Chapter 244

"You don't have to admit it, but I can't stop this." She stared out the window, hands clenched, clearly unsettled. "I haven't let him touch me in ages, but I don't know how much longer I can hold out. I get you guys, I know what you're thinking. Not many men can endure it, so there's still time now!"

She turned to me. "I'm not being rash, just stating a fact."

"Why don't you leave him? He must be threatening you," I blurted out, hoping it was okay to ask.

"You don't understand, things aren't that simple," she replied.

"Don't just say that, tell me!"

I grabbed her hand. "Do you want to keep living like this? Or do you want to take over Skyliho Group?"

Katherine trembled. "Do you know something?"

"I'm not stupid! Remember you promised me the director position last time?" I said. "You want to share Linda's power, right? If the Business Expansion Department succeeds, the Marketing Department won't matter, and Linda's power will be yours."

"But don't forget, Linda is his wife, and you're just an outsider! There are examples of intruding into someone else's territory, but I know you don't really want to be with him. If you did, I wouldn't even be able to get close to you!"

Katherine pushed my hand away. "No, you're wrong. I am willing."

What?

I couldn't believe it.

"I've wasted so many years of my youth. Skyliho Group has a share of mine; I'm just taking back what's mine."

Katherine's face was indifferent, her tone calm. "This war must have a winner, and I won't quit until I win."

“Why are you so stubborn?” I asked.

"Enough, stop talking," Katherine said. "I suddenly feel you're not suitable to be my driver. Take me home, you don't need to drive for me anymore."

"Katherine Bailey, what do you mean?" I asked.

"You can't just call me by my full name." She looked at me sharply. "Don't think that just because you have money, you can disrespect me. Let me tell you, that bit of money means nothing to some people."

No, this isn't what she really thinks. My brain raced, trying to figure out why her attitude suddenly changed.

There must be a reason.

"What about Ms. Foster? If there's no intel, she'll definitely fire me," I said.

"That's none of my concern," Katherine said. "I'm not your direct superior. If you get fired, it's because you made reckless promises. You deserve it!"

I was furious.

"You just want to drive me away?" I asked.

"I don't need you anymore," she sneered. "I think you're pitiful. I will never be your friend, never."

I felt really upset.

She never took me seriously.

"John, I've played with you for so long, you should be content," she said.

I didn't say anything. The car suddenly accelerated. Even though I knew she was lying, my heart still ached.

"You're crazy, slow down, I command you to slow down, do you hear me?" Katherine shouted.

"Shut up, you're so annoying!" I snapped. "Anyway, I won't be your driver after today, so I'll drive however I want!"

"How dare you talk to me like that, I'll call HR now and have you fired," Katherine threatened.

"Fire me if you want, I'm not afraid of you." I accelerated, and the car slowly left the city and headed to the outskirts.

"John, where are you taking me?"

"Shut up, buckle up if you don't want to be thrown out!"

Katherine kept cursing, turns out even beautiful women can swear a lot.

Just then, a steep slope appeared ahead, the engine roared, and the car went straight up.

Fifteen minutes later, the car stopped at the mountaintop, surrounded by darkness—the last darkness before dawn.

I pulled Katherine out of the car, and she struggled desperately. "You're crazy! Let me go! I want to go back!"

I held her tightly. "If you keep making noise, I'll leave you here alone and make you walk back!"

She was furious. "What are you trying to do?"

I made a gesture for her to be quiet and pointed ahead. "Just wait, you'll see."

She stopped struggling. Just then, the sun began to rise over the mountain.

I whispered in her ear, "Look, the darkness is fading, and the light is returning."

The first rays of sunlight were gentle but carried the courage to dispel all darkness.

Katherine looked at me with a complex expression. "Did you bring me here just to watch the sunrise?"

"Last time we watched the stars by the sea, this time it's the sunrise," I said.

I always believed I'd be there for her when she needed help the most.

"Childish!"

Katherine turned to leave, but I grabbed her, pulled her close, and started kissing her passionately.

She initially resisted, but slowly gave in. Eventually, she became wild and engaged in passionate sex with me.

When the sun had fully risen, we finished kissing.

I said, "I don't know what you're worried about, but the game has begun. I've joined, and I can't leave until I reach the end. You don't need to say hurtful things to force me out. Unless I leave Sevan City, do you understand?"

Katherine grabbed my collar. "You're so lewd."

This was the third time she said that to me.

"Men are lewd; it's a hero's trait. You should know that," I said.

"Now that you have money, you'll have many beautiful women around you. You don't need to be with me," she said.

"There are many beautiful women, but there's only one Katherine," I said seriously. "No one starts out powerful. Don't provoke me. If you do, no matter who it is, I will retaliate."

Katherine pushed me away. "Forget it, I can't change how you think. Let's go back."

She sat in the car.

I breathed a sigh of relief. She was much more complicated than Lily. You could never guess her thoughts, she never gave a straight answer, and she was hard to understand.

Deep down, I knew this was risky, but I was too curious about what was going on between them.

It gave me a sense of involvement, like unraveling a mystery layer by layer.

On the way home, my hands weren't idle, constantly caressing Katherine's thighs wrapped in stockings.

She remained silent, letting me do as I pleased.

As the car pulled into Bay No.1, before getting out, she suddenly said, "I will try my best to prevent him from having sex with me."

What?

"What did you just say?" I asked.

She blushed slightly. "Forget it if you didn't hear."

I grinned, whistled, and left. But before leaving, I cleared all the video content from the dashcam.

This way, there would be no traces left behind.

After taking a shower at home, I drove to Ruby Hill's house.

Ruby usually lived in the dormitory for Sevan City art students, which was actually a high-end villa.

There were only about thirty such villas for Sevan City art students, specially built by the school to attract high-level artistic talents. Only the principal or exceptionally outstanding individuals could live here.

I rang the doorbell, and the maid Ruby hired opened the door. She must have been instructed by Ruby, as she said, "At this time, Ms. Hill is usually practicing in the dance studio on the second floor."
