Chapter 207

"I will forge ahead and never forget my original intentions," I said earnestly.

Marry's father nodded. "I feel at ease with you being friends with Edward Walker. Treat here as your own home from now on, and come over often when you're free."

"I already feel at home here, so I will definitely come often."

There's no way around it. I needed to keep a good relationship with my future in-laws. Winning over Marry's mom was crucial.

"Alright, let's wash up and get ready for dinner," Marry Walker said, carrying the dishes.

Although they were just some home-cooked dishes, they were delicious, even more so than extravagant meals.

We had a great time at dinner. Marry's mother kept serving me food, which showed that she really liked me.

After dinner, Marry's father said, "John, we are going out for a walk. You young people chat. Our presence might make you feel restricted."

After that, Marry's mother had taken Marry's father's hand and left.

Edward Walker invited me to his father's study.

"Are you full?" he asked.

Feeling a bit embarrassed, I replied, "A little bit!"

"My parents really like you," he said.

My heart skipped a beat. What did he mean?

I said, "They are very warm!"

At that moment, Edward Walker slammed the table. "John Cena, I treat you like a brother, and you're secretly dating my sister!"

My head buzzed, and everything went blank. 'How did Edward Walker find out?' I thought.

It suddenly dawned on me why Marry's father was so polite to me, and the way Marry's mother looked at me was the look of a future son-in-law.

I regained my composure and looked at Edward Walker. He didn't seem angry. Instead, he looked at me with a smirk. I swallowed hard. "Edward, how did you find out?"

"I know Marry, don't I? Even a fool can see the way she looks at you."

I scratched my nose, feeling awkward and helpless. 'Wasn't it agreed to keep it a secret for now?' I thought.

Edward continued, "Marry speaks highly of you in front of my parents every day. Do you think my parents can't see through her feelings? She has never been so serious about any guy before, always helping out at your company and contacting headhunters. She is more dedicated than anyone else."

I sighed, realizing that he knew everything. So, I stopped pretending. "Yeah. I am indeed in a relationship with Marry."

"What? Is my sister not good enough for you?" he asked.

"How could that be? It's more like I'm not good enough for her." I looked at Edward Walker seriously. "Edward, even though we've just started, and I don't know what the future holds, I can assure you that I will treat her well!"

Edward Walker looked at me and suddenly smiled. "Alright then, we're family. No need to be so serious. I trust your character, and I'm confident leaving my sister in your hands."

"Thank you!" I said, grateful for his approval.

"However, I have to say, if you ever mistreat her, as her brother, I will definitely stand by her. But if she mistreats you, I'll be on your side." Edward Walker poured me a glass of water. "She is not getting any younger. She's been pressured to go on blind dates for the past two years, rejecting everyone. Meeting you might be a good thing, finally someone who can handle her."

I didn't say anything. I immediately handed him a specially made cigar and helped him light it. After all, he would be my future brother-in-law.

He said to me, "Since you both have mutual feelings and now that you've met the parents, I know my parents are quite satisfied with you. We can start planning the engagement."

I was surprised. 'What did he mean by planning the engagement? We haven't been together for even a month, and he was already talking about engagement.’

"Don't you want to?" Edward Walker's expression changed instantly. I thought his change of expression was too fast. I didn't say I didn't want to!

I took out a tissue to wipe my face. "It's not that I don't want to, but I feel it's a bit rushed. After all, we haven't been together for long, and there are still many things I don't know about her."

"What's the rush? I've seen people go on a blind date in the morning and get engaged in the afternoon." Edward Walker waved his hand. "It's no big deal. Love before marriage or marriage before love is almost the same. Besides, you already have a foundation of feelings, right?"

I was speechless. How could his views on relationships be the same as Lucy's?

Lucy’s side was finally stable, thanks to her mom's timely intervention, and here he was, pushing me to get engaged. They both tried to suffocate me.

I said, "My mom will definitely agree, and I'll talk to my dad. It shouldn't be a problem."

Edward Walker was considering our engagement. "Marry hasn't met your parents yet, right?

"Not yet!" I replied.

"Tomorrow is the weekend, and you should be free. Take Marry home to meet your parents, let them meet a few times, then bring your parents over, have a meal together, and discuss the wedding date."

I really wanted to run away now. This future brother-in-law was like a devil.

He arranged everything so clearly, leaving me no room for resistance.

"I can't do it tomorrow. I have to work." I sighed. "The company has just started, the channels are not stable yet, and the employees are staying back voluntarily to work overtime. As the boss, I have to stay and stabilize the team."

"Alright then, how about next weekend?" Edward Walker suggested.

What could I say? Refusing was definitely not an option with Edward Walker's imagination. Who knew what he might think.

"Sure, but I can't guarantee I'll be free next weekend either, Edward," I said, trying to sound as genuine as possible. "Don't worry. I'm not declining. Marry and I had already agreed that I would publicly acknowledge our relationship in front of you once my career was on track. Who would have thought that you have such keen eyes and figured it out so quickly?"

Edward Walker nodded. "Alright, but my sister is very sincere. If she trusts you, it's wholehearted trust. Don't break her heart."

"Don't worry. I will definitely treat her well."

I suddenly felt the weight of responsibility on my shoulders.

Meeting the parents or not were completely different things. This visit to their house was set up by Edward Walker and his parents. I was caught in a trap.

Their going for a walk was obvious to give Marry Walker and me a chance to bond.

That silly girl probably still didn't know that her brother and parents have seen through her.

"Alright, go and accompany Marry. My parents probably won't be back for a while." Edward Walker said with a smile.

"Okay. I'll go now."

I stood up with a stiff gait and knocked on Marry Walker's door. Her voice came from inside. "Come in!"
