Chapter 20 What Do These Two Women Want
I cast my gaze downward, noticing a few stray papers scattered on the floor. I was at a loss as to when they had fallen
There was nothing there just now!
"John, could you spread your legs a bit? I can't quite reach," she requested.
Looking down at her, the sight was nothing short of captivating. Her lips were slightly parted, one hand steadying herself on my left leg while the other stretched beneath me to retrieve the papers. Her body was pressed against my leg, an intimate proximity that was hard to ignore.
In response, I unconsciously spread my legs wider, giving her the space she needed.
She flashed a smile, lowering her head even further and deliberately brushing her face against my leg.
Damn it! I exploded inside.
It was simply too sensual.
"Are you done?" I managed to ask, my voice strained. I was frantically snapping photos, a desperate attempt to document the moment. "It wouldn't do for others to misconstrue the situation."
"Isn't it natural for colleagues to help each other out?" she retorted. "If they misconstrue, it shows they have dirty minds. After all, we are innocent, aren't we?"
Her gaze was vacant as she looked up at me, her naturally unfocused eyes taking on a puzzled expression that was incredibly seductive.
"Of course we're innocent, but others may not see it that way," I replied.
Upon hearing this, she scoffed, "You still don't trust me!"
She swiftly gathered the papers from the floor and slapped them onto my desk. "Next time, keep your documents secure. Losing important papers could spell disaster."
Her eyes twinkled as she spoke. Just then, Philip approached, his expression stormy and his timing impeccable.
"By the way, if you're still skeptical of my innocence, meet me on the rooftop at noon. I'll prove it to you," she whispered, her voice barely audible. She was gone from my workstation before I could even process her words.
Philip confronted her, his tone accusatory, "What were you two just doing?"
Mia barely lifted her eyelids as she responded, "Didn't you see? I was helping him tidy his workstation."
Philip was visibly frustrated, "Does tidying a workstation necessitate such closeness? Does it require squatting down? Don't forget, you promised me, I..."
Mia shot him a fierce glare, "Don't impose your filthy thoughts onto me. And what gives you the right to dictate my actions? We're merely colleagues!"
Philip's eyes widened in shock at her retort.
I smirked inwardly. It seemed there was some clandestine understanding between Mia and Philip.
Glancing at the photos on my phone, my blood ran hot. Regardless of anything else, this woman's flirtation was undeniably potent.
"Ding!"
My phone chimed, interrupting my thoughts. It was a message from Mia.
Mia: [Don't forget, okay? (shy emoji)]
I set the phone down and stretched, inadvertently bumping into something.
Turning around, I found Lily standing behind me, my hand having brushed against her...
This wasn't my fault, really. Who stands silently behind someone?
"Lily, I'm sorry!" I hastily apologized, anticipating the trouble she might cause. It was best to maintain a low profile until I was prepared to handle any potential conflict.
Lily's face was tinged with a blush as she coldly instructed, "Come with me, Jenny wants to see you," before turning on her heel and leaving.
What could she possibly want at this hour? It must be about the project.
I sighed inwardly, pondering the intentions of these two women.
As I followed Lily, I noticed the anticipatory expressions on the faces of our colleagues, eagerly awaiting the unfolding drama.
