Chapter 337
After the folks from Liberty Capital Group bounced, we headed to the other side. "Mr. Harrison, it's been a blast working with you!"
Mr. Harrison stood up, grinning, and said, "The pleasure's all mine!"
Then came the boring part—drafting the contract. The total investment was a whopping $1.03 billion, with the cash rolling in two months. Three days after signing, half a billion would hit the account!
Once the ink was dry, word spread like wildfire that Sevan City Brewery snagged financing from Crafted Ales Collective. The first round of $5.4 billion funding sent shockwaves through the venture capital scene.
Sevan City Brewery was suddenly the talk of the town again.
It felt like everyone could see this new brewery rising to greatness!
Then I got a call from Edward and the gang!
"John, you're a legend. You actually threw down on Sevan City Brewery!"
"I wasn't sure about it at first," I admitted. "What if it had tanked?"
"A $5.4 billion valuation in the first round? That's nuts. I've been grinding for years, and my company's just over a billion. You, on the other hand, blew past me."
"I'm just a small fry." I was stoked, but hey, gotta stay humble.
"How much did you rake in?"
"Let's just say it's a little shy of $200 million!"
"You're killing it."
"Enough talk about business," I said, my voice laced with a triumphant grin. "This calls for a celebration. Drinks are on me!"
"You got it!" Edward chuckled. "This round's on you."
George called too, "John, congrats!"
"Congrats to you too!" I replied.
"I knew you'd make it, but not this fast!"
All this praise from the big shots felt pretty damn good...
Charles chimed in, "Congrats, John. When are you coming to my winery? Got two pairs of twins here, you'll love 'em!"
I was like, seriously? One set was more than enough to handle.
And there was Brian, "Congrats!"
I got seven or eight calls, my face was starting to hurt from smiling.
I thought, 'Should I tell Rita and the crew about this, let them in on the fun?'
The funds were supposed to land in three days, but the day after Mr. Harrison got back, the first chunk arrived. Patrick handed me $10 million. Seeing those numbers, I was pumped.
Just like that, I was a billionaire.
First call? Marry. Edward already knew, so I had to loop her in.
"Where you at?" I asked.
"At WY Media Company, why?"
"My company?"
She liked hanging out at WY Media when she had free time. Edward always griped about her helping me out before they even tied the knot.
"Cool, I'll come to you!"
In the car, Ava said, "Congrats, Mr. Cena!"
Ava was getting more stunning by the day. "When it's just us, call me John!"
"Alright, John!" She blushed, looking all happy.
I ran my hand over her smooth thigh, feeling pretty damn good.
I thought, 'I should call Mia over for some fun. It's been a while since our last winery visit. They're twins, can't play favorites.'
'The twins are awesome, and I'm getting more hooked on them. Gotta keep them close and happy.'
We rolled up to WY Media Company.
In the office, Marry was buried in reports.
"Busy?"
"You're back."
She smiled. "Just wrapping up!"
I shut the door. It'd been a few days, and I missed her. I scooped her up, and she said, "Why the rush?"
"I missed you!" I inhaled her scent greedily.
"That tickles!"
I went in for a kiss, then kept sipping on her lips.
After a bit, she gasped, "I can barely breathe!"
"I've got some killer news for you. Wanna hear it?"
"What’s the scoop?" She looked at me all curious.
"From today, you’re dating a billionaire."
"A billionaire?"
Her eyes lit up. "What’s the deal? You must’ve landed a big project."
I shook my head, grinning, and filled her in on the Sevan City Brewery. She was floored, "You’re a shareholder in Sevan City Brewery?"
"Yup!"
"That’s awesome, I knew you’d make it."
She jumped up, more hyped than I was.
"Now you’ve got WY Media Company and Sevan City Brewery. Keep grinding, and you’ll outdo my brother."
I was stoked too, "Just watch, I’m gonna rake in even more cash!"
She wrapped her arms around my neck. "Mr. Billionaire, I’ve got a favor to ask!"
"Do we really need to call it a 'favor'?" I gave her a playful smack on the butt.
Marry said, "I wanna work at WY Media Company!"
Work here?
"Your brother’s probably not gonna be cool with that."
"What’s there to disagree about? It’s just a matter of time before I’m on your team."
I thought about it, 'I did say stuff like that in front of her folks. To them, I’m the future son-in-law.'
'But, the company’s got a lot of people, and if Mia and the others catch wind of our thing, it could get messy.'
"Okay, but what would you do here?"
In the media company, there’s Holly, in new media there’s Mia, in Ruyi Cosmetics there’s Rita and Ms. Martinez, in Dance Fusion Hall there’s Lucy, in BlueSky Innovations there’s Lauren, and in LuxeLore there’s Aria.
"Can’t you make me your assistant?"
"An assistant?"
I gulped, "What kind of assistant? Personal or work?"
"Is there a difference?" She gave me a cheeky grin. I felt a shiver, 'Why does she wanna be my assistant instead of a VP? She must be onto something.'
"Of course, there’s a difference."
I said, "But I’ve got Ava with me when I travel, and Mia helps out at the office. I really don’t know what job to give you if you come."
"Then can you make me the group vice president?"
Group vice president?
"You’ve got some guts!"
I lightly tapped her nose and thought, 'There’s a big difference between a VP and a group VP. Like, Holly and the others are just VPs of subsidiaries, but a group VP has way more clout.'
"What, you don’t wanna?"
"How could I not? If you want, you could be the chairman." Sometimes, you gotta be generous.
Marry looked pleased. "I’m not that greedy. Let me be a VP. That way, you can chill at Skyliho Group."
I thought, 'Yeah, with Marry as VP, I’d be way more relaxed. Most importantly, Scarlett’s words made me cautious. What if Steven starts digging into me too?'
'With business info being so transparent now, it’s easy to find out.'
'As WY Media Company grows, it’ll eventually catch Steven’s eye. Can’t avoid it, but the later, the better. First, I need to get Katherine out of the mess. Luckily, she and Jenny have quietly started Visionary Media Group.'
"Alright, let’s do it. You’ll be the VP, and publicly, you’ll be announced as the chairman of the company!" I said decisively.
That's perfect, I thought. With Marry as the public face of the company, any investigation would lead back to the Walker family. No one would suspect my involvement.
"But, we can’t let the company know about us."
Marry snorted, "Worried your other girls will find out?"
I broke into a cold sweat. "What other girls? You’re overthinking it!"
She snorted, "Don’t think I don’t know. I just don’t care. You’re just like my brother!"
