Chapter 438
Just as she finished talking, her phone buzzed. Marry glanced at the screen, "It's the bank, they should have the results."
She answered and put it on speaker. Daxton said, "Ms. Walker, I'm sorry, but after review, your company doesn't meet our lending standards. Hope to work with you in the future."
The call ended abruptly. The office went dead silent, and Marry's face darkened. She called back, "Daxton, didn't you say there wouldn't be any issues?"
Daxton sounded a bit annoyed. "It's not up to me. The main problem is your company hasn't been around long enough. Try other banks."
I told the finance manager, "Move all our funds from that bank!"
"Yes, Mr. Cena!" the finance manager nodded.
"Don't stress," Marry said. "Daxton and Edward go way back and have worked together a lot. There's no reason they'd make things hard for us!"
Just then, another call came in, this time from a different bank. "Sorry, Ms. Walker, our bank can't lend to your company." Soon, other banks called too, all with refusals.
Due to the significant funding gap, Marry had submitted documents to several banks, but now they were all turning her down. Something was definitely off!
"Why do I feel like there's a conspiracy here?" Mia said.
I squinted and said, "No doubt, someone is out to get us! It has to be someone from either Stellar Media Network or Skyliart Group. Quick, send someone to investigate. I want to know exactly who it is!"
Soon, we found out it was indeed Skyliart Group behind the retaliation. I tapped my fingers lightly on the desk. It must be Joseph using his family's connections. All these banks couldn't have refused to lend at the same time without a reason. Given WY Media Company's valuation, borrowing a few hundred million dollars should be easy.
"I don't believe his influence in Sevan City is that great!" I picked up the phone and called Patrick. After explaining the situation, Patrick said, "Is that all? No big deal. Prepare the loan documents, and I'll take you to meet someone!"
I was thrilled; I didn't expect Patrick to be so powerful. "The loan issue is resolved. Wait for my news at the company!" With the documents in hand, Ava drove me to Nexus Enterprises.
"WY Media Company is doing so well; it's normal for people to be envious!" Patrick said with a smile, "But you should have told me earlier. It's just a loan, no big deal."
I scratched my head awkwardly. "I thought getting a loan would be easy, but I didn't expect to be retaliated against."
"It's no big deal. Business is like a battlefield. These banks aren't that bad; the worst are those that keep delaying you indefinitely, believe it or not."
Patrick said, "But these are minor issues. The Garcia family is indeed powerful, but they don't have that much influence. We have people too!"
I asked, "Who?"
"My uncle, Aneirin Hill, he manages all banking affairs!"
I was taken aback; this was impressive.
Patrick continued, "Even if Joseph is powerful, he can't make things difficult for us financially. Besides, the Garcia family isn't doing well right now. Joseph will get punished sooner or later."
I nodded. A thirty-billion-dollar project with no income yet. Lily's family was almost bankrupted because of this project.
Half an hour later, we arrived at the office. Patrick said, "Don't be nervous. Aneirin may look serious, but he's a good person. As long as we don't mess around, he'll help."
We knocked and entered, and I saw a man in his forties sitting behind the desk, busy. This was Patrick's uncle, Aneirin.
"Aneirin!" Patrick called out with a smile.
Aneirin put down the file, nodded, and looked serious, exuding a strong presence. After glancing at Patrick, he turned his gaze to me. "You must be John."
"Yeah." I nodded.
"Did you bring the documents?"
I quickly handed them over. Aneirin took the papers and started going through them. I glanced at Patrick, who gave me a reassuring nod.
After a bit, Aneirin looked up. "Not bad. The company's young but has little debt and great potential, with solid cash flow. Leave the documents with me. If things go well, you'll have results by this afternoon; if not, by tomorrow. Go back and wait for the news."
With that, Aneirin set the documents aside and got back to work. I was shocked, thinking, 'Is that it?'
Leaving the office, I was still a bit surprised. Patrick patted my shoulder with a smile. "Don't worry. Aneirin may seem cold, but he's got a warm heart. He knows about you and appreciates you."
I asked, "Then why doesn't he ever visit your home?"
Patrick said, "To avoid suspicion! We're businessmen, and Aneirin holds this position. It's easy for people to frame us, so our families rarely interact."
I suddenly got it. He added, "Also, Aneirin is very upright. If there's any issue with your documents, he won't help."
I nodded. This was actually good. If everyone in the world only cared about profit, we'd be doomed.
"By the way, is Ms. Wilson still in Sevan City?" Patrick asked, "I left in such a hurry last time that I forgot to ask for her contact information."
I rolled my eyes and thought, 'She looks down on you so much, and you still act like this? Is that right?' But I just said, "She left, back to Greenvale City!"
"Why didn't you tell me? I could have seen her off!"
I was very helpless. Patrick sighed. "I fell in love with Connie at first sight."
"Alright, I'll find a way to help you next time."
Patrick smiled. "You said it." I suddenly felt like he was waiting for me to say that.
Back at the company, Patrick handed me the revenue report for the past two months. I flipped through it. It was the end of July, and the channels in the Southeast had been opened. The channels in the Northeast, under Crafted Ales Collective, had also been opened.
However, sales in the Northeast were not very good. Even so, daily shipments were stable at around sixteen million. Net profit was about three hundred million dollars, and if we distributed dividends, I could get around forty-five million dollars. But it was impossible to distribute it all at once, especially now that Crafted Ales Collective was involved.
Patrick said to me, "I'll give you thirty million dollars, and the remaining fifteen million dollars will go into the company's development fund."
I asked, "Patrick, didn't we agree not to distribute dividends within six months?"
"The company doesn't lack funds now, but you do. Consider it an advance dividend," Patrick said with a smile.
It'd be a lie if I said I wasn't moved. WY Media Company currently had only one hundred and forty million dollars on the books, and I had only fifty to sixty million dollars. Thirty million dollars wasn't much, but it was enough to keep the company going for a few more days.
I didn't say thank you. I would find a way to repay him in the future. As for letting Patrick buy shares, I hadn't thought about it. WY Media Company was now in a stage where it needed money. With several projects running simultaneously, no amount of money was enough. Letting him buy shares now would be harming him.
Honestly, raising capital was the best option, but I wasn't willing to do it. Once we had shareholders, it became difficult to do anything. In my mind, financing was the last resort. Even if I had to finance, I'd try to get the most funds possible.
As I was about to leave, Patrick said to me, "Remember to come to my house this weekend. My parents miss you very much."
"Okay." I nodded and left Nexus Enterprises.
That afternoon, the bank's commercial loan manager visited. "Mr. Cena, we've reviewed your company's documents and checked the relevant information."
