mr. Walton, what do you mean by that?"

Steven asked, "Do you know why Joseph is only causing trouble for you until now?"

I nodded, "Ms. Wilson and Mr. Foster helped me a lot."

"You understand somewhat," Steven smiled faintly. "But without my consent, they wouldn't dare to help you."

I looked at him in surprise, realizing he might have known about today's incident all along!

Behind those golden-rimmed glasses were deep, inscrutable eyes.

"Thank you, Mr. Walton!" I quickly expressed my gratitude.

"Since you're an employee of Skyliho Group. As the boss, I have an obligation to protect you, but the condition is, I need your loyalty!" Steven said.
