Chapter 63
In college, she was the campus belle, the department belle, and the one pursued by many from the female dormitory to the school gate.
But she didn't fancy any of them.
One reason was her privileged background. It was rumored her father was a high-ranking executive at Sevan.
Some even said that getting close to Lucy meant having Sevan at your feet.
However, she held herself in high regard and simply looked down on them.
She was the goddess of my university days, but how could she be here now?
Could it be that her family had fallen on hard times, forcing her into this?
The thought left me feeling conflicted.
"John, who are you calling?"
George raised an eyebrow, saying, "I get it. You like younger girls, don't you?"
He pointed to a woman in a school uniform with a voluptuous figure, "How about her?"
I hesitated for a moment, then waved my hand, saying, "No, that's not what I meant!"
At that moment, Lucy also looked in my direction, panic evident in her eyes as she involuntarily took a step back, trying to shield herself.
Edward followed my gaze, saying, "The one in the red dress, come over and keep my friend company."
Lucy bit her lip, and her face showed a mix of emotions.
"What's wrong? Can't you come over?"
Edward furrowed his brow.
"Sir, I... I'm feeling a bit unwell, I..."
"Even if you were terminally ill today, you would still keep my friend happy."
Edward slammed the table. The usually gentle Edward was now commanding and forceful, "Either you make my brother happy today, or you're out of this business forever!"
George's expression soured, saying, "Addison, is this how you treat guests when Edward and I bring our friend here for the first time?"
Addison, a woman in her forties with lingering charm, plump in figure, was a madam in the business.
Seeing Edward and George angry, Addison quickly smiled apologetically, saying, "Mr. Walker, Mr. Jefferson, the newcomer doesn't know the rules. Please don't be angry."
After speaking, she walked up to Lucy and slapped her face. Lucy's fair cheeks turned red instantly, but the blow wasn't too heavy. After all, in this line of work, a pretty face was an asset, and she didn't want to alienate clients.
She wouldn't do anything to harm her reputation.
Addison scolded harshly, "You wench, don't you know that the customer is God in this business? Mr. Walker and Mr. Jefferson are our club's esteemed members. If they aren't happy today, I'll sell you to the brothel and make you a real wench!"
Lucy covered her face, her big eyes filled with fear.
I wanted to say something, but Edward and George were standing up for me. If I said it was okay, it would be like slapping their face.
"Do you understand?" Addison whispered.
"Yes, I understand."
Lucy bit her lip, holding back tears.
"Then why aren't you moving? Get over there!" Addison scolded. "Don't make me repeat myself!"
Lucy walked hesitantly towards me, bowing to me. "Sir, I am Leila, number 137."
Leila?
I understood; this was an alias!
Most people in this line of work used an alias.
I forced a smile, saying, "Well, come and sit down!"
I didn't call her the class monitor, nor did I expose her. I acted as if I didn't know her.
Seeing that I didn't call her by her real name, a hint of gratitude appeared in her eyes.
"That's about right!"
Edward nodded, and then he and George each chose one, both from overseas.
George was flirting with them, his hands constantly wandering.
"John, do you want to call another one?" George asked.
I smirked, "No need, one is enough!"
"Didn't expect John to be so faithful," George teased, burying his face in the woman beside him.
Edward was similar, but he played more artistically by rolling dice, and the loser had to remove an article of clothing!
I was already a bit tipsy, and in this environment, I was feeling even more restless.
"John, I've arranged a girl for you. Why are you so reserved? Do you want to talk about life and dreams with her?"
George raised an eyebrow, saying, "Edward, you don't know this. Maybe John enjoys the thrill of the chase."
"John, there are three private rooms in the back. If you're tired, you can rest at any time; don't mind us!" George said to me.
I felt a bit guilty, thinking, if your sister knew you were encouraging me to play with other women, would she tear you apart or tear me apart?
But now, under the influence of alcohol, I didn't care about anything.
This woman was the one I had longed for in my university days, and now, if I wanted, I could embrace her at any time.
My heart was pounding, and my palms were sweaty.
I leaned in, whispering to her, "Lucy!"
She trembled, her head hanging low. "John, there's only Leila here, no Lucy."
"Yes, you are Leila, also Lucy, and also my class monitor."
I was feeling excited, my hand trembling as it held her slender waist; my heart was about to leap out of my throat.
The scent of orchids and musk wafted into my nostrils. Years of dancing had made her waist exceptionally soft and elastic.
Lucy trembled even more. The dream of my youth right in front of me, I couldn't help but kiss her earlobe, saying, "Lucy, it's been over a year, and I've seen you again."
"John, please don't do this, I..."
A hot tear fell on the back of my hand, and as I looked closely, I saw tears streaming down her cheeks.
She clutched her skirt tightly, her sobs drowned out by George's singing.
"Why are you crying?" I asked.
"Because I'm ashamed!"
Lucy said, "You must think I'm despicable now, right?"
I shook my head, saying, "No, I don't think that way."
"You do!" Lucy trembled even more. "I've only been here for a few days, and now I run into you. I know why men come here. In your eyes, I'm just a despicable wench, right?"
"I really don't."
I forced a bitter smile, saying, "You used to be a goddess on a pedestal, out of reach. Now that you're here, I think you must have encountered some difficulties. No one would willingly abandon their dignity for this, and you wouldn't either."
With so many wealthy suitors pursuing her back then, she wouldn't have ended up like this if not for a family crisis.
Lucy looked at me and asked, "Really?"
"The sun and moon can attest to my heart."
Although I said that, my hand around her waist tightened, and my other hand grabbed her fair and slender hand.
