Chapter 228
"He was the one who carried Mya out just now. Walking barefoot must've hurt like hell."
Everyone was talking at once. Lillian looked at me with a mix of pity and pride, while Kelsey was crying. "It's all my fault. If it weren't for me, Mya wouldn't have been bitten by the snake, and John wouldn't be hurt."
Mya sat up and bit her lip. "John, can I see your foot?"
I said, "There's nothing to see about my foot."
At this moment, my foot was covered in mud, completely black.
Mya insisted, "Let me see!"
I touched my nose and stood up. Her eyes immediately filled with tears. "Thank you, thank you!"
I waved my hand repeatedly. "It's nothing serious, just some superficial wounds. The doctor can disinfect them."
Saying this, I hobbled out. I couldn't help it; it really hurt.
Lillian and Kelsey quickly came over to support me. The surrounding teachers and students looked at me as if I were a hero.
I knew that, once again, I had become the hero who saved the damsel in distress.
In the infirmary, the doctor used iodine to clean the dirt from my wounds, which hurt a lot.
"Alright, the wounds aren't deep, just small cuts. The soles of your feet are a bit worn out. Avoid water for the next two days, and you'll be fine."
"Thank you, doctor."
I sighed inwardly. Just as the wounds on my hands had healed, now my feet were injured.
I felt helpless.
After this incident, the event ended early.
Mya went back in her mom's car, and I sat in the front passenger seat. Lillian and Kelsey were worried about me and wouldn't let me drive.
So, Lillian became the driver.
Reclining the seat, Kelsey obediently massaged my temples. Lillian didn't say anything. In her eyes, Kelsey was doing this purely out of gratitude.
Back at the company, most people had gone downstairs to eat. Only the receptionist and HR were still there.
"Has Mr. Brown returned?"
The receptionist, Emily, said, "Mr. Brown went out to discuss some channels."
I nodded and went back to my office.
Mia had sent me a lot of messages, asking when I would be back.
Then there was Lily, asking why I hadn't reported to the company again.
Katherine also sent an angry emoji: [Drive me home tonight!]
I replied: [Okay!]
George: [Hey, did you go see Charles?]
I slapped my forehead. How could I forget about that?
I replied: [I'll go this afternoon.]
If I remember correctly, Eloise has a solo concert at the Sevan City's Opera House tonight.
Eloise had already left me a ticket. Even though Eloise had wronged me, I still had to go. After all, if I didn't maintain the relationship, I couldn't get my revenge.
After a while, Mia came back. The promiscuous woman pounced on me, kissing me all over, followed by the usual oral sex.
"Plenty of semen; you haven't been fooling around," Mia said and rinsed her mouth and sat on my lap.
I played with her ample chest. "Come with me this afternoon to discuss a business deal."
"Starting at one million dollars, no limits." Mia Green's eyes sparkled.
"Of course!" I said.
"I love you to death," Mia said.
The Sevan City Distillery headquarters was located in the northern suburbs, covering a large area with several towering buildings and rows of factories behind them.
Mia was a bit nervous. "The big business you mentioned, it's not with Sevan City Distillery, is it?"
Driving a Bentley was enough to shock Mia, and now that we were at Sevan City Distillery, she seemed a bit scared.
I told her, "I'm friends with the CEO of Sevan City Distillery."
"John, have you been possessed by an alien?" Mia looked at me nervously.
"Don't be nervous. Just follow me and act as my secretary," I said.
Mia took a deep breath. "Just being a pretty face, I can do that."
Before coming, I had already called Charles. To my surprise, he personally came down to greet me, which made me feel quite flattered.
I said, "Charles, in this hot weather, why aren't you in your office? Why did you come down?"
"I've been eagerly waiting for you." Charles grabbed my hand and led me into the building.
As we walked in, we passed a bunch of employees who stopped to greet Charles, but he didn't even glance at them.
Looking at Charles and then at myself, I realized there was quite a gap between bosses.
Even more impressive was Charles's office, which was as large as a suite, filled with high-end furniture that was clearly very valuable. The items on the bookshelves were genuine antiques.
After chatting for a while, Charles said, "I'm planning to invest ten million dollars in advertising in Sevan City. You have to help me with this!"
"Ten million dollars?" I muttered in shock.
That was incredibly generous, far beyond my expectations. I thought a few million dollars would be good enough.
"Thank you for your trust, Charles. I'll do everything I can to make this a success."
I knew Charles was doing this to repay a favor and to support me. Otherwise, with my company, even one million dollars would be a lot.
I said, "My company currently has ten offline advertising partners, including a large chain advertising company with over thirty branches in Sevan City. We also have five new media partners with over twenty million followers. Additionally, Sevan City Midnight Radio, Sevan City Daily, Sevan City Channel 3, and Sevan City Morning News are all our partners, covering an audience of over forty million!"
Previously, we had three new media and three traditional media partners. The new additions were negotiated in the past few days. I have to say, Holly is amazing!
I continued, "Besides, we've also reached preliminary agreements with the Sevan City Taxi Association and the Sevan City Bus Company. We should be able to create a pervasive advertising atmosphere for Sevan City Distillery."
Charles was slightly surprised, seemingly not expecting my company to have such capabilities.
After pondering for a moment, Charles said, "If that's the case, I plan to increase the advertising budget to twenty million dollars!"
"Twenty million dollars?"
My heart raced. According to Holly's calculations, the net profit should be between thirty to forty percent, as many of the channels are new partners and their rates are high.
Even at thirty percent, twenty million dollars would mean a profit of six million pounds.
"Charles, how about this: split the advertising into two phases. The first phase will be ten million dollars. If the results are good, then we can proceed with the second phase."
Charles nodded. "That sounds good!"
"Also, Charles, I want to discuss another collaboration with you."
Charles became interested. "What kind of collaboration?"
I said, "New media marketing is booming right now. I want to collaborate with you, but only in new media marketing. For example, live-streaming sales or Facebook Marketplace."
Charles asked, "How do we split it?"
I replied, "Fifty-fifty."
"Deal!" Charles nodded. "I've been interested in new media for a while, but the market is highly competitive, and the channels are crucial. I have to be careful, which has held me back."
"Go ahead and do it, but make sure to maintain a good reputation and don't mess with the pricing."
I nodded. Nowadays, many online influencers use gimmicks to sell cheap wine, which tarnishes the reputation of wine.
I called Savannah and asked her to come over. Friendship is one thing, but we still needed to go through the proper contract procedures.
Savannah and the legal team handled the contract while I chatted with Charles.
After getting to know these big bosses, I no longer felt the same sense of awe. After all, they are just people, albeit wealthy ones.
They have emotions too, and when they get excited, they don't care if there are people around. They say a lot of harsh things.
After signing the contract, Charles walked me to the door. "Next week, there's a national wine-tasting competition in Sevan City. It's organized by the Simbara Wine Association and happens to be held locally this year. Wine merchants from all over the country will come."
