Lily said, "Dad, I promise I'll work hard. I can handle the family's responsibilities. I won't let you and Mom suffer."
Scott chimed in, "Oh, please. With your salary, you can't even cover my monthly allowance!"
I shot Scott a look. He was already twenty-three, still mooching off his parents. What a waste.
Sofia walked over. "Lily, come here. Listen to me."
"No way!" Lily clung to my arm, tears in her eyes.
"Lily, I just talked to Elijah. I will provide twenty million dollars. If you agree, I'll give you ten million upfront, and the rest after we get married," Isaac said with a smile, his face wrinkling up. "With me, you won't have to work anymore. You can just relax and enjoy yourself."
Elijah yelled, "Come over here now! Are you trying to drive me crazy?"
"Elijah, can you listen to me for a moment?" I looked at him and said.
Elijah frowned. "Who are you? Do you even have a say here?"
"Get out of here! Who do you think you are? You think you deserve Lily?" Scott sneered.
Sofia grabbed Lily's wrist. "Listen to me. Things have changed. If you obey, we'll compensate you well in the future."
I was pissed. "Sofia, Lily is your daughter. Are you really going to sacrifice her happiness for your own comfort? Forcing her to marry this old man?"
Sofia's face darkened. "This is our family matter. I advise you not to meddle!"
Isaac was furious. "Are you looking for trouble? Do you believe I can crush you with money?"
I laughed coldly. "Come on, I'm right here. Let's see how you crush me with money!"
"Who are you to talk to Isaac like that?" Scott rolled up his sleeves, ready to fight.
I laughed. "Is money all you care about? Fine, isn't it just twenty million dollars? I'll give it to you!"
"John!" Lily was shocked. "Don't be impulsive. How can you come up with that much money?"
I patted her hand and then looked at Elijah. "Elijah, if I can come up with twenty million dollars, will you stop forcing her to marry Isaac?"
Elijah frowned and said nothing. Isaac laughed out of exasperation. "You're young and boastful. Do you think twenty million dollars is like two thousand dollars? You think you can just come up with it?"
Isaac shouted, "Elijah, don't listen to his nonsense. He's definitely boasting. He doesn't look like a good person!"
I said, "You old bastard, you're so old and still want to marry Lily? How can you make such a demand when the Wilson family's finances are in trouble? Elijah, if he calls you father in the future, can you accept it? You must have many friends. Even if your company recovers, people will still laugh at you."
Elijah's face turned red with anger. "Nonsense!" He looked at Lily. "If you still consider me your father, make him leave right now."
I held Lily's hand. "Forget it. You want to kick me out just because I mocked you? I'll give you money." I stared at him. "Do you dare to take it?"
I wanted to come and have a good talk. Maybe I could help run the Wilson family's trading company, which would be an investment. But now, I had completely given up on that idea.
"Anyone can boast. If you have the guts, give it now!" Isaac said disdainfully.
"If I give the money, will you leave?" I asked Isaac.
"Yeah, if you can really come up with the money, I'll never bother the Wilson family again!" Isaac seemed sure I couldn't do it.
"If you really give the money, I'll agree to you and Lily being together. If you can't, don't blame me for being rude!" Scott said with a nasty look.
Sofia let go of Lily's hand. "Can you really come up with twenty million dollars?"
I stayed calm. "If I can't, I'd just be embarrassing myself. Give me an account number, and I'll transfer the money now."
Elijah's anger cooled, and he handed over a bank card. "Transfer it to this card."
Taking the card, I said, "Let me make it clear. Once I give the money, Lily is mine, and no one can interfere!"
Elijah nodded. "Of course!"
I glanced at Lily and felt sorry for her. Living in such a family must be tough. Maybe she had a comfortable life, but she was like a bird trapped in a cage by her parents. So, I started the transfer in front of everyone, and they all craned their necks.
After it was done, I handed the card back. "The money's been transferred. Check if it's in the account."
Elijah's phone vibrated. He looked at it and gasped. "Twenty million dollars!"
Isaac quickly leaned over, and when he saw the message, he stormed out. Elijah didn't stop him, nor did anyone in the Wilson family, because it was no longer necessary.
Scott grinned. "Lily, why didn't you tell us you had such a wealthy boyfriend? We were so worried."
Lily looked at me in shock. "John, where did you get so much money?"
"I'll explain later," I said. I smiled at Elijah. "Elijah, now Lily is mine, right?"
Elijah was still in a daze and nodded blankly. Sofia said, "You silly girl, you worried me to death. Why didn't you bring such an excellent boyfriend home earlier?"
"Mom!" Lily blushed and lowered her head.
"Scott, help John with his things!" Scott grinned and quickly took the things from my hands, "These are all precious!"
Sofia also said, "Come, sit down. I'll pour you some water!"
At this moment, Elijah finally reacted and looked at me with a complicated expression. "What does your family do?"
I replied, "My parents are just ordinary farmers."
"Then where did you get this money?"
"I earned it. Don't worry, it's legal income."
"So, you started your own business?"
"Sort of." I nodded.
Elijah stood up and looked me up and down. "Not bad, you're very capable. Please, sit down!"
I wanted to take Lily away, but I thought, 'After all, they are her parents. Could I really make her cut ties with them? That isn't realistic!' I didn't want to make Lily feel awkward either.
After sitting down, Sofia pulled Lily into a room to ask questions, while Scott stayed by my side, constantly asking me questions, and Elijah did the same. "So, your company is in Greenvale City?"
"Yes," I nodded.
"It must be very profitable, right?"

"How much can you make?" Scott continued to ask.
"I can't say for sure, but it's in the tens of millions of dollars."
"That's great!" Scott nodded excitedly. "You have to help me in the future. Honestly, I only agreed to Isaac and Lily's relationship because I was forced to. Don't take it to heart!"
