Chapter 366

Connie gasped and fell right on top of me, and her lips landed smack on mine.

My eyes went wide. So did Connie's.

We just stared at each other for a solid three seconds. I thought she'd get up, but nope, next thing I knew, her tongue was in my mouth.

I froze up, totally numb. I thought, 'Are all the girls in Greenvale City this bold?'

She was clumsy, but her eyes were dead set. "Connie, I have a girlfriend. You can't do this," I mumbled, but then she held my tongue.

Great, now I couldn't say a word. Her breathing got faster, and her eyes were all watery.

I wanted to push her away but couldn't. Thinking about the two women at home possibly fighting, I got anxious.

Somehow, I found the strength to raise my hands to push her away. But my hands landed on her chest.

She let out a soft moan, and I was stunned. "I didn't mean to."

She lifted her head, face flushed, eyes full of emotion. "I know, you did it on purpose!"

Now I was in a real pickle. "No, it's not like that. I really just wanted to push you away."

At this point, I couldn't care about much else. "Connie, let me go back, okay? Otherwise, something bad will really happen!"

Connie frowned. "What could be so important that you don't even care about your own safety?"

"Just let me go back, I promise I'll be fine!"

Seeing my determined look, she gave in. "Okay, but after that, you have to come back to the hospital with me."

I hesitated. "Isn't that a bit much?"

"Then don't even think about leaving."

She snorted, "I promised Ms. Kingsley, if something happens to you after you leave, what will people think of me? They'll definitely say the Wilson Family is ungrateful."

"It's not that serious."

"Anyway, if you don't come back, I'll hold you down."

She licked her lips. "This is my first kiss, and it feels so good. How about we continue?"

"No, I promise you, " I quickly said.

She looked disappointed. "I wanted to kiss you, and you don't even want that."

I pretended not to hear, thinking to myself, 'Even if you stripped naked, I wouldn't dare touch you. What just happened was a beautiful misunderstanding.'

Twenty minutes later, the car stopped at the entrance of the apartment complex. Connie said,  "I'll wait for you here!"

I replied, "Thank you!"

"If you don't come down, I'll come find you."

I broke out in a cold sweat. "Don't worry, I'll definitely come down."

Upstairs, I was in a dilemma. I pondered, 'Should I go to Katherine first or Linda?'

In the end, I decided to go to Linda first. I took out the spare key and went straight in.

The room was pitch black. I turned on the light and saw her curled up on the sofa. "Ms. Foster." I gently called her. She slowly woke up and asked, "You finally decided to come back?"

But when she saw my bandaged hands, her face changed. "You're hurt?"

"It's just a small injury, don't worry."

"What happened? Did those people come for revenge?" She looked at me nervously. "Tell me quickly."

"No, don't worry." I said, "I just did a good deed and got a little hurt."

"Wait, What’s up with your hair?"

I touched my head. My once thick hair was now almost gone.

I understood. It must have been burned when I rushed into the fire, and it was probably shaved off at the hospital. "It got burned, so I cut it off."

She stood up and looked me over, all worried. "Any other injuries?"

"No, just some minor stuff on my hands, don't worry." Seeing her worried face, I felt a warmth in my heart. "You really care about me."

To my surprise, her expression flipped. "Why would I care about a jerk? Why didn't you die out there?"

I stepped forward and hugged her. Usually, she'd struggle a bit before calming down, but this time, she didn't. Instead, she hugged me tightly. "You've had a hard time."

I felt a warmth in my heart, thinking she didn't really mean to be harsh. "It's not hard. It's all for you and the baby. I promised I wouldn't let anything happen to you two."

"Hold me while I sleep." She looked up at me, the coldness on her face long gone.

"I still have to go to the hospital. The doctor said I can't be discharged tonight."

"Is it that serious? Are you hiding something from me? Why didn't you tell me on the..." Before she could finish, she stopped because she had forced me to come back. "Is it because of me?"

I nodded. "It's nothing. I was planning to come back anyway."

Just then, there was a knock on the door. Linda instinctively pushed me away.

"John, I know you're in there. Come out, I need to talk to you!" It was Katherine's voice.

Linda immediately narrowed her eyes and looked at me with a hostile expression. "Did you tell her?"

"No, I really didn't!"

She snorted, "Then how does she know you're here?"

I thought, 'How would I know?'

I said, "Ms. Foster, should I go out?"

"What does she want with you so late?" Linda sneered, "It seems you hold a high place in her heart."

I braced myself and said, "Did you forget what you asked me to do before?"

Her expression softened a bit, and she went to open the door. "Ms. Wilson, what are you doing here so late?"

"Is John here?" Katherine said, "I need to talk to him."

"It's so late, aren't you afraid of what people might think?"

"Ms. Foster, you dare to see him, why wouldn't I?"

With that, she called out, "John, come out!"

I smiled wryly and walked over. "Ms. Wilson!"

She was initially happy to see me, but her face changed when she saw my shiny bald head and bandaged hands. She immediately looked furious. "Ms. Foster, this is too much, isn't it?"

"Ms. Wilson..." I was about to explain when Katherine snapped, "Shut up!"

Linda crossed her arms. "How am I too much? John, tell me, am I too much?"

Katherine looked at me, and I sighed. "Not too much."

Linda said, "Did you hear that? He said not too much!"

A cold glint flashed in Katherine's eyes. "Come out, I have something to ask you."

"Can't you say it here?" Linda stood at the door, and the two of them faced off again.

In Sevan City, they could maintain a facade of peace, but in Greenvale City, without any restraints, they completely disregarded everything.

I was caught in the middle, feeling extremely uncomfortable. I liked both of them.

Katherine asked, "John, I'm asking you, are you coming out or not?"

"You dare go out!" Linda snorted.

"Enough, stop arguing!" I felt a bit annoyed. "I'll go to the hospital, okay? You two can argue all you want!"

With that, I walked out.

"John," They both called out, but I didn't look back.

Downstairs, Connie's Lamborghini was still parked there. "That was quick."

I replied, "I just went up to give an update on my status."

"You seem upset."

"A bit tired. Can you take me back to the hospital?"

She nodded and didn't say anything. On the way to the hospital, Katherine called me several times, but I didn't answer.
