Chapter 347

Linda's face was expressionless. "Let them search."

They searched for over ten minutes and found nothing. The leader of the group then left.

However, the office area was in chaos, especially since some employees had brought clients over.

The clients were scared off by the situation.

"Mr. Harrison, the client I've been working on for three months left."

"Yeah, they said our company is a scam. My project!"

Several employees were complaining, and everyone else was also on edge.

Linda had to step out again to calm everyone down. It took a lot of effort to stabilize the situation, but then the property management brought in fire safety inspectors.

"This office is set up very poorly, with significant safety hazards!" one declared, his voice booming.

"No back door. If a fire breaks out, it could be disastrous!" another added.

They directly issued a correction order. "Immediate correction required. No correction, no business operation allowed!"

One of them said, "Everyone leaves the company. We're sealing it off!"

Everyone in the company was stunned.

Marlow was even more anxious. "Ms. Foster, what should we do?"

It dawned on me then. Steven must have pissed someone off, someone powerful. Why else would we be targeted like this? Yesterday the car accident, today this. Just how influential was this person? And what would they do next?

"Ms. Foster?" Marlow's voice was tight with worry.

"Follow their orders and make the corrections!" Linda said, her voice surprisingly steady. "Make the necessary corrections."

Steven had just left last night, and the next day the Greenvale City branch was shut down.

I wondered who Steven offended in Greenvale City?

"Everyone go home and wait for further notice. Salaries will be paid as usual. Come back to work after the corrections are made."

With that, Linda turned to Marlow and said, "Mr. Harrison, come with me."

Marlow looked worried. "Ms. Foster, to be honest, I'm very concerned. Even if we fix the fire safety issues, they might keep dragging it out. Even if we pass, they might find other ways to target us."

"Why don't we find a new office building?"

That was indeed a solution, but if the person behind this really wanted to retaliate against Skyliho Group, would changing locations help?

Linda shook her head. "We're not going anywhere. We'll stay here and make the corrections as required. I'll figure out the rest."

Marlow sighed. "Yes."

As we left the business center building, I suddenly felt that the sky over Greenvale City was gray and gloomy.

"Ms. Foster, what do we do next?"

Linda said calmly, "Drive me to Starlight University."

"What are we going there for?"

I thought she wouldn't explain, but to my surprise, she did. "I have a mentor who is a professor at Starlight University. Maybe he can help."

A professor at Starlight University? They were highly respected in academia, but could they really help with a business crisis like this? I pushed down my doubts and followed the GPS directions.

As one of the top universities in the country, I could feel its unique cultural atmosphere as soon as I entered.

I saw a hint of nostalgia on her face. When we arrived at a teaching building, Linda said, "Wait for me downstairs."

I nodded. "Be careful going up."

I figured she wouldn't be back anytime soon, so I wandered around the campus.

I had to say, there were a lot of beautiful women.

Long legs, fashionable outfits.

I suddenly missed Kelsey and Mya.

Damn it, John, get a grip. You haven't even dealt with the mess here, and you're already thinking about them?

After wandering for about half an hour, Linda called me.

"So, can your mentor help?"

Linda shook her head.

The atmosphere was heavy on the way back. Seeing her anxious expression, I said, "Ms. Foster, be honest with me. Did we offend someone?"

"This has nothing to do with you."

"Why?"

I protested, "I'll be the general manager here in the future. The company will be handed over to me. I need to know what's going on."

She gave me a cold look. "What can you do if you know? Can you fix it?"

"Two heads are better than one."

I said, "Where there's a will, there's a way."

"You're clueless."

Linda turned her head away and stopped talking.

"Ms. Foster, where to next?"

"To the business building, to find the property manager."

Fifteen minutes later, we arrived at the property management office of the business center building.

"Excuse me, is your manager in?"

I asked at the front desk.

The female property staff glanced at me. "The manager is out."

"Where did he go?"

"Just tell me what you need, and I'll make a note of it."

Before she could finish, Linda walked straight inside. The receptionist hurriedly shouted, "You can't go in there."

Linda wasn't someone a receptionist could stop.

She knocked on the door of the manager's office. A voice came from inside.

Linda gave me a disdainful look.

She opened the door and walked in. A man in his thirties was sitting in the spacious office. His eyes widened when he saw Linda.

When he saw me, he frowned. "Who are you, and what do you want?"

Linda sat directly across from him and took out a gilded business card. "I'm the owner of the office upstairs. Today, your people brought fire safety inspectors and shut down my company."

"Is that so?"

He took the card, and his face instantly changed. He even tossed the card aside, looking a bit disdainful.

"Our people follow the rules. If your company was shut down, it must have failed to meet the standards."

This property manager must know something. Otherwise, he wouldn't have changed his expression upon seeing Linda's card.

Linda glanced at his name tag. "Mr. Simpson, would you be available for lunch? I have some questions."

"No need for that," he said, standing up. "I have a meeting at headquarters this afternoon."

He walked over to the door and made a gesture for us to leave.

I thought, 'Whoever Steven offended must be very powerful.

'No wonder he fled in such a hurry, not daring to stay even a day.'

Linda didn't get angry. Instead, she smiled. "Mr. Simpson, if you have time, please call me."

Leaving the office, Linda's face instantly changed.

In the car, Linda said tiredly, "Let's go back to the hotel."

At the Sparkling Starlight Hotel, after dropping Linda off at her room, I was also anxious. I thought, 'There is nothing we can do if we don't know who is behind this

'Even if it's someone powerful in Greenvale City, we need to know he is.'

I thought for a moment and called Marlow, who was from Greenvale City. "Mr. Harrison, I have a question for you."

"Mr. Cena. Just ask, and I'll tell you everything I know."

"Do you know who the big shots in Greenvale City are?"

"Why are you interested in him, Mr. Cena?"

"It's nothing. I just heard that he is famous, and I'm curious."

I slowly exhaled a puff of smoke. "Also, I have a special task this time, which is somewhat related to him."

Marlow's breathing became rapid. "Related to the big shot"

"So please tell me everything you know, so I can be prepared."

"Well..."
